  • the best thing about motoribkes is the LACK of technology getting between you and the machine... please dont make it STANDARD and let it be an optional...

  • @Istoderescu1 Says someone who one day will be very sorry for not having ABS on his bike (and don't get me that I'm-a-very-experienced-rider-I-don't-need-ABS shit; I've been riding for 14 years and I do at least 1 track day every season).

  • @RicardoSS85 Id never say I am experienced until I have had a few track days, but the reason I purchased a bike is because the lack of technology. But from what I heard is that the ABS on the bike is nothing like a car ABS so you don't feel it working, I just don't want to see motorbikes get too technological. The next bike I am going to get will have ABS no doubt. if it would come with an ON/OFF switch it would be AWESOME!.

  • @Istoderescu1 You're a wise man! ABS doesn't detract one iota from the fun you can have both on track and while commuting. ABS - and traction control - are not 'too much technicality', and in very powerful motorcycles they allow you to explore way beyond what you would be doing in a model without those electronic aids. I mean, professional pilots praise these systems, and they know better than us!

  • If you're up for a wild and life threatening ride, consider purchasing this motorcycle. If you are a current owner and are experiencing issues with your C-ABS equipped CBR1000RR, PLEASE MESSAGE ME. For more info, search "ABS FAILURE!!!?" on the 1000RRdotNET forums.

  • hope u had fun in doha

hext time give me a call ill show u around

  • Sorry for being a noob, but can u pull off a stoppie when ABS is engaged?

  • @abafamny90 This depends on the reaction settings of the ABS. ABS is designed to stop the brakes from decelerating the bike too quickly. If you have a more aggressive ABS it may make bringing the rear of the bike up more difficult or impossible, whereas a more relaxed system may allow more rapid deceleration.

  • "I always just use the front brake when I'm riding: road, track, rain or shine, I haven't got the brain-power to use my rear foot on the brake... or the sensitivity"

    Are you nuts?

  • @corngrohlio

That's a traditional racing mindset. There are a lot of guys who just don't use the rear brake or use it sparingly. I generally only use it as a very minor compliment to the front braking, and only when I need to slow down a bit faster than I am. The only other time is when I'm in the parking lot doing very tight maneuvers.

  • @vankuen Maybe it's because I ride a 250 with a narrow front tire and don't have the confidence to brake hard enough on the front to lift the rear. But I use the rear brake in all situations, even if it doesn't do that much isn't it better to be in the habit? When you need it it's there with the extra stopping power

  • @corngrohlio

Ironic, I also ride a Ninja 250R in addition to my CBR1000RR. I don't ride any differently for either one. The situation and environment determines the technique I use for braking and maneuvering, since all motorcycles are built with the same basic design. Try some hard braking using just the lever, the 250 won't wash the front so long as you don't lock it up.

  • @ smasherofsouls - Ya you dumbass it only looks good and thats it....Dumbass

  • the CBR doesnt look like a supersports...looks very dull..

  • @D61664 thats coz its not a supersport dumbass its a superbike i cant see 600 on it its a fucking 1000 and the bike looks beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ABS is great.. but you can't ride non-abs bikes after you drive a abs one.. you WILL forget and squeeze like crazy.

  • How much was your BIKE?

  • this technology was tested on Bikes..... i have bought one (Dema) and this was awsome in speed about 40km/h on asphalt to use FUll break power... .

  • I agree with racefactory900, this is a great system and will save lives. It's unobtrusive and you cannot deny that a well sorted computer will know how to brake better than any human, and that's why I've ordered one.

  • @ 2:20, monster helmet, black & white spidi suit, is that Leon Haslam?

  • Anti-stoppie is a bieffect of the ABS system. Cant lock the wheels = no stoppie

  • Does the bike have anti-stoppie system so if you slam the front brakes it wont flip over?

  • did you just miss the whole video ?

  • @sireartem What time frame does it talk about this?

  • @JacktheSmack He says that if you squeeze the fronts as hard as you can, it will evenly distribute pressure to the front wheel and the rear

  • it might be a noob question... but why do they always have just one light on??

  • one is low beam one is high beam

  • correct

  • they use one during daytime and both at night

  • noob

  • @BtoHulero Legal requirements in some countries dude. It's to assist with making the bikes more visible to other vehicle drivers.

  • noob

  • When they're braking really hard, are they even using the rear brakes? Please comment back if you know. Thanks.

