@Pr3dProductionsHD it can actually cost much more, a good engine alone can cost between $3,000 and $15,000 but it's worth the fun! I have also heard that target drones, which are basically high performance RC planes, used for shooting practice by the military can cost as much as $300,000!!! expensive toys
yeah, it's big, but nothing more. I guess that doing it that big has taken away time from some detailing, or, when the video was shot it wasn't completly done?
@tomcatmaverik There was still a lot of work to be done at this stage. There is no point in spending many hours on adding the scale detail if it didn't fly.
@IPwn00Bs87 Thanks for the kind offer of engaging in coitus but I'm afraid to inform you that I will have to decline for several reasons. Firstly, I am already in a long-term relationship. Secondly, I see from your channel-page that you are under-aged. And thirdly, I'd hate to catch your terminal case of potty-mouth. But thanks for the offer anyway. Good luck in finding a partner (you'll need it).
so what he really meant to say is that it weighs 411 Newtons. I would expect someone smart enough to build this would know that kilograms is not a measurement of weight.
@davethewave1223221 Actually, a kilogram is a measure of mass and, under 1G (which is what you get on good old planet earth) it also becomes a measure of weight. Newtons are a measure of force, not weight.
@xjet Actually, if you pick up any physics book ever printed you will find that newtons are a measure of weight. Additionally, Newtons can be used to represent thrust. You will find this in the sections dealing with newtons laws just in case you get confused.
@davethewave1223221 I think you'll find that W is defined as M (mass) times G (gravity). A Newton is a measure of force and the force exerted by gravity is 9.8N per Kg so you can calculate the weight of an object under the influence of a 1G acceleration if you know how much force the combination of its mass and the acceleration is producing. It's all semantics really. However, in all my reference texts, w = m.g with no mention of Newtons as a metric for weight.
@davethewave1223221 99.9% of the population uses kilograms when referring to weight. The other .1% use Newtons to show how knowledgeable, superior and boring they are.
@HeatherMardon It's got a surprisingly low wing-loading, there's a *lot* of area. Yes, I think it's about 3m span and 4.2m long. The test-flight video is up now and there's more to come.
can anyone tell me about the relation of rc and real turbines, weather they are more efficient, make relative more thrust and how their relative fuel consumption is?
I assume the operator of this enormous pilotless aircraft has the gone through the appropriate process of consultation with the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority. It certainly exceeds the 25kg gross weight limitation for it to be operated under the rules governing model aircraft!
Thats odd , who in their right mind will fix their turbine by hand with a srewdriver or file, I am not under estimating the owners good craftmanship, but with an airplane this size, I will think twice to do it this way. I guess this is what happens when u dont use a jetcat turbine. Good luck with this project

He is a smart guy no doubt but cut out the attempt at comedy
BRUCE, are you going to finish the Turnigy 9X , Frsky DIY hack that has been promissed for over 2 months. It would seem you dont much care about the RCmodels Review channel, subscribers or the donators
are these proportionally heavy as the real thing, same weight / dimensions ratio ?
