i made a pretty awsome guitar strap for my brother, simply by buying a plain black guitar strap and handsewing patches on it. but you could add some old belt buckles, those cool plasic chains whatever your style is. i hope this helps!

About how much yardage would it take if you don't have a pre-made shirt? About a yard? Or more than that?

that really depends on how big your head is and how wide the fabric is. Make your pattern first and then lay it out so you can get a good estimate or how much you need before you go to the fabric store. Quick reminder that most flannels are about 45" wide =)

If you add another half inch or so on the bottom of the half circle shape and that same amount on each end of the middle band, it should be deeper!
