You can absolutely tell they used hydraulic stability on the legs. You people notice how unstable the entire thing is from the torso up? They don't prefer to use electrical/hydraulic actuators because the feedback system is so complex. Above the torso, where the Zero Moment Point comes more into play, the model shakes with all the symphony of motive arrangements.

I love robotics and all that, but how is this one in particular any different to the animatronic robots that have been populating Disney rides for years? Sure, these are more advanced than the ones in, say, Pirates of the Caribbean, but newer rides have animatronics that are far more realistic than this.

Giving the mouth the ability to form an "O" shape would go a long way towards making the lip-syncing more realistic. If you mute the audio, she might as well be reciting "mawawamamawaamawamawawama". Aside from that, I wonder how speech synthesis is coming over there? In a situation requiring actual interaction with a human, I'd much prefer an Actroid be able to generate its own speech based on AI, rather than playing back pre-recorded phrases.
