Bob Dylan's version was way better. Sorry... It sounds more genuine & doesn't have those gay power chords which provide absolutely no musical depth. That's just my opinion, but music's subjective & I know I'm not necessarily the voice of reason for all perspectives. I just think this song is more shallow than the original version.

@pinup60 A power chord is a partial chord with a few low notes, as opposed to a full chord with all of the notes being played. So power chords have no variation. They can't be minor, seventh, minor/major seventh chords, etc. A great example of power chords is on Green Day's song, "Brain Sew". Notice the beginning chords consist of a few low notes that sound grungy, & aren't full 6 note bar chords.

I believe this is superior to Dylan's version because there is so much NEED in the singers voice. There are people who have had restrictive personalities, parents, religions which snuffed out any sexual beginnings, and so they are lost.

I knew a pretty young woman whose friends were married, and she had never even been on a date. I think this version and video express that desire for two people to experience total warmth, intimacy, and to cease being a joke.

Dylan's performance of this particular song is so distinctive, unusual and evocative that it will never be equalled. I like Duran Duran and this is not too bad a version as covers go, but it's nowhere near as good as the original. It's not really supposed to be sung as a pop song, more of a ballad, like the original.
