Make sure you have done a pretalk and engaged the person's attention. You might consider taking a more thorough training either live or via video (see the DVDs on my webpage which offer more explanation and demonstration). Good luck.

hi, ive just begun trying to hypnotize my friends and family, and i am using these techniques and others like the arm pull technique then commanding SLEEP. ive gotten it to work once but every other time it doesnt work and they dont go into any trance, any advice?

is that the best way to induct somebody? put them in a steel bar arm catalepsy and then do a shock induction by slapping on their arm saying sleep and then deepen the sleep into hypnosis?

No, it is not the "best" way, it is merely one of thousands of ways. I was demonstrating conversion of a variety of suggestibility effects into hypnosis and so this video is part of that series. However, this is an effective way - albeit, the hypnotist needs to be aware of keeping the pressure light (it looks like the slap or movements are jerks and hard but they are not).

oh, so you more than likely just pushed her arm down. very effective as shown. if i wanted to hypnotize using this method and they wanted to go into hypnosis, would it work by using this vid, yet still improvising as the situation flows?

You don't have to have a stone face to be hypnotized. She's smiling because we were having a lot of fun demonstrating a number of suggestibility effects in that session. The hypnosis and suggestibility effects are genuine.
