  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

  • I'm in Texas and I was telling a guitar playing friend of mine about GT. He said "I know him." Turns out his car broke down so he went into a bar in Nashville and ran into Gutherie. They hit several other clubs checking out bands, and my friend didn't know he was a pro player until he saw him play later. He's a fine player for sure.

  • Gutherie is fast yet melodic--not like a lot that work mostly out of the blues box. Don's digging it too.

  • I wandered into this bar one night without knowing what I was getting into...and this guy, Guthrie, was up there playing and I just stood there with my beer in my hand STUNNED. This guy is really amazing. Great friggin guitar player.

  • great picker ......a thrill to watch

  • Wow! Guthrie's the man!

  • Guthrie Trapp should not take a back seat to anyone in Nashville, orf anywhere else for that matter.

  • What a kick ass guitar picker and he resembles Vince Gill, Steve Wariner and Alan Jackson"s guitar player all wrapped up in one. Literally a smokin' player.

  • Saw guthrie in alabama with filthy rich. kick ass band, kick ass guitar player

  • I used to watch Guthrie in a small club in Louisville Ky. It was a jazzy type band, Him and Nick would also do a two man thing there. Was just amazed all night long. Its good to find him moving on up!! Nice guy too!So treat him well Nashville

  • Guthrie Trapp really shows us how it's done! You can't beat Roberts on Broadway! Plus, Don Kelley has "4 kids and they all need cigerettes!" LOL! Great Bunch of guys! God bless!

  • Wow.....this is almost like jazz chicken picken?

  • Nothin' better than watching the Don Kelley Band @ Roberts w/ a ice cold Pabst. Has become my favorite spot here in Nashville.

  • Guthrie is a great musician, from Patty Lovelace to touring w/ the Jerry Douglas band, hes great!

Talked with him several times while he was playing with Don on broadway and he was always great to be around.

  • Guthie is my favorite but J.D. is Great!.....Guthrie just stands there and plays the shit out of the thing where J.D. is more of a showman....either way its great!

  • Right you are. they both have very different styles, but bothe are AWESOME! guthrie has more bluegrass style influence and is much cleaner but JD has a very brad paisley esque style which is great. I wish i could play like them!

  • In early October '07 I saw JD Simo perform 'Ghost Riders' with The Don Kelly Band and it blew me away. He is a good guitar picker and entertaining performer. He really lit up the house. I believe that Guthrie Trapp is good, too. Now I would like to see a video posted of JD performing 'Ghost Riders' on YouTube, as well as Guthrie. Someone that has a camcorder and lives in Nashville needs to video JD at RWW and post it on YouTube.

  • JD couldn't tune Guthrie's guitar.

  • Agreed. He has a lot more hair, though....

  • lol. that he does

  • Guthrie is one of the best pickers I have ever encountered, and by far the best I saw on Broadway...Bravo Guthrie!!!

Hey, if anyone has some video of Guthrie doin Ghostriders in the Sky, PLEASE post it! It was a religious experience for me the first time I saw him do that tune.

    Mike

  • Hey Guthrie...

    great job ..nice pickin'

i sure would like to jam with you...

    Frank

  • Funny you say that.. my little brother was at Joe Glaser's place yesterday getting some work done on his guitars when JD Simo walked in & they talked for about 30 minutes

  • I was in Nashiville the second week of October 2007. Guthrie was there and set in for a few songs. Awesome picker. The new cat playing guitar for Don is a young guy named J.D. Simo. He in my opinion is equally as good as Guthrie although they each have their own style so I am not saying one is better than the other. They both just flat played their A-double-S off! Never go to Nashville without stopping at Roberts on Broadway. And thank God Don keeps it traditional country.

  • I was in Nashville recently and from what I heard from talking to band members was that there were also some issues with them getting to loud....and Guthries not turning down...heck if I could do that I wouldnt either but I would say its more like what Coaltrian said....Hillbilly add more please!

  • Why did Guthrie quit playing Broadway?

  • I spoke with other members of the band and the reason was Guthrie felt the music may have become redundant, which seems to be understandable. Don Kelly wasn't trying to break rules. He is a traditionalist, but Guthrie cut his teeth with him long enough and felt he needed something more progressive. Either way, that whole band was as good as it gets and all touch notch personalities.

  • Ive got a ton more just havent had time to add them.. Talked to Guthrie a few days ago & he has quit playing on broadway... Too bad.. those were some great shows

  • shoo fly shoo!!!

  • whoo whoo !!! chugga nugga choo choo bitches

  • more please

  • More

  • KICKIN ASS!!!

  • great playing !

  • Thanx for posting this!
