Junior year i had a 4-5 month conflict with a good friend of mine, resulting in the end with a betrayal from one of my friends, and things seeming hopeless, like they will never be the same again, and we could not be friends again. after a while, though, things cooled down and we became friends again. i'm not gonna lie, the betrayal destroyed me, but after a while, i picked up my pieces and everything became okay again.
Believe me Billy knows exactly what he was doing, otherwise they would've done a simple retake and spliced it.Just imagine how monotonous it would sound if he continued with the same repetitive verse without the delay followed by the laughter, that's substantiated by the editing of these verses during the time it received airplay on the radio. This song is way too long for mainstream airplay without subect to butchering.
I just wanted to say that the laughing part was actually a mistake. He was laughing because he started the verse late, but kept it because it showed how easy it is to make mistakes(going along with the theme of the song). You gotta love Billy Joel :)
and by the way, if there is someone celebrating Charlie Sheen, it's only because there is something refreshing about a diehard coke-and-whore fiend finally trying to make it right. even the angels in celebrate the lost sinner who turns around. it says, if there is hope for him, there is hope for anyone. and no matter how much you hatye to admit it, anger is not your friend, it is not your homey, it is not your backup. it is your slavemaster, beating the crap out of you from the inside out.
Don't forget your second wind sooner or later you'll feel that momentum kick in(one more time) don't forget your second wind sooner or later you'll feel that momentum kick in woooooooah woo! Don't forget your second wind you're only human wooo woo don't forget your second wind you're only human woo woo woo.(close)
This video is such a true story of what Billy Joel went through. His road to success was an incredible painful one of nearly everyone giving up on him, including his girl-friend at the time. Somehow he never gave up. What an inspiration he is. I recommend to anyone learning more about this incredible story about Billy Joel.
I'm making fliers that help people who are dealing with different issues. Do you think that this song should be put into the section that helps people with suicidal thoughts???? Idk if i should bother putting this on, because in my opinion most of the youth today don't listen to this kind of music. For the most part they listen to rap, metal, and rock.... What do you guys think?
billy J. was able to text songs in such a way that he was always talking about "you & your life" in his lyrics...what an artist, what a singer, one of the all time best singer/songwriters/ storytellers of our time!
Billy you truly are the "piano man"...this song (second wind) always gave me hope and drive to continue with any flailing endeavour I may have at hand
Billy, thanks for the inspiration down through the years!!!
I think this song is very underrated and you never come across this song on the radio airwaves which sucks cause this is one of the best songs he's ever done
@Doobie1975 oh exactly. they need to play more songs like this one and Allentown(I don't know why but the strike about the steel mill town accompanied by a racy video) just got to me and I'd like to here it more: though they never told us what was real/iron and coke/chrome and steel/and we're living here in Allentown.
I gotta tell you I'm not big on the song Piano man or "we didn't start the fire" I loved stil rock n roll, my life, big shot, this is the time, honesty, river of dreams
Didn't this song sound similar to a 1970s song titled "This Will Be an Everlasting Love"? which was sung bu a female artist (can't remmeber who the artist was)
@Doobie1975 well the song was in the spring of 75 by 25 year old soul artist Natalie cole(who looks so much better at 60 than those heroin junkie filled days) but this will be was not about suicide...I hated that song...give me Jumpstart, Pink Cadillac, Miss You like crazy, unforgettable and U Finally made me Happy
This is one of my favourite Billy Joel songs ever and I don't even know why.

A nice song buried under terribly dated production. It sounds like someone at home with their Casio.

This is the best set of lyrics:
You probably don't want to hear advice from someone else
But I wouldn't be telling you if I hadn't been there myself
It's alright, it's alright, sometimes that's what it takes
We're only human, we're supposed to make mistakes
(You're only human, ooo-ooo)
