We exercise our beagle on a treadmill. However, you should not box the dog in with a wall on any side of the treadmill because he can get hurt if he cannot or chooses not to keep up with the belt. I was also alarmed that it seemed like you wanted to see how fast he could go. I'm sure he could keep up but common sense is to increase speeds slowly. Otherwise the dog can get hurt or spooked and try to get off. In your case, into a wall.
we just put up a vid of our beagle on the mill :) Its easier than trying to walk and have loose dogs come after us or 500 people stop us and ask if we breed, and this past winter was HORRIBLE, got the mill out of a house clean up (FREE) Great job Jack!

very cute beagle...yours has has the "beacon" tail just like mine...makes him easy to spot with the white tip at the end of his tail
