My friend found something online about this. The beeps translate into a picture. The picture is of the companion cube on the moon and it says "Aperture Science" in the lower right corner. :) Nothing special. Just a cool little thing to see.

Sounds like it is purely diatonic, thusly we are looking at either binary or Morse. I will get back to you when I have analyzed the sound. Never mind... that's not binary, there are at least five tones. I will analyze it none the less, as it may be telephonic dial tones as I originally thought.

In case you don't know, you can hear this transmission (or something that sounds a lot like it) in the first Portal by carrying the radio through the first test chamber with you.

@alipdf That can't be Morse code. It has no distinct long and short beeps. More than anything it sounds like old-fashioned modem dial-up. There may be information encoded in that sound, but if there is, it's way more complex than plain Morse.

@xXxpwn3rb0ixXx no it isn't. It's a picture in audio form. sstv, aka slow-scan television. You need a special program to decode it. They used similar images for the Portal ARG. There is a video on youtube that shows what this translates into.

@Pukefirst It is called SSTV. I have decoded the raw files, without the sound in-game (I went into the game's resources.) It gave out 3 different images.

I would recommend using MMSSTV. It's free, and a lot more accurate than RX-SSTV.
