No now days these kids will put u over or through a berm even just in practice.when we rode AMA pro class back then u only had a few guys u watched for,but at any pro level it is cut throat for sure!!!!!nice video!!!!
You guys keep talkin about your 2-smokes (which are fun) but I'm throwing a shout out to the master of the thumper Doug Henry!!!! Henry brought about the four-stroke revolution and is the man!!
@bad39 I like doug henry, and I don't hate the 4 strokes completely but the only reason 4-strokes are winning is because of the rules that you can use a 450f against 250 2t. If they let the 250 2t compete with the 250fs in the "lites class" and made 450 2t and let them compete with the 450fs, four strokes would be outdated.
@skatepunkzero That is because 2 strokes make so much more power than four strokes, which is why the displacement is larger. A by product of that larger displacement is more torque which is why the thumper dominates.
@bad39 the Thumper dominates only because of the rules. The 250 2t out runs and out turns the 250f. If the rules were fair and only same displacement raced each other there would be no 4-strokes.
@skatepunkzero Of course 250 2-smoke outruns a 250f, they are not comparable machines. The 2-strokes make more power then a 4-stroke. They are two different types of engines which is why there is a disparity in displacement.
@bad39 Which is why there is need need for 4-strokes, why give 4-strokes a handicap? Just so they can sell more? Seriously the only reason 4-strokes took over is because the AMA made the rules to favor them. Atleast in the amauter 250, the 250 2 strokes are allow again and are starting to take over.
@skatepunkzero Your grammar is fucked broseph. I'm not sure at what your getting at....... There isn't a handicap on four strokes, they are different types of motors therefore requiring different displacements to be equal. As for 2-strokes being allowed again idk what your talking about, they were never banned. Some factories quit producing 125's because of lack of sales. 250 2-smokes aren't taking over though, sure there are die hard 2-stroke riders but the 450 rules.
@bad39 No what the AMA did was allow the 450Fs to run in the 250 class, the 450fs have more horsepower and torque so it replace them. They allowed the 250fs to run in the 125 class and the 250fs have more horsepower so they replace them. This year in the ams the AMA is allowing the 250 2-strokes to run with the 250fs. the 250fs have twice the displacement and almost 10 more HP than 125 giving them the advantage, same with the 450fs ans 250s. So the 250 2ts will now take over the 250 class.
@bad39 450Fs and 2502t aren't equal? The 450f has about 7 more HP and more Torque making them faster and giving them the advantage and as for the 250 2-strokes taking over in the Amautars they are, in 2010 they let the 2502ts and 250fs run together and at lorreta Lynn most people were on 250-2ts in both the 250 Class and the School Boy class. The only class that had four strokes was the 450fs. I think in the pro level it should be a 450f class and the lites/250 class should be 250-2t.
back the it was "4 stroke, who the hell rides those??!!" now its "2 stroke, who the hell rides those??!!" which i personally think is crap coz i love 2 strokes
back then they had to ride the 4 strokes fast as they could just to keep up with the 250s. Now everyone rides slow because everyone has a 4 stroke lol. I'd love to see 450F run head to head with built 250 2 strokes
You can build a 250 2 stroke all you want it won't run with a 450, and nobody is riding slower because of 4 strokes. I've been racing for over 20 years and I love 2 strokes but my 450 will smoke any 250 stroke. It's not just more power, but more power over a much wider rpm range.
dude...the 2 stroke racing motocross was so beast to watch..watching 4 strokes now gets annoying dude..especially James Stewart..he brags all the time. Jeremy McGrath dominates all. He was so awesome
that was back when motocross was actually kool to watch. Now you can pretty much predict every race because there is one guy out of each class who just fucking dominates!
I hate to say it but Motocross is dying because the racers are killing it. Everyone switching to SX only contracts, younger guys hate the old tracks. Jeff Alessi said they should close Unadilla. Most of the young guys have no backbone, Motocross is too hard, and they only want to work half the year.
RC rocks on the 125 , he is wide open all race long ,SHIT! , and henry on the 426 he was sick , i dont know how he could ride that thing and won the champ!
Still got every round of the 1999 season on VHS. Still watch em' weekly ;)
