So is it wrecked beyond repair or something?  Not covered by insurance? I mean you see F1 cars getting wrecked on friday practise, and there as good as new by saturday qualifying.

Usually it's just parts such as the front wing that get wrecked, in that case they bring spare noses etc that can just 'clip on' so to speak. If it's a massive crash (such as Kubica in '07 for example) then they'd just go to the spare car instead.
