the best thing about motoribkes is the LACK of technology getting between you and the machine... please dont make it STANDARD and let it be an optional...
@Istoderescu1 Says someone who one day will be very sorry for not having ABS on his bike (and don't get me that I'm-a-very-experienced-rider-I-don't-need-ABS shit; I've been riding for 14 years and I do at least 1 track day every season).
@RicardoSS85 Id never say I am experienced until I have had a few track days, but the reason I purchased a bike is because the lack of technology. But from what I heard is that the ABS on the bike is nothing like a car ABS so you don't feel it working, I just don't want to see motorbikes get too technological. The next bike I am going to get will have ABS no doubt. if it would come with an ON/OFF switch it would be AWESOME!.
@Istoderescu1 You're a wise man! ABS doesn't detract one iota from the fun you can have both on track and while commuting. ABS - and traction control - are not 'too much technicality', and in very powerful motorcycles they allow you to explore way beyond what you would be doing in a model without those electronic aids. I mean, professional pilots praise these systems, and they know better than us!
If you're up for a wild and life threatening ride, consider purchasing this motorcycle. If you are a current owner and are experiencing issues with your C-ABS equipped CBR1000RR, PLEASE MESSAGE ME. For more info, search "ABS FAILURE!!!?" on the 1000RRdotNET forums.

@abafamny90 This depends on the reaction settings of the ABS. ABS is designed to stop the brakes from decelerating the bike too quickly. If you have a more aggressive ABS it may make bringing the rear of the bike up more difficult or impossible, whereas a more relaxed system may allow more rapid deceleration.
"I always just use the front brake when I'm riding: road, track, rain or shine, I haven't got the brain-power to use my rear foot on the brake... or the sensitivity"
That's a traditional racing mindset. There are a lot of guys who just don't use the rear brake or use it sparingly. I generally only use it as a very minor compliment to the front braking, and only when I need to slow down a bit faster than I am. The only other time is when I'm in the parking lot doing very tight maneuvers.
@vankuen Maybe it's because I ride a 250 with a narrow front tire and don't have the confidence to brake hard enough on the front to lift the rear. But I use the rear brake in all situations, even if it doesn't do that much isn't it better to be in the habit? When you need it it's there with the extra stopping power
Ironic, I also ride a Ninja 250R in addition to my CBR1000RR. I don't ride any differently for either one. The situation and environment determines the technique I use for braking and maneuvering, since all motorcycles are built with the same basic design. Try some hard braking using just the lever, the 250 won't wash the front so long as you don't lock it up.
I agree with racefactory900, this is a great system and will save lives. It's unobtrusive and you cannot deny that a well sorted computer will know how to brake better than any human, and that's why I've ordered one.
in racing theyll teach you to use only your front brakes.. your rear ones are pretty much useless (i use my rear in low speeds like in traffic where the speed is running pace). some like to use engine braking/downshifting which will cause the rear wheel to lock up and you slide into the corners.
brake through a corner KTMcaptain??? you will turn faster and sharper if u brake before the turn and roll on the throttle through the turn, NOT brake through it, that pushes you to the outside and could get you killed.
I didn't say through... can't you read? I was simply saying that the engine is more than adequate for a rear brake, and will also keep you in the correct gear
1#omg repsol paintowrk and a "46" style and im sold
2# brakin in sand! you got balls lol, i got a 125 kdx non braided hoses, i CANT lock my front (yes its bled)....so nice though (not a stoppie type person anyways)
Hello, you're probably right. I've just learned that you can't install this system in the 08 model and I'm a little sad about that. I guess I'll have to keep paying extra attention to the road ;) Thanks!
I had a vfr800fi dualcombinedbrakesystem to learn how to drive more serious bikes -cbr. This is not making justice to the respect of the fireblade fame. But for use daily it´s ok but should´nt. You want safety - buy another model! not anymore..
Also, this won't kill the rush. If anything, it will increase it as you will have much more confidence on the bike and will be able to brake later and accelerate more, while always doing it safer.
braking hard on the sand; braking hard on the wet! That's amazing! Now it will be very difficult to outbreak this bike. And I bet anyone all the superbike competitors will soon develop similar ABS systems to compete with Honda's because it will sell more, believe me.
It's amazing the speed at which the bike brakes, and the stability! And in the wet!! :) Fudging amazing! Now you just have to look out for vehicles behind you heheh. And I bet you can turn (to some degree) while applying full brakes like with all abs systems.
Looks like Honda have moved the game on. I expect this will filter on to their full range of premium bikes eventually. Clever move to stick it on the Fireblade first for the sporting cachet.
The thing that has me worried about this are the people that start with these. If they just get used to applying both brakes 100% every time they stop, what happens when they switch over to a bike that actually requires a precise amount of braking pressure?
@racefactory900 I think the thechnology is a good thing, but it should be available as an option or at least you should be able to buy the bike without ABS and the dual combined braking. I say that because many people, myself included, actually enjoy the challenge of driving a machine which needs to be mastered and get a kick from doing it well. I also worry that it is the thin end of the wedge and that other mandatory "safety" features will cleap in such as traction control, anti-wheelie, etc.

Yes, the correct way to brake in the shortest distance possible is to use 70% Front Brake, and 30% rear brake.
This remains true in racing as well an on the street.

these engines produce more than enough braking so all you need to do is let of the throttle, and barely touch the front brakes to go round a corner.
at least that's how I ride, and i'm faster doing it that way
