Im not sure what happened to this great country. My parents told me that during WW Two everyone was behind the war effort in one way or another. No one dared to say anything against the government or the military or the war. Every able bodied man and a lot of woman lined up to defend the great nation. My father and all his brothers joined back then. Later I joined and served my time and now my son has joined the Marines.

Saddam has never attacked U.S. and was at one time supported by the U.S. with money and weapons (a fact documented on C-Span). That is what the US Coast Guard and the local police departments do. They handle domestic issues. That is not the responsibility of the Marines or the Army. Iraq had no terrorists under Saddam. 9/11 terrorists were not from Iraq. The invasion turned many people against the US and increased the number of terrorists inside and outside of Iraq. The solution is to negotiate and accept that you won't get everything you want given that a lot of what the US wants is not it's fair share. Communist China tortures and harasses it's population and yet Bush and Obama are perfectly happy to do business there. How come we are willing to invade and destroy Iraq just to bring them freedom no matter what, but we are willing to compromise with the dictatorship in China? We should draw the line and say that invasion and bombing are not an option.

That is what the US Coast Guard and the local police departments do. They handle domestic issues. That is not the responsibility of the Marines or the Army. Are you really going to wait for Al qaeda and the Taliban to come knocking at your front door some night before you do anything? I dont think that is a wise plan.

Iraq had no terrorists under Saddam. 9/11 terrorists were not from Iraq. The invasion turned many people against the US and increased the number of terrorists inside and outside of Iraq. Bombing, firefights, neighborhood raids, and detention of random Iraqis is a very effective way to destroy their economy and inspire impoverished and traumatized Iraqis to fight against the US. The more you track them, the more they breed.

because the point is to get the most out of you during 8 years you follow orders, and then you have chronic back pain and injuries for the rest of your life, but you are not in service any more, so they don't care. come on - useless equipment they make you carry around, the harassment of female soldiers, the damage to your hearing and the chemicals you inhale while shooting. very few people come out of the army healthy - smoking, alcoholism, depression, back pain, and toxicity from weapons.
