A great alternative MOR "hit" from 1969. The Music Scene did indeed present a great variety of music styles. It was not available in my town, which did not have a primary ABC-TV affiliate.
This performance is from the TV show "Music Scene" from the early 70's. A bunch of the episodes are on DVD also including a great performance of Eydie singing "Tonight I'll Say a Prayer".
I wish I could find this on cd, it has a great beat. In spite of the 70's cheesiness it's really a pretty cool song!
Great song also covered by Kenny Lynch in the UK. Steve's version has the edge, possibly due to his awesomely cool duds (love the jacket & belt, not sure about the table cloth 'round his neck tho') and the trees that look straight out of a Yogi Bear cartoon. Love it!
Could someone please post Steve's stompin' 1963 hit "Walkin' Proud" or "Last Night I Made A Little Girl Cry" (covered in UK by The Merseybeats)? It would be awesome to see a Scopitone or something....
