When there's a budget deficit, you have to close it. Period. States don't really have the luxury of going into massive debt like the federal government does. Governor Christie did that, and he did it by doing what a lot of people wouldn't have dared to do.
Also, by vetoing tax increases and passing tax decreases, he convinces people to stay and to move to NJ who otherwise wouldn't have. That increases the tax base.
Also, his approval ratings are rising. Check your facts.
What most people fail to realize on increased taxes is that our Federal Reserve bank caused the giant spike in home values that resulted in higher taxes and now the values have dropped and people are still paying higher property taxes which results in higher rent and then hurts the poor.

Americans love political leaders that are honest with their constituents, take a tough stand, and tell it like it is. He is a firm, honest, tough talking American which is what the American people love. He is a great leader and if he keeps this up, he could have great credentials for a presidential run.

I like the idea about making NJ an oasis for entrepreneurs. He has good intensions and the people of New Jersey should get behind him. We should pray for him, especially when having to make tough decisions.

@howardsten How about listing off some legislation which shows that he hates all of those things and is helping the rich? I'd say the opposite. By lowering taxes he is supporting all people and preventing them from having to pay property taxes which were a direct result of the teacher's unions (not the teachers themselves) developing ridiculous policies like tenure (can't fire bad teachers), insane pension plans, and salaries which are greater than full-time jobs (teachers can get summer jobs).

@howardsten Ok, I did not hear about him giving his staff a raise. However, I didn't say the Wall Street salaries are "fair", and regardless, it isn't up to the government to decide what's fair. The marketplace decides that. If you buy a big, small, or medium sized companies products, it's up to them what they do with it. As long as they are following all other laws, "fairness" is not a law. Why do you keep calling him a Taliban governor? What does that even mean? Answer without cursing please.

why would anyone agree with what you just said? I work for a co with a STRONG UNION and can testify that becuz of it, I have much greater job security, pay (6 figures) with a benefits package that would make teachers green with envy
so what's wrong with unions then? and how come no job growth out of NJ? is it becuz of all the cuts Christie has made and wont that just diminish the tax base for NJ & WIDEN the deficit in addition to cutting demand for existing businesses?

i dare you to give the average worker a reason why they should not be in favor of having labor unions. I am represented by a strong union. I work for DWP and can tell you that I like other workers would MUCH rather have increased job security and more benefits along with my 6 figure pay. having Christie as our Governor would threaten that security. We do NOT want Chrsitie down here! We DONT want him cutting away at our school budget! And we DONT agree that less is better
