Yes quite agree, the pity is that this wasnt screened on tv,as it was yet another amazing line up.thankfully, even in this quality, the Cream songs survived, when a great amount of these recordings didnt.I recorded numerous acts from this show, very, very little survived the years.cassettes breaking etc..
wow - this is the only thing Ive run into from NME 67 awards - would love to hear the Beach Boys set as well - all the other years are easier to find than this .....
Hi, well thats the way I see it as well, better to have a poor recording of something, than not have it at all, which I am pretty sure is the case here. Thanks for the comment.
Among the countless others were the Beach Boys who actually won that year- it's mysterious that no film exists of 1967 whereas films of the previous years are easily found.
You are so right, its so annoying,as surely this was one of the better shows of its type,I just remember sitting there open mouthed at most of the show, simply amazing, for well under a £1.00 as well. Those were the days.
@gibb253 I've read in more than one book that the reason this NME concert was'nt filmed for TV was because The Beatles were no longer doing live shows. The network that usually would broadcast it knew the ratings would'nt be as good. Even with The Beach Boys & The Stones. What a pisser.
Thanks for sharing...Any Cream is good Cream!!

Thanks for this audio clip. Very evocative of the time and well worth having, despite the recording issues.

@yardbirdmackay Remember what Mary Hopkin sang: "Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end."
