  • the things I would do for this man to cook for me.

  • Comment removed

  • What can be used instead of flour?

  • @glassen84

I guess you could start with a cornstarch slurry instead of roux.

  • Everytime he gets out his whisk...our junk falls off our pantry shelves!! CALM DOWN CHEF!!!

  • 25g butter, 25g flour, 300ml of milk? Did you heard that? Thanks

  • I add an egg before the cheese, makes it look and taste even better

  • Why not use white pepper instead of black, makes the sauce stay white instead of looking like bad country gravy

  • @tmacg86 I've seen white pepper 4 bechamel but always assumed it was because of it's different flavour. Good point. Mind you.. how great a volume black pepper would you add? Would it make much difference?

  • he's such a twitchy fucker.

  • This is also the basic Recipe for Country gravy if you replace the butter with sausage drippings and replace the cheese with black pepper.

  • Would a sauce like this be way to rich for pasta?

  • @skaught911 Are you joking? Carbonara is mega rich & is classic.

  • @GameOf2Halves Excuse me for not being a fucking chef :s

  • @skaught911 I didn't mean to sound condescending. On this occasion;-)

  • Oh God.. Cheddar in a sauce for lasagna????

  • @tecktrevi yeah man, no respect for traditional recipes. this ramsey guy needs to put the english touch on everything he does. ridicuolous.

  • @tecktrevi the sauce can be used for more then just lasagna,,, but ya cheddar would not be the right choice for lasagna

  • @tecktrevi A white sauce is not limited to lasagna, ya know!

  • @tecktrevi Yeah Gordon probably doesn't know what he's doing....

  • @skippy13312000 Heresy! ;-)

  • @tecktrevi He never explicitly says this. Watch again.

  • He doesn't mention in the video, but make sure you take the sauce off the heat before you add the cheese. You can see that he does this as well. I still like Foodwishes better.

  • pfft here I thought the milk had to be hot, no wonder I always have lumps. Good to know.

  • @purpleblumidnite I ALWAYS use warm milk! You get lumps if you don't cook the flour out properly! I make a massive bech at least twice a week at work!

  • well this sauce/bechamel it' really very heavy because the flower it's cooked instead of being baken like it is when making the bread...here in Italy we made with onion and believe me if you are eating this with anything that is not LAsagna your stomach would die slowly!!!just kidding ...the wheat is very have for digestion cooked like this but this is the recipe...

  • @MAXXFIGO Try a translator next time.

  • @MAXXFIGO

    Nice tip, thanx.

  • Gordon was on vacation.

  • why is he always hyperactive in all of these videos???

  • @thatasianswagga Crack.

  • @thatasianswagga

    he needs to piss

  • @thatasianswagga It's from a number of things:

    1) Years of employing the best time management skills

    2) Knowing that you cant afford to fuck up your ingredients

    3) The fear of receiving flak (harsh criticism) from impatient/famished or even picky customers; hey, if they pay a premium, they're pretty justified in expecting the best!

    4) To be a motivated & effective team leader requires a LOT of energy for focus and thinking on your feet, especially if any one or more of your team messes up.

  • bechamel with cheese

  • Do you have to use nutmeg?

  • @megamegpeace It is a key ingredient 4 the flavour. Otherwise it's not really bechamel sauce.

  • tip for classic white sauce, rub up and down for roughly 7 minutes, season, and serve.

  • dont wanna sound like an idiot.. but this is for pasta?

  • @fo13ulous A traditional bechamel sauce can be used for pasta, lasagna, moussaka, green bean casserole (Just cook mushrooms first) etc. I love pasta with cheese sauce and bacon :)

  • @fo13ulous basically it is for pasta....but you can also eat it with whatever you like, who cares what other people think..Lol

  • is this good for fondue dip? thanks!

  • I mix tuna with the sauce and pour over rice. Good eatin'. Also very good over noodles.

  • @reimann4 yumm tuna mornay

  • WHHHEEERE IS THE LAMB SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUCE?!!

  • WHERE IS THE FUCKING. BUTTER!

  • @Antiks72 The first thing he puts in.

  • @Pistone84 That was a quote from Hell's Kitchen where he was screaming about the butter.

  • @Antiks72 Oh.... sorry mate. My mistake.

  • @Antiks72 Erm... it's that solid yellow stuff that he puts in as the first ingredient in the pan.

  • Gordon Ramsay is so over now. He's peaked, and it's time for new and exciting chefs to be watched.

  • @SethHesio His restaurants have all flopped.

  • @SethHesio Are you some kind of media twat?

  • @GameOf2Halves No just a fan of quality food programmes. Are you some kind of football twat?

  • @SethHesio My comment bears a direct relationship to what u wrote and is therefore valid; yours bears none and is therefore.. almost weird.

  • @GameOf2Halves Weird is good, you didn't just comment you used an insult and your user name sounds like a reference to football. Are you just a not too bright troll or something?

