Deathwing was a dragon aspect left behind by the Titans (which are like the sculptors of Azeroth) to maintain order and balance and peace and etc. Deathwing originally had another name which I cannot remember, and during a battle (night elves and Dragon aspects and Cenarius or whatever his name is vs. The Burning Legion) thousands of years before the present WoW time, Deathwing went mad and betrayed his fellow dragon allies and went rogue, he was renamed to Deathwing.

@Armedifus His name was Neltharion the Earth Warder, he was created by the t\Titans after the fall of the Old Gods to maintain balance on Azeroth with the other 4 aspects. The Old Gods where able to get to Neltharion and over time corrupted him and drove him mad. This happened in the War of the Ancients

That Calen, who's "only" a son of Alexstrasza (and Korialstrasz?), is much, much smaller than Deathwing - who is not only an Aspect, but has...umm, an armor - is not surprising.

@111huh111 That was an incident that occurred a good 10-20 years before this. When Deathwing had captured Alexstrazsa and forced her and her consort to mate, letting orcs ride her children. They broke free and fought him off. They thought he died, but he went to Deepholm to hide and emerged just now in Cataclysm from there, rested. Then Alexstrasza and Deathwing have another fight now, in Cata, which is seen above. :)

The big endgame bosses have never actually received a proper killing blow from the players, they either got sent back home, or someone much more powerful helped out. Malygos wasn't as strong as Deathwing, yet Alexstrasza still has to help out with him.

We can have a proper good fight with Deathwing, soften him up a bit, but once his health goes down, someone else has to step in.

Its more of a matter of time and how many expansions you have then a matter of how strong the players are. Players can go from doing 5 damage a hit to having a auto attacking DPS of 2000. level 85's do massive damage with nothing but there bare hands to a low level.

I would have wished for this battle to be much more epic and brutal... It's like Arthas vs Illidan, I expected SO much MORE. The direction is good but it lacks that huge epic battle. Some animations should be more fluid, too. Deathwings voice should be more terrifying. I mean, Illidan's voice gave me the creeps with: "YOU AREN NOT PREPARED." Should sound something like that.

Umm.. He was strong enough to do that because he had the Dragon Soul, not of his own power.. With out the Dragon Soul, Malygos was stronger. Now that he's corrupted and traded his Earth Warden powers for that of Lava and Fire, he's stronger.
