Born and raised there, left in 1996 and never looked back. .what a depressing place to call home..trust me folks i had some good times but the town is not at all like it used to be. The weather, the Indians, the boarded up buildings and empty lots, the high property taxes, the high unemployment rate, the high crime rate..need i say more? if my parents weren't there, i would never set foot in that town again...go ahead see for yourself and prove me wrong!!

I have a question. How do new people survive in rupert? Their surely can`t be very much in terms of employment... But obviously it does occur..since its clearly not a ghost town. i was their a few years ago, I want to go back. looks like much better living then the lower mainland and their preposterously high costs, lack luster attitudes and SMOG.
i wish i lived back in Prince Rupert. i miss my friends, i miss fishing, hell.. i even miss the weather. i now live in Chase, BC... and there isn't alot to do here =(
yeah in the west side kinda like vancover but oppisite the east side is where all the nice people are no druggys or anything maybe some hobos like vancover and in the west side is where all the druggs are but then thers more shopping that side also the nicer house but the east side has 2 the nicest schools, best eleminatry :lax kxeen and high school:charles hay secondary school
Isn't it kinda wierd.. Those who lived in the rainiest part of BC move to the sunniest and dryest place's in BC the Dessert, and those who lived in the sunniest dryest place in BC move to the rainiest place in most of Canada that be wacked y'all
So, i think your city is perfect, my dream city! I'm writing a kind of book, and it passes in Prince Rupert. If you can answer me, please, do it! There is any university in Prince Rupert? If the answer is "no", Where the majority of young people courses?
hey i know i'm not the person of this video but i lived in rupert for 2 years and only moved back in june so there is a comminty collage but i'm sorry i don't know what classes i'll ask my friends up there
hay i live in dunnville ontario and i will say i drove all the way to prince rupert and i really injoyed the drive and like the town i wish i could live there some day.
aww I love rupert so much. I grew up there and was there for 10 years then moved to vancouver for another 10 years, and guess what! I've decided to move back, that's how much I love the small town feel, the beautiful scenary and nature all around you and how quick and easy it is to get out and nature and go camping. I cant wait to be back!
yeah, i've heard alot about that, but i love Native American Culture! I'm getting nervous, school ends in 3 weeks and we move a couple days after. But, i'm still glad, i've been waiting for a chance to start over for a long time and i'm glad it's finally come, i'm just scared cuz i'll be gonig into grade 12 when i get there and will be the new kid. But from what I've seen on the internet it's quite beautiful and i love the harbour, we found this little house by the shore.
hhhmm. i love rupert alot, with all the beautiful scenery and wildlife. but a negative is the racism. our whole town is based around native cultures (good thing i think?) and i'm not native but i enjoy it anyways, but when you go to school there is massive racism, and out in the public as well. go to a bar, get beat up because your native/white/asian/etc. its a beautiful town but slightly scary in that way..
:) it rains a fair bit but you appreciate every day so much more for like sunshine, or warm rain etc, and its sooo nice, like theres so much forest, a friend of mine once went from one side of town to another crossing only two roads and the rest being forest.. :D and then there are whales in the ocean and sea otters and like, ugh its just awesome ^^
Jeeez... this video makes Prince Rupert sound nice, living here I know it's not that great hah! I can't wait to get out after grad in June. There is some ups to little 'ol Rupert, but it basically sucks. Good job on the video though.
Awesome video. I was born and raised in Prince Rupert but haven't lived there in almost 20 years and all of my family are still up there. Seeing this video really made me miss it. But no matter how nice you make it sound, nobody likes the rain up there. That's the one thing I don't miss. :)
one of my family friends used to own the bowling alley and the ocean view hotel but they sold em and now they own all the coin laundry's in rupert, sayin hello from kelowna
We deleted you comment? Rob must not have liked it. I'm guessing it was over all negative with no real purpose here. This would be a poor choice of venue for your thoughts on local government commerce. If you want to know where all the money goes go to City Council meetings where they discuss such things or visit my Dad. It's a video comment section which doesn't make a great forum for debate, I'm afraid.
Honestly, I don't like the weather up here in Toronto where I live, I hate the rain, but I guess if you lived in Prince Rupurt and you guys got a lot of rain, I can see why you'd LOVE it! :) It's a very beautiful town, I'd love to go down and visit some time.
Rupert has a peaceful cosmic vibe. I lived there for a few months years ago. I will always remember it, and hope to be lucky enough to go there again.
