You're right that could be the explanation. However, I am still skeptical (maybe hyperskeptical, but in light of the left-wing media control, highly probable) of Youtube search algorithm manipulation (such as injecting additional options based on categories, tags etc... in order to achieve bias), I find Atheist related videos have quite a bit of priority. If you're right then its good evidence Youtube is a legit church of Atheism.

I am not atheist. I have no proof of what I believe in. I am quite content and in fact, like atheist more than I do the full on believers because they are hypocrites. However, I am still skeptical (maybe hyperskeptical, but in light of the left-wing media control, highly probable) of Youtube search algorithm manipulation (such as injecting additional options based on categories, tags etc... in order to achieve bias), I find Atheist related videos have quite a bit of priority. If you're right then its good evidence Youtube is a legit church of Atheism.

@ShockOfDog Atheism is simply a position on a single assertion (that a god exists), i.e. sufficient evidence hasn't been provided to justify the theist claim. Generally speaking, there's no atheist asservation that a god does not exist period, only the aforementioned claim that the evidence for a belief in a god is insufficient. The default position is not that you have to disprove every outrageous statement made, the burden of proof is on the one making the claim, and that is not the atheists.

i agree with your general sentiment, but i think you concede shockofgod's point by saying that asking for evidence for a belief is foolish. wouldn't it be better to simply point out that atheism is not a belief, and thus is making no claims needing to be proven?? if asking for evidence for a belief is foolish, then the rejection of a belief based on a lack of evidence would be just as foolish.

When I consider the sheer scale of our solar system, our galaxy and the 100's of billions of galaxies that make up the universe.... then I would say, statistically speaking, the probability of alien life is very high. I can name plenty of things that would be compelling evidence for the existence of a god. Perhaps we should ask, What would qualify as compelling evidence for the lack of god? But, then, that would be lowering ourselves to their level. In no other field of investigation has anyone been required to demonstrate something's "lack of existence." If something didn't exist, well, what evidence would there be, other than the fact that it simply ISN'T THERE?

atheism goes along with chance. If there is no god everything is chance, therefore your ideology lacks proof.

@thegeniushasreturned What ideology? It means you don't believe in God. That's it. It means that I don't believe in a supernatural intelligent being who created and rules the universe. Perhaps your disbelief in leprechauns is an ideology as well. Can you prove they don't exist?

If they are supposedly supernatural beings they would be perfectly capable of remaining unseen, leaving no evidence behind....kind of similar to how no God or Gods have ever left any evidence of their existance, no?
There is NO ideology or set of ideas that all atheists adhere to. I don't know about everyone else here but I don't think the Universe or life were formed by chance, but that's irrelevant.

A god or a creator is a spiritual being who is beyond human intellect. If god exists we would not expect to find traces of his presence but rather his laws or ability demonstrated on the universe.

@thegeniushasreturned Actually it's ironic that Leprechauns are thought to have Irish devine ancestry. Our understanding of leprechauns could be completely wrong though. They, along with their gold could turn invisible any time they are within human eye sight, or they may have the ability to erase minds.
Just like with God, we don't believe in the utomost certainty that they don't exist, however its the lack of demonstrable and varfiable evidence that makes us reject the claims that they do.

@NativeAlternative the ability to go invisible is not a human one, if you claim it is magic, then we have evidence against it. If you claim it is a spiritual being, then they wouldn't be leprechauns but spirits.
again evidence for a god would be in fine tuning, and the improbability of it arising with chance.

@thegeniushasreturned I'd like to go over this proposition that all atheists believe the Universe and life came to be by chance. Personally I think chance does play a part, but only in the specifics of the current state of existance. But as a I mentioned, this is irrelevant as atheists are not required to make any assumptions of how the Universe was created. Whether we believe it was natural or by leprechaun like beings this is seperate from the rejection of certain or all surviving God claims.

@thegeniushasreturned "Everything formed by chance" is not essential to atheism. I don't claim any knowledge on how the universe formed, beyond what is already scientifically supported. Interesting thoughts on the leprechauns. I say the same thing about a god or gods. If a god did exist, I think it would be evident and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

there is evidence for a creator,evidence is also interpreted different by different people. We all share the same pool of evidence.

@thegeniushasreturned I don't know how the universe came to be beyond what science is able to ascertain. Nor would I be so arrogant as to claim knowledge that no human being has. I've yet to see any evidence for a god. What god-believers tend to call evidence amounts to speculation. "Something's here so it must be created by someone." Not true. Rocks do not come from the rock factory. Trees are not built by a tree-maker. They happen as a result of natural forces.

The problem since the begining of these exchanges is you make assumptions. In no Irish folklore were Leprechauns described as human (as I told you they are supposed to have descended from pre-christian deities), but to leave that ridiculous debate alone chance in itself is not an explanation. As I also said chance does play a part but only in the specific conidtions that are met, on its own it doesn't lead to the Big Bang, evolution etc.

@thegeniushasreturned Fair enough. But we KNOW that natural forces bring things into being. Trees, rocks, stars, etc. Not once have we seen something created out of nothing by supernatural means. We're talking about looking at the natural world and drawing conclusions based on evidence. If you want to call that an ideology, go right ahead.

now that we can call it an ideology the next question is where is the proof for this ideology?

@thegeniushasreturned "Proof" belongs in the realm of mathematics and logic. I think what you are asking for is evidence. Similar to your leprechaun response, if there were a god, we could reasonably expect evidence of a god's presence. An unexplained beginning does not justify postulating a super-being that created everything. If you make a claim (God exists), I don't need evidence to justify disbelieving your claim. You must provide evidence to justify said claim.

I am not atheist. I have no proof of what I believe in. I am quite content and in fact, like atheist more than I do the full on believers because they are hypocrites. Not only do they practice intolerance, condemnation, judgement, and generally cannot be spoken to, but the pose in admissibly erroneous and arguably some of the worst stated questions with just as bad "evidence" to go with them. Atheist's tolerate me. Atheists accept me. Atheist's don't judge me. They are humane :) God bless!
