I am ashamed of the stupid, offensive comments my Bulgarian compatriots are making in response to this video. There is nothing offensive in the video towards Bulgaria, just a good natured humour. However, those Bulgarians that have decided to defend their "hurt national pride" in fact are embarrassing the country and are displaying themselves as hypersensitive, rude, and narrow-minded. This reveals a deep-rooted inferiority complex.

Well you dont know Bulgaria, its history, its people, and basically you dont know nothing about it. Read books, educate yourselves and than talk.

True that it is dirty, but there are also a lot of beautiful places in Sofia, and in Bulgaria in general.

And if you are making fun at people because they are poor (much poorer than you) be sure not to show next time that you sleep in a hostel (motel) with 8 beds in a room which will probably costs you like 8lv a night or about 6USD!!!

Mate, here's some strong advise, no offence at all:

1. Read some books, it won't hurt you. And no, porn magasines and comics are not books!

2. Get some medical attention for Christ sake. I mean plastic surgery does miracles nowadays who knows if you get lucky, they might even make you look like a normal man.

3. Tell your fat mate if he eats another hamburger he probly gonna explode which is probly a pity even for an ape-looking imbreed like him.

The big building is The National Palace Of Culture not a mall and it reminds of the successful communism because: it was build by the communist state. 3rd - the ugly monument is left there to remind of the face of the communism - the absurd and uglyness of the comunist state.

5th - I will post a video with homeless who poop in Portland, Oregon, USA in the middle of its beautiful downtown streets to show the rise and fall of americans...

If you know Bulgaria's history and what we have given the world, you would respect us a bit. There is a 15 minute video that can really make you like us, don't know if it has been uploaded here. We were very advanced before we fell under Turkish slavery. But we are developing again, cool biggest malls at the Balkan peninsula and a lot of other things. You should check summer time sea resorts, although winter ain't bad either. It's not towards you, it's towards people who say shit about Bulgaria.

Well, it is strange to visit a country without knowing anything about its history and what led to all what is described in the video. If you have grown up there and have struggled with the communist regime which led to poverty and misery you would have understood it better. It is very disrespectful, however.

I personally think you shouldn't have started with the probably ugliest monument in Sofia. There are pretty many places to explore and I do believe you kinda missed some of them. Hope you enjoyed the city anyway.
