Well, I kind of think ole' double R does a pretty fair review of computer hardware ! I'm not the world's smartest on a lot of this stuff, but I've learned stuff watching them. I'll checkout his videos from time to time.
i have a dell xps 435. core i7 6 gb ram and 1 of this hard drive but 650 gb. i can tell u that hard drive fucking rocks i have also an wd raptor 74 and it have no chance agenst this hd. worth a buy belive me
GIGA MEANS 1 BILLION. GIGABYTE TECHNICALLY MEANS 1 BILLION BYTES.
Thats why harddrives show up as 500,000,000 bytes if you have a 500Gb HDD, and then windows uses base 2 to calculate its close-enough version of gigabyte, and divides.
I am not too familar with Samsung drives, but I almost always buy Western Digitals and not one has ever had so much as a single bad sector. They are also top performers.
That said, every Seagate drive I have ever bought has died on me. Also, whenver I see a computer with a bad drive, it's almost always a Seagate or Maxtor.
I have had 2 WD drives that I used to transport data... beat the shit out of them but both of them still work to this very day.
Seagate is OK (I have a seagate portable harddrive for 3 years and never had a problem). Maxtor is crap, I had a 10 GB Maxtor XBOX harddrive and it died after a year.
It was acquired by Seagate in 2006, my 1 TB drive is from before Seagate acquired Maxtor. Plus my drive is not constantly running, I only plug it in when I want to back stuff up.
I have self a Westerd digital caviar but an ATA drive with 80 gigs. You hear really NOTHING from ist , just wenn you turn it on it makes a speeding up sound but then you just hear sometimes a litle klick when she is writing (I have a fully sound islotatet case with watercooling, that hdd is really perfect for something like this!)

thats a shit 30€ case a lá no name :D
this drive is really silent, more silent than my notebook hdd (fujitsi mhv2080ah-pl) and no the the exrta silenter mats are just 2 month old and before that the hdd was silence as now.
and what you knobs are talking about is benchmarking. indy reviews of hardware dont have to state "product a is better than product b". thats what reviewing pc hardware is. an over-view, its pro's and con's, features it has, spec's of the part....
first: again this review is useless without comparing it to other hard drives. the product might be kick ass to you but i must say, your review are not kick ass AT ALL ^^

What is the power supply for the 750 GB hard drive? I have a Western Digital 640 GB hard drive. I need a backup one to store my video files.
essentialeugene 2 years ago
i don't need much electrical power for a hard drive...what consumes much in a computer is video card ,procesor,ram.....hard disk uses less power !

It depends of how much capacity you want or the buffer size. WD 640GB 32MB is a good decision.

1Tb = 1024Gb, just like 1Gb = 1024Mb.
lollipop2kewl 3 years ago 4
No its not. The definition of Giga/Tera is 1 billion / 1 trillion.
Computers calculate in base 2, whereas we calculate in base 10, which by definition is correct.
ChIkEnAtEmYdOnUtS 3 years ago
"lolipop.." is right, 1gb = 1024mb.
