@bendadickarnold you if where smart you would realize hitting water fast is the stupid thing to do. all that does is push the water right up the Air intake. Going a decent and steady speed is the key,
that is what happens when u just slowly drive in to anything... u should have had a running start and u could of cleared it mabe could of saved u money
@SpectreOfNorway If he shut it down before the water got sucked into the cylinders, the damage would be minimal, drain the oil, take the plugs out, and crank the engine over dry for a couple minutes, dry it for a few days, re-assemble. No biggie :-)
I don't understand why everyone fights over which 'brand' of 4x4 is better than the other. You could have the 'best' 4x4 but at the end of the day if you don't know how to drive one properly, you're going to bog it, flip it or whatever and look like the dick head that you probably are :P
@WhiskeyMiss - One of the more sensible comments. Brand wars = tedious, people get defensive as they're keen to defend the money they poured into something. Clearly certain vehicles are better suited from stock. Each to their own at least these guys gave it a go. I wouldn't have attempted that without first finding a very long pole to test the depth of the water and tied on a recovery strap to the back end. Thankfully though being as it was a frontera, nothing of value was lost ;-)
Ive done alot of offroading and i still dont understand why people drive their trucks/cars up past the floorboards in water for. I'd just go buy a boat if i was gonna do that lol. But, to each their own..
Haha. That's an Isuzu Rodeo with the 2.2L four banger. I have the same engine in my 2wd Roady and it's WEAK AS HELL. Something like 130hp. It would be ok in a smaller vehicle, but not in a 3,500 lb SUV.
I'm really surprised Vauxhall paired up such a weak engine to a 4wd transfer case.
@fhantazm i owned on of those but it was a 3.2L and a six cylnder. it had some nut to it but i would never take it to deep into the woods or though anything like that.
@kuzco170 I'm not a big isuzu advocate...but they do build the Duramax Diesel engine for Chevy and GMC. And I don't know about you, but those D-max's have more power than more, if not all (I'm Cummins guy, so I prefer it over Duramax) stock vehicles on the market buddy lol.
Keep the tires spinning you would have made it ot the other side NP the front of the ccar makes a wave that goes around the vehicle helps keep the engine bay clearer...but yeah that's nasty deep
Dude nice work, I had my old toyota submerged in mud 3 inches over the roof and it was still going through it. I'm still finding dirt 3 years later.....lol
I tried this is an overly deep ford in my 206 haha, it came up to the windscreen and i only just made it out, it was a good laugh but it missfires on tickover now. had a frontera myself for offroading but it packed in. too poor to get another at the moment :(
fronteras are not softroader they areunder estimated, juts need the right drivers. There is no diff in the centre so a proper 4 wheel drive as well as a ladder chassis, just like land rovers, and as for them being top heavy! with a ladder chassis 4 wheels and drive train and engine with gearbox and transfer box, you would need to carry a jag on the roof for them to be top heavy.
god what a bunch of damn cocks! Hmmm land rovers are that bad they have been around 60 years and so unreliable the military are still using them... its the only 4x4 for the job, and allways will be!
im surprised, i have a lifted, diff locked, touring setup 78 series landCRUISER, and i would have got through that, but i am so surprised how well the little frontera did! and it still started the next day!! try and do that in a landrover!!!!
really? dude your surrounded by trees. many trees meant fallen limbs, fallen limbs means just check it i mean its got to be deep because they made a bridge for it... anywho im sure you learned your lesson but come on dude...
aha should have gotten A Ford and if you dont have a snorkel u gotta Put ur foot to the floor and dont let off u let off ur fucked and how many fuckin times do i gotta say the same thing if ur gonna go offroading get a 4x4 and dontuse a fuckin sushi boat jap crap Americans are the only ones that can handle off-road USA!
How many times to rods have to fly through a block before people realize that flooring it in deep water only sucks water into the air intake and hydrolocks cylinders?
hahahahahha how the fuck are american cars the only one that can handle off road. LAND ROVER. Your shite trucks are to heavy and basically shit boxes. Thanks
Hey everybody listen to "captain america" over her. one of those big morons that thinks Turkey is food, and that French is the language spoken in europe. You haven´t got a fuckin clue do you ?
Nice vid, I have done the same in my lightweight but slower so it held water and traction with 7 kids in! Screw all the bad comments ,manly left by children, obviously!!

Sooooo close. I think the car floated and lost traction, other wise probably would have had it. I know its counter-intuitive, but I think a little less speed might have got it, I think she out ran the bow wave.
and what grounds are you basing that claim on? ever had one ever driven one probably not. well i have one and i know full well what they are capable of and that includes going places where land rovers cant, did you notice that the range rover didnt go thru??? thats coz he knew the same thing would happen to him. everyone needs to get over this "land rover's are the best thing since sliced bread coz they arent
yes i have driven a frontera as a matter a fact and i base it on the fact frontera top heavy suspension is shit ground clearence hmm.. shit again im not saying it cant go off road and maybe show a defender up atall but for going off road wouldnt you rather an aluminim body so no rust and it has been proven that a land rover defender is the best allround 4x4. hence why the shape has never really changed why change something that is almost perfect for the job it was made for.
maybe you havnt driven a sport then, ground clearance on 99.99% of 4x4s are shit till you put taller tyres on them. dont get me wrong i like land rovers but still depending on what kind of off roading you do they arnt always the "best" for everything, id still rather have a reliable 4x4. cost nothing to lift my sport (land rovers =£££'s) taller tyres and there is sod all wrong with it, will follow most 4x4s unless they are jcked up to fuck then pretty much only same would be able to follow
and f.y.i defender and frontera have the exact same wading depth, only difference is defenders leak like a bitch so would of sunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Mudpluga, did you know that when the military go deep wading they drop the tailgate to allow the rear to flood to aid traction?
I wish i'd remembered that when me and my brother went across a flooded ford or about four and a half feet deep in my 1961 landrover. Oh, and i suspect engaging my free wheeling hubs would have helped too. That way, when the back floated and swung around in the current and i lost all traction, i could've driven out, instead of switching of and getting a tow...whoops
dont know how you can say fronteras are top heavy????????they are lower than land rovers so centre of gravity is lower. plus the sports rear part of the roof isnt metal on mine its removable and weighs next to nothing, not top heavy at all. errr no rust on landys you not heard of the very common problem with the bulkhead rusting thru???
First, why would anyone with the intelligence to measure the depth of the water first, then drive into it knowing it is three feet deep, and much too fast too!! Second; To all you idiots that think that "Brand X" vehicle would drive through there no trouble, if you care to look, the vehicle is floating! That is why it went sideways! So no matter what vehicle you tried this in, the same would happen unless you had either 2 1/2 feet ground clearance, or allowed your vehicle to fill with water first