  • @SethHesio Haha...I'll give you that one. You know what? I've had that user name for so long that it doesn't register in my consciousness anymore. Yes... those football pundits used to say "it's a game of 2 halves". However, Ramsay knows his business that's for sure and has the credentials to back his big mouth up.

  • @GameOf2Halves He's nothing special. He's a loud, brash idiot compared to people like Marco Pierre White. Well done for remembering what you're own user name is. Twat.

  • @SethHesio Then why don't you fuck off to one of his vids. Since you feel he's so passé. Twat.

  • @GameOf2Halves You use words wrong.. I didn't say Ramsay was Passe' I said he was crap compared to Marco Pierre White.

  • @SethHesio Earlier you said "Gordon Ramsay is so over now. He's peaked, ..." That's the same as saying he's passé. There .. you learned a new word today.

  • @GameOf2Halves Yes, that was my original comment. You've won, I've lost to a football fan, this sucks. High five.

  • @GameOf2Halves I like to watch all cooking shows, even if they are hosted by loud, stupid people because sometimes there are cool techniques in the video. So thats why.

  • LOL!! I love this guy! Hes always jumping around!! And his recipes are always AWESOME!! :D

  • 1st you need white sauce to make this :P

  • is it the lamb sauce ? ;)

  • Do you just add this to pasta for mac and cheese???

  • @thasnap Yeah pretty much, just have the pasta ready and mix it into this cheese sauce.

  • What makes Gordon so good is that he has so much passion, you can just hear it and see it every time he cooks.

  • Hey guys, if I want to add Button Mushrooms to the white sauce, at which stage should I put them in, and how much(grams) do you think I should use?

  • where is the studded onion?? thats 1 of the main thing when making bechamel~

  • @SAMR33 If you do that, put it in to simmer with the milk after everything has been added.

  • Gordon Ramsay is awesome.

  • Im glad gorddy is giving cruddy recipes and people are liking it lol.

  • my white sauce goes like this, fap fap fap sauce

  • @escafallen three faps and hes done!

  • @SuperSwend I guess u will learn it eventually but i agree wit the other dude up there Hollandaise and Mayonaise in essence not hard to make but can be pretty tricky for the ones that didnt practice it :)

Anyways keep following your dreams, learning, reading and watching good material will all help u broaden and expand your horizon and skills.. Amen lol :p

  • @SuperSwend lol espagnole ? Dude u sure u learning for chef ? or are u learning for basic cooking ? Better make sure u learn the right stuff ( u see a lot ppl with culinary schools in the differend GR shows all having had mediocre education whilst thinking they are chefs getting a rude awakening in the real world :P )

  • @SuperSwend what about hollandaise and tomato and mayonnaise are you'll not thaught about it????

  • but wont adding the cheese make it a mornay sauce???

  • @nicholassan He's making a basic bechamel sauce with the milk and flour. When you start adding more ingredients, then yes, you tend to change the sauce into something else. But the bechamel is one of the four basic sauces, you can then add tomato paste, or cheese, or cream, or pesto, herbs, mushrooms and so on.

  • I luv your video Gordon, very good instructions, I like your kitchen & your lovely accent. Thx.

  • i was taught to use white pepper, to avoid sediment in the sauce, the nutmeg is the exception.

  • is this sauce suitable for like...alfredo or something? as a healthier version... =)

  • @ibuayah You can but this is how I make my homemade mac and cheese.

  • @MiFFiL really????? how is it is it good?? does it taste like kenny roger's????

  • @ibuayah I think it's quite good. I have no clue what Kenny Rogers taste's like.. But put a sprinkle of cayanne in it, and also bake it in the oven on 400F for about 15-20 minutes after you've mix in the noodles. You can put a bread crumble mixture on top or just more cheese to get nice and crisp. Don't skip the oven though. I've done it.. not so good.

  • That actually looks really bad...

  • @iPhTx3 You've got to be shitting me.

  • The First thing i see n hear- Hand slap!! ;-)

  • man he is so energetic.......... def goin to make some for my lasagna....... i'm making to big portion hmm how much butter and flour do i need?

  • @SuperKingNova Usually equal parts of butter and flour for the roux.

  • my kitchen is smaller than his island! Damn......

  • iv been taught that the milk or what ever ur adding to the butter and flour mix should be hot or boiling?

  • @anders23033 if the roux is hot you need to add cold milk, if the roux is cold you add it to hot milk. this prevents lumps

  • 25g butter

    25g flour

    300ml milk

    salt

    pepper

    nutmeg

    cheese

  • @ethopian13 How many people would this serve? I'm trying to figure out how much to make for just myself.

  • @MrMK94 Depends on what you are making but you net approx the same volume of sauce as the volume of milk you put in.

  • @ethopian13 You forgot to add "Done" :-)