Amongst the best memories of my lifetime. Will always love Prince Rupert. Forever.
Great video. My boyfriend and I are thinking about moving to Prince Rupert, and this only confirmed that it has all the things we're looking for. Well, maybe not the rain...but we can deal, I'm sure :)
My name is WAYNE.H. DUDOWARD,and I now live in KAMLOOPS.BC.
You know,I rrrreeeeaaaalllly rrreeaallly rrrrrrrreeeaaaallllly miss Rupert. One fond memory is when I was in one of the reastaurants there with my wife, and this fellow NATIVE chick brought my wife ceaser salad, and asked her if she wanted BACON BITS.
Well,we were insulted,so we left...Call my wife A BITCH,will she!!!
wow, good video clip and very well thought out and great audio..good job. In my experience working in the hospitality industry mmost people LOVE it here in Prince Rupert.
didn't west end always look like it need a fix'r upper? hahahahaha... and is audio vision still high priced? hahahaha.. but in all due respect I miss the rain... everyone here in Kamloops says I'm crazy for sportin' shorts for rainy dayz here... I have to laugh and tell them I came from Prince Rupert hahaha
haha audio vision is still the same, it never opens, when it is opened its all high priced, and old stuff. Last time i was in there I saw N64 games for $60
actually I think you should tell them about the Cows..
that swam a shore to now known as Cowbay... hahahaha
and it's true Prince Rupert will always be apart of every persons heart that goes through there... Lord I miss that place it's shaped me into what I am today..
in fact it's where I learn'd to rely on the Lord for strength... as we all know to live in Rupert is to say hello to the rain every day hahahaha
Thanks for posting the great vid Brandon. I often search for Rupert related entries. Your right after spending 45 years there it does get in your blood. Many fond memories. I live in a sub of Toroonto now, here you don't know your neighbours after eight years. Ps Say hello to your mom and dad.
This is an excellent video about P-dot, also my hometown. I dearly miss the beautiful scenery that really pushed me forward, and helped me appreciate the town while I and my family had to deal with the economic weakening of the town. Great video. Make another?
I lived in rupert for 6 years and then i moved to nanaimo bc. and this year i saw trooper live and befor they sang this song they told us all the story of when they went to rupert
no seriously...it's not about Rupert, we got it indirectly straight from the source....rephrasing my previous comment, it doesn't change the sentiment of this piece or our eternal belief in the rumour(myth)
Myth...Legend...Rumour...call it what you will you're right. We heard it straight from the mouth of Trooper (straight from the forwarded email from Trooper). Doesn't change the sentiment. Everytime that song comes on at the Surf everyone is gonna cheer just as loud, because no matter what Trooper wrote it about, it still represents. for real! Bazaaaaaooooooo..V Sesh OUT!
Nice Video! I was born in PR but moved away when I was 11 days old so don't really know to much about the place...it was nice seeing something positive about it :)
This is an awesome Video Brandon!!! Small Town mentality haha.. =) gotta love it!!! Yes, you can only live here if the rain makes you happy !! if not.. get the hell out lol haha jk.. Great video!!
Cool video. I don't really miss living there but it was a good place to grow up. I disagree with the "big city feel" comment as I live in a big city and Rupert has nowhere near the big city feel but it does have some decent amenities for a city of its small size.
What a great video!! This is in true view of most Ruperites!! Rupert is a great town, once you've lived here, it will never leave your heart. Good Times!!
yeah baby!! rupert rocks!! good video! im tsimshian and from here!! the weather sucks hahaha and i saw my house in there!! COOL!! and lol west end looked like it needed to be fixed up
hey that blonde lady clapping in your film is my auntie! in her band "the undecideds" i go up to rupert every summer and every second winter and have been doing that all my life because my dad lives there, Forman is our last name. Im moving up to pr in a year or so

This is an excellent video about P-dot, also my hometown. I dearly miss the beautiful scenery that really pushed me forward, and helped me appreciate the town while I and my family had to deal with the economic weakening of the town. Great video. Make another?

Trooper is coming back, ask them

no seriously...it's not about Rupert, we got it indirectly straight from the source....rephrasing my previous comment, it doesn't change the sentiment of this piece or our eternal belief in the rumour(myth)
vansessions 5 years ago
Trooper didnt actually write a song about us, that a myth.

As an uprooted Rupertite, I can say you've done an excellent job of capturing what this little city is all about. Nice delivery too, cheers.

Cool video. I don't really miss living there but it was a good place to grow up. I disagree with the "big city feel" comment as I live in a big city and Rupert has nowhere near the big city feel but it does have some decent amenities for a city of its small size.
