What a pro. I hope you were charging admission. Your voicings and riffs were exquisite, along with your nice changes and ideas. From one piano player to another.
I too have back problems. have had surgey on my L5-S1 and suffered a second slipped disc in my L4-L5, around 5yrs ago. It has limited my gigging and practice time, but seeing you play, and Doug McKenzie, AGPraise among others on yOUTUBE has inspired me to no end. Thank you very much Sirs!
She'll be coming to Long Beach City College on the 22nd to give a master class and performance on piano and explaining pieces of art that she painted! can't wait!
Hello rewsnat, good to hear from you, and thanks. Barbara is cueing me when to release. I tend to stay tensed up instead of releasing and allowing the muscles to refresh. It's an injury and pain prevention thing.
Fascinating insight. It's amazing how you're examining/ tuning your technique from such different angles. Is there not a chance that so much tension is dispelled via this method that you could lose some attack and tension where it is needed in your playing?
Hello Jonboyutube, I don't believe so. As BLS says, the piano is very gravity friendly, so the hand falling on the note can create lots of volume. Also, I think the goal is to apply force only when it is needed, and to get rid of nonproductive tension.
I know nothing about the technique you are practicing but what I do know is that this is one awesome version of Misty! Absolutely fantastic playing, and during a lesson to boot - Wow!
You're a follower on Twitter !! Thanks Great job on the piano!! Love from Brazil

I'm dealing with an injury issue too so I'm going to one of BLS's training workshops in about 3 weeks. Looking forward to working with her.
I'm glad your back problems got sorted out & you were able to play again. It would be a crime that someone with your talent couldn't play.
Love your vamping on Misty. Errol Garner would be proud !

Yes, that's a fine piece of Rachmaninoff performance by Ms Lister-Sink on her web site. That alone must inspire confidence in her ability.

I think it's an unusual situation here where,
teacher is secretly picking up tricks, and really
finding out how a piano can be played off the pupil.

Ha! Thanks brettymike. Seriously, this is physical rehab for me, so I can play at all without pain.

What a fabulous fun video to watch! MISTY will never be the same....a little jazz a little swing a little blues and a lot of
7note and Sister Lister-Sink having a grand time! I agree with Lot2learn..Misty was wonderful..lesson or not!!!!

I hoped she'd be sitting next to you while smacking you with a ruler. But alas, she was not. Cool video, I wish it was the whole lesson.
