Man you guys are lucky to have her, I am from a tiny island where we mostly listen to island style music, which is great and all. If I was living in States when Alanis first started man I be attending every one of her concerts and buy every one of her albums. Hmph...Lucky fuckers!
yeah ... live in that "thing" they called "Woodstock"... I was at Both... there was No Resemblance to the first... but seeing This Woman made it all worth while... but I was Pissed that they scheduled her show so early... as you can see the sun hadn't set yet... I thought SHE was the Best act they had booked, but the promoters must have thought otherwise... and gave her this time slot.
Although SHE was Perfect as usual... the show would have been better after dark.
I was there. it was like 105 degrees. I was dehydrated and hungry with 10 bucks to my name. I was 18, I took my last 100 thinking it was plenty. it was gone on day 1 just on food. they were selling bottles of water for $6. And they wondered why we started breaking shit and setting fires. The music was really good though.
@mrpogo72 Because a hamburger, fries, and a soda was literally like $25. Another $25 for breakfast and dinner, and a few $6 water bottles. On day two, 3 of us chipped in on a shitty $30 frozen pizza. On day 3, we left early to hit the Mcdonald's dollar menu.
What she is doing towards the end of this performance is one of the most raw and visually beautiful displays of music awareness that I have ever experienced. Many, if not most artists out right now and over the past few years, were so disconnected from the own music, that they could never feel the music like this.
@rafaelsiegel ...reminded me of Joe Cocker at the first Woodstock... and people made fun of him to calling him spaz and such... but If you are a Musician, you Know what it is like... every true musician has experianced at least One Show they have done, where it's like... "The Music God dropped in for a visit"... and the Music took control... and everyone in the band is in a trance like state as the music flows through you, and out of you... and everyone is in perfect sync. - hard to describe.
hehehe...she's actually not into drugs!...well maybe into one,,,, her music!!!..For a long time I thought the same but i believe when she tells the opposite, saying she doesnt need any "on stage" but confirming with no shame that she sometimes "consume" in other occasions ...i think shes true and love her dearly
its almost like they were hiding the identity of the drummer... Not sure if Taylor Hawkins was still playing with her on this tour or not-- the drums don;t look like his setup in the SINGLE shot that panned past them at a distance... Couldn't make out the face behind the drums at all and the cameras never again even got close to the drum kit.. Weird...
Haha she is so badass. It's so funny how she sing's a happy little diddy like "Ironic" and then pulls some dark Nine Inch Nails sounding shit like this out of the hat. What a pimpette of Woodstock...
sends chills down my spine!!!! fckn GREAT, amazing, intense, wonderfull, superb, gotta love this people... and what the deal with all the BS bout her beein stoned or drunk, just enjoy it... damm!
I do remember that during one of the songs, someone threw a possibly empty water bottle that nearly took her out. It seemed like it had just missed her. lol.
Alanis has admitted she does drugs. See for yourself on the Howard Stern show. My dad and I both think she does drugs before her shows. She's still awesome.
I so agree. After Alanis, Limp Bizkit played. I remember Fred said something rude like alright, Alanis already messed up the mood, GET UP MOTHERFUCKERS, LETS BREAK STUFF. Come on, look at that Dildo. Where is he now??? Alanis is still making awesome music, maybe not so mainstream, but she's awesome. I think she was perfect for woodstock as well. Awesome perfomance!!!
Truthfully, I believe that out of all of the bands that performed at Woodstock '99, Alanis was the only performer that seemed right for the concert event. No offense to any of the other bands, but she was the only one that represented spirituality and love. If you say that I am wrong and that times had changed since '69, then there shouldn't have even been another Woodstock.
@GilbertsonDerick --- I totally Agree... I was at Both... and the First was all about Peace, Love and Understanding... (thank you Mr. Costello) - - what's so funny...
The second shouldn't even have been allowed to use the Name Woodstock, as it was Nothing like the real Woodstock festival of 69...
Not many people sound this amazing live! Her voice is pure! With no editing or mixing. This would have been one of the most amazing concerts! Jealous of you would got to go :P

Like any uncharted territory, I must seem greatly intriguing.
You speak of my love like, you have experienced love like mine before.
But this is not allowed, you're uninvited. An unfortunate slight.
I don't think you unworthy, but I need a moment to liberate...

Must be strangely exciting, to watch the stoic squirm.
Must be somewhat heartening, to watch shepard meet shepard.
But you, you're not allowed, you're uninvited. An unfortunate slight.

Lyrics:
Like anyone would be, I am flattered by your fascination with me.
Like any hot blooded woman I have simply wanted an object to crave.
But you, you're not allowed, you're uninvited. An unfortunate slight.
