@KagamiTraumend To make Strato yet another I-take-technique-over-feeling-­every-day band with a guitar "virtuoso", a band there are 13 in dozen already these days? :I Generalization, sure, but towards what I really think. :P Where are those interpretors like Santana or Knopfler? Haven't heard of them in ages since everyone seems to emphasize technique these days. Tolkki was great in both aspects though: there was sincere feeling and serenity in his playing, yet he was technical for his time.

Blah, it was just sarcasm towards lukather1. Everything he said - notes for notes sake, fret wanking and such are just what this whole medley is about! It was done for a virtually unknown guitarist for the Guitar Hero album's release party - why else would you pick up all the most ridiculously difficult pieces of guitar music if not to create the ultimate show off, hence standing out? :D It turned out as a pretty fun piece of music, luckily!

I think he'll do well as the new Stratovarius guitar player. I don't doubt his ability to get their songs down, but I do worry about his writing ability from the other videos I've seen. I guess I'll just wait and see.

It will be neat finally getting an album written mostly by Kotipelto, Johansson, and the rest of the "other guys". Maybe Matias' presence will force them to become a little more prog influenced!??
