This is what we are seeing today in Turkey, it is getting conservative each and every day. 2-) The second thing Turks in middle Asia don't use this type of headscarf, Turks were arabized heavily, so people are against that symbol. And again I am not supporting this ban but it is not black&white.

It creates another problems as well. For example a famous Turkish sociologist created a notion called "street pressure (not the exact translation)". So when people wear headscarf and religious symbols, then other people feel a pressure and they look like immoral.

1-) The problem is not headscarf of course, I am also against this ban as it restricts personal freedom, but the problem is the traditional Turkish headscarf is no problem in any place of this country. Most secularists' mother has a headscarf but the traditional one, but for last 3-4 decades we have seen a type that is worn in Lubnan and it is imported in this country for use of as a political symbol. And the rule is, headscarves are not to be worn in public buildings. By the way, for your information, France forbids crosses larger than a certain dimension (I believe anything larger than a small pendant) in public buildings as well. People can leave their religion at the door if they plan on using public money and facilities to study.

I wore a head scarf and long skirts during my hippies years. I was uncomfortable with the blatant sexuality that permeates mainstream society and did not want to be seen as primarily a sexual being.
