  • It pains me whenever someone says that both this and Coraline were done by Tim Burton. He had nothing to do with them.

  • Wow, this movie's going to be awesome!

  • what a fabulous choice of music! i'm so excited for this! :D :D :D

  • Wow. Toilet paper monsters, gouls, skeletons, creepy men looking at you from behind statues! Perfect thing for Tim Burton. I like his genre :)

  • heh- Zombie nation.

  • man i cant wait to do stop motion like this. but all i have to work with is paper and bits of clay... :(

  • Ha, I love how they have the not-so-scary music playing while zombies and bugs are popping up in every dark corner...

  • This looks perfect. Ohmygosh.

  • you don't become a hero by being normal *brushing teeth* yayayyaayy hahahha *zombie noises*

  • really great work, copy, music. Everything spot on.

  • This looks like it will be some sweet stop go motion....

I can tell there is a little bit of computer animation...but if the two are blended nicely...it actually helps the move.

  • BEST MOVIE

  • To be completely honest, though I liked Coraline, I wasn't blown away by it. However, this, looks superb

  • ok this looks so amazing! and i freaking LOVE coraline!

  • They should change the title to " I Can't Believe Henry Selick Didn't Direct It."

  • What sort of numpty goes to a video like this and thumbs it down?

  • coraline was eerily awesome, this will almost definitely be awesome too!

  • 1:17 HOW THEY GOT ME?!

  • I hope the voice acting is good. The voice acting was fantastic on Coraline, although according to interviews Dakota Fanning had to go through various oddities by recording grunts, heavy breaths and whatnot. They've already taken a good step by having their main character, a young boy, actually voiced by a male. I don't think the movie will be quite as good as Coraline because it doesn't have a solid base like Coraline(book). Although perhaps this will turn out better, I don't know.

  • So, 7 graves at 1:00 - implying one is hidden from view by trees- and 7 people at 0:57 .

    8UUU

  • Say, I do so think his nose is crooked. oUo

  • man! those CGI !! the only problem is the character looks cartonish anyways maybe it's already their trademark

  • @crowarc what

  • @killcows897 Computer-Generated Imagery(CGI) what i mean is awesome!! i guess you understand the rest

  • @crowarc I'm unsure whether stop motion can be considered as 'CGI' or not.

  • @crowarc I'm pretty sure it's actually claymation.

  • @NewAmericanGoth Just a bit of nitpicking here, but it's actually not claymation. It's still stop-motion, but they're using puppets made of hardened plasticine on a skeleton. That means no annoying fingerprints.

    'Cause LAIKA is awesome.

  • @crowarc First of all, this is stop motion which, while it may be enhanced by digital effects later (in terms of post processing) is not really CGI at all. These characters are actually small 3D models that are created through a 3D printer. In fact, most of the set will be created this way and then photographed shot by shot by shot.

Second of all, take a look at other stop motion or claymation films & you'll start getting a feel for the aesthetic. Most animation like this tends to be cartoonish

  • @SmoteyMote No, most of the set was not made by 3D printers, that would be terribly expensive and slow. Set pieces are made from blueprints in the set shop. The props are made by the model shop, lit by the practical lighting guy, and set in place by the set dressers.

  • @SmoteyMote wow didn't noticed that anyway thanks for reminding me

  • Looks like the coolest movie ever.

  • Song?

  • @FreeBirdQueen19 Season of the Witch by Donovan

  • @mrbombaday Thank you!

  • thumbs up if the slug through the nostril got you the most

  • Niiiice, I can't wait to see it (And I'm almost 21 years old! I dunno, just love animation)

But Norman's hair reminds me of Bart Simpson for some reason XP

  • wow what a shit choice of music

  • That kid has the greatest eyebrows ever. I want this movie.

  • At the beginning iknew it was from the creators of coraline :'D also I'm watching it right and can't wait for this movie to come out already

  • is it computer animated or stop motion? (maybe both? seriously a lot of this trailer looks really realistic)

  • @lava1o It's a bit of both. The bulk of ParaNorman is stop-motion, and Im guessing some special effects and the 'finishing touch' for the stop-motion is made up of CG. While most movies are using CG as the 'meat', in ParaNorman it seems like it's being used as a spice to flavor and tenderize, haha

  • It warms my heart to see them doing more stop motion animation. After seeing the amazing-ness that was Coraline, I can't wait to see what they can do in this one.

  • August 2012? I can't wait that long! >.<

  • Holy crap the way they did the trailer is amazing wow. Trust the team behind Coraline to do this.

  • @disneyfundo99 And since what trailer has needed actual audio from film? This trailer is artistic. It doesn't need to be somekind of action filled with original explosions n' stuff. It's just plain artistic.

  • @disneyfundo99 This is a teaser trailer. The first trailer for Rango was a lot like this (it just had the wind-up goldfish and that was all). As the theatrical trailers are released, you'll be able to see more clips, audio, etc. This trailer is literally meant to tease you (and besides, the movie's not coming out until late next year; it's a bit early to be unveiling much of the completed footage). Just hang tight until more trailers are released! :)

  • Loveeeee it.... can't wait to see it

  • Looks better than a Coraline!

  • dope!

  • !! HAHAHAH XD they got pauly D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gonna be wicked!! =P

  • Looks brilliant!!!

  • This looks like Coraline except with the Genders reverse. Though, Not necessarily a bad thing since Coraline was awesome. Hope this is great too.

  • @SKellingJACK154 Coraline was pretty awesome, but I had nightmares for about 3 days after I saw it

  • WOW! That looks amazing...
