how fast do the LED colors 'shift'? I might prefer a slower fade in, fade out time.

The CD's can be switched off from rotating at anytime. There is a small switch in the back.

do those cd's have to spin or can you take them out or shut them off because it wil drive my cat crazy

i think some some models have a kind of light show thing instead of spinning cds... probably a more expensive model though

yeah i saw that but i think this one looks the best with the changing colors and the ipod on the front instead of on the top
