Stalker is the only game naturally scarey. In most games the use things like lights go off and when their back on suddenly monsters are their or creatures jumping out of nowhere etc

But in Stalker you get naturally scared.

And it might not be the most draphic game, but it is realistic (monsters get hit in leg they limp, can't carry too much weight). And, the atmosphere and storyline is fantastic.

Game is great in every way. My only problem with it is the bugs and man this game is way way wayyy to buggy. Save the game and go on a rampage and go back everyone is still in their offense positions. If you go back to an area your quests will be redisplayed on the screen. Bugs are an obstacle of me completing the game since I have everyone wanting to kill me now because I was in the Arena and boom bug.

Actually, for me it`s not a big deal. I like manual saving even better than autosave, `cause it`s so simple - save when you want. You don`t need to struggle trough half a mission just to get to the autosave point. For me manual save works excellent!

There are some bugs and quirks, but STALKER is by far one of the best games out there. The detail and the lighting is really well done and, as the reviewer said, you will want to just stop from time to time and just soak up the "atmosphere" that's been created. Inside the buildings, particularly the underground tunnels, the feel is downright spooky and can lead to honestly scary moments when a mutant or a bad guy looms up out of the dark.

@SMGJohn I prefer the Complete2009 mod -I find LURK too dull with too dark shadows even when the sky is blue - must have something to do with how they make the stealth work. Complete 2009 has stealth options too, and although simpler, still work, and allows for the lighting and weather to be much more realistic!

I just couldn't see how if a mod is about LURKing, why make the lighting so that even on a sunny day you need your light on in the shadows of buildings, etc and made the night so dark you couldn't see anything in front of your face to LURK up to! Therefore both reasons for continuing to use that mod had been devalued. But each to their own of course!

Yes, Clear Sky is the second in the series but is a prequel.

Shadow of Chernobyl is a much better game though. Use some mods like Oblivon Lost and Priboi Story and you'll be playing it for months.