  • Yes, the correct way to brake in the shortest distance possible is to use 70% Front Brake, and 30% rear brake.

This remains true in racing as well an on the street.

  • in racing theyll teach you to use only your front brakes.. your rear ones are pretty much useless (i use my rear in low speeds like in traffic where the speed is running pace). some like to use engine braking/downshifting which will cause the rear wheel to lock up and you slide into the corners.

  • brake through a corner KTMcaptain??? you will turn faster and sharper if u brake before the turn and roll on the throttle through the turn, NOT brake through it, that pushes you to the outside and could get you killed.

  • I didn't say through... can't you read? I was simply saying that the engine is more than adequate for a rear brake, and will also keep you in the correct gear

  • KTM captain's out of his depth.

  • WTF that guy only uses his front brakes? He's losing alot of time in his laps then.

  • these engines produce more than enough braking so all you need to do is let of the throttle, and barely touch the front brakes to go round a corner.

at least that's how I ride, and i'm faster doing it that way

  • I see. I figured they were kind of like dirtbikes and you definatly need to use both on dirtbikes to get the best lap times.

  • WHY??

  • Can I trade that ABS for A Traction control. please

  • the blade is defo the bike to have in '09 not that wank R1!

all we need now is a propert motoGP style traction control style system then we're sorted!

  • 1#omg repsol paintowrk and a "46" style and im sold

2# brakin in sand! you got balls lol, i got a 125 kdx non braided hoses, i CANT lock my front (yes its bled)....so nice though (not a stoppie type person anyways)

  • OMFG those repsol fireblades look so sexy!

  • *of = off

  • my only doubt is, if the repsol version is the only abs version, does that mean repsol and the other sponsors payed for this system's research?

  • repsol is just a spray job i would imagen they all have it.

  • Hello, you're probably right. I've just learned that you can't install this system in the 08 model and I'm a little sad about that. I guess I'll have to keep paying extra attention to the road ;) Thanks!

  • i think the 08 is the complete package tbh .

  • Yeah, I really love the bike 2 don't get me wrong :)). It's near perfection.

  • it could use a fuel countdown meter like 600.. but i agree great bike

  • and also a gear indicator ;)

  • you are an idiot.

  • I had a vfr800fi dualcombinedbrakesystem to learn how to drive more serious bikes -cbr. This is not making justice to the respect of the fireblade fame. But for use daily it´s ok but should´nt. You want safety - buy another model! not anymore..

  • no doubt it the must brak ever made but is it good enough to beat 09 r1 on the track can't wait to see....GO FIREBLADE

  • better tell us how much oil did it burn

  • Soo.... I could take my blade for a ride on the beach now?

  • Also, this won't kill the rush. If anything, it will increase it as you will have much more confidence on the bike and will be able to brake later and accelerate more, while always doing it safer.

  • braking hard on the sand; braking hard on the wet! That's amazing! Now it will be very difficult to outbreak this bike. And I bet anyone all the superbike competitors will soon develop similar ABS systems to compete with Honda's because it will sell more, believe me.

  • I'm not talking about racing competition, but sales competition ;)

  • It's amazing the speed at which the bike brakes, and the stability! And in the wet!! :) Fudging amazing! Now you just have to look out for vehicles behind you heheh. And I bet you can turn (to some degree) while applying full brakes like with all abs systems.

  • the abs is optional, they still sell the fireblade without abs

  • Yeah, stoppies are much more important than safety.

  • you got that right lol

  • Looks like Honda have moved the game on. I expect this will filter on to their full range of premium bikes eventually. Clever move to stick it on the Fireblade first for the sporting cachet.

  • The only people who are against this are fucking idiots who are afraid of some squid outbraking them.... This is fucking great technology.

  • @racefactory900

The thing that has me worried about this are the people that start with these. If they just get used to applying both brakes 100% every time they stop, what happens when they switch over to a bike that actually requires a precise amount of braking pressure?

  • @huffmaster45 Well then in that case, their bike will become parts for us!

  • @racefactory900 I think the thechnology is a good thing, but it should be available as an option or at least you should be able to buy the bike without ABS and the dual combined braking. I say that because many people, myself included, actually enjoy the challenge of driving a machine which needs to be mastered and get a kick from doing it well. I also worry that it is the thin end of the wedge and that other mandatory "safety" features will cleap in such as traction control, anti-wheelie, etc.

  • @racefactory900

    NO doubt mate.

Whatever keeps the insurance down as well is good too.

  • @RedDrag2on The insurance actually dont care what safety features you have unfortunately

  • @racefactory900 no the only idiots who are against this have never ridden a bike

  • @racefactory900 My friend. I own one of these bikes thinking exactly the same thing you are. I implore you to search "ABS FAILURE!!!?" on the 1000RRdotNET forums.

I am the last post under the name "The Natural" on page 22. This bike is downright dangerous. It has now nearly claimed MY LIFE for the second time.

  • I have EABS on my transalp 700 and it is perfect. every bike should have it!!!!!!!

  • Anything that xould save my life on my bike would be welcome. I have been a despatch rider for 15 yrs and many time on a wet road have i nearly come a cropper through braking to hard to stop on wet surfaces that have sent my front wheel slipping

  • for every idiot saying ABS on bike shouldn't be done, are you stupid!? imagine a pathetic driver infront of you decides to stop out of nowhere and you smash into the back of him...ABS is welcome, and it will hopefully save lives

  • I agree with you there aswell, but I guess you'll always have them on both sides, I drive myself and from what I tend to see is drivers sticking out and seeing the bikers allmost gget whacked, usually the ladies driving range rovers or other cars they should be banned from driving lol

  • wow...if any one has one of those,i would be more than happy to take it out for a test run,ha ha.thats some bike, never mind the brakes ,its mean.sounds like a good idea though, especially with some of the idiots on the road.

  • lack of systems kills the rider ;)

  • its fuckin wank why would any want it should be u and the bike thats it

  • It is still you and the bike. It's just a braking modification.

  • i still don't want ABS... it doesn't require any skill

  • 1:48 is that "camera guy" trying to Kill the Biker ?? Lol

  • man tha more i start to look at this new version da better to me it looks...its hot!!!

  • ABS works only on the front brake...i think...is it correct?

  • no the reporter said it works on the front and back

  • i thought the 1098R had ABS too

  • You thought wrong.

  • no it hasn't

  • is this gonna change gp racing forever >?

  • of course not. GP bikes will remain without abs. These systems are always somewhat limited in competition, where the riders are in a controlled environment and, in that case, I can understand why. It's a competition and the goal is to filter out the best rider. But it wouldn't make any sense not to use a system like this on the road where you can easily get under a truck because of slippery conditions. Even Rossi wisely chooses not to ride on bad street conditions.

  • thanks for the feedback, man. yep this thing is gonna save a lot of lives.. its ground breaking. good to know that the technology of bikes is keeping up with the technology of cars.

  • Precisely! :) I also drive a car that's has a 5star security rating (abs, traction control, electronic stability system) So why shouldn't expensive and fast street bikes have security systems? You're welcome! Thank you!

  • Martin bauer is going to use it in IDM championship during his 2009 Season....

  • That's curious! :)

Well, there are still many other ways one can fall of a bike

  • good system on road, no good for showing off... but showing of is usually the reason people die on the roads isnt it?

  • I agree totally with you, and also showing off is not the fastest way to go around a track anyway.

  • Try it on ice (winter riding)

  • Thats all we need. More systems to make crap riders think they are Rossi. More people showing their skill is a great deal less than they realise.

  • I really don't get this sentiment. If a system likes this saves people from injury what's the problem?

Pissed off because some squid is going to outbrake you? ;)

  • ok must be good for the road...but on the track you don't need it!so i hope that can be disable it with a button.ABS=no endo,no drifts

  • Technology designed to protect us and make us safer in our everyday riding but not interfere with the normal handling of the bike. Excellent job on Honda's part.

  • with this system would you be able to brake later into the corner knowing the front wasn't going to lock up?

  • So long as you're upright you can bang both brakes on as hard as you want into the corner and the bike will stay stable and not lock up. You feel no juddering through the levers if the wheels do slip, it's a very smooth system.

  • yeah

  • It's certainly going to make people look at Honda sports bikes for their next bike (me included)

  • way cool.

are they going to offer it on the 600?

  • Yes, both the 1000 and 600 get it

  • I'm guessing in next 2-3 years, 80% of bikes will have ABS available.

  • good work honda!

  • if only it didn't have the combined braking system .. never been a fan :x

i'm sure it has its upside though, but yeah, wonder how many will be disconnecting it

  • well it is a option so you gon't have to get it

  • at least there should be less crashes on the road, won't save them from going in too fast though

  • interesting :)

  • COOL! :)
