Just had the privilege last week while vacationing to meet Denny Weaver, he was the lead guitarist for the Fabulous Wailers at the time. He was telling me about this concert, a friend of his was running sound and he was hanging out with him. He even gave them an army blanket he had with him for Hendrix to stand on to try to reduce chance of shock! Said it was an amazing gig and he remembers watching Jimi look up to the sky in the pouring rain playing his heart out like he wasn't even feeling it!
I dont know what im onn right now, but seeing jimi in this video makes him look like hes one of those ghost encounters; that showed up only for a short limited of time. With the red outfit and the long sleeve things that dangle down lol Lord of the Hippies, God of the Guitar, King of the message!
I experienced Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox at the old Sick's Seattle Stadium where, as a kid, I'd seen the Seattle Rainiers play baseball. I'm guessing that a large percentage of the audience had "dropped" acid (LSD). People were sharing "joints" (hand-rolled cannabis cigarettes). (continued)
Yup, I was in the crowd in close proximity to the stage and the person shooting this footage. Can you say flashback? What was so literally electric about his performance... it was wet and rainy. When he played and simultaneously hit the pedal on stage, he would jump up/back as if he had been shocked...and probably was. Talk about being connected to your instrument and music. An incredible memory etched in my mind.
Hard to believe but I was just about 4 years old and remember this cause my Grandparents lived up on Mt. Baker and we could hear it loud and clear. My Grandpa helped paint the Stadium!
A lot of people, like me,didn't have money for a ticket. (I had spend mine two weeks prior at the Janis show at the same venue). A couple hundred of us were standing on the hill behind the stadium listening for free. They put up the tarps, the infield emptied, Jimi came on, came out from under the tarp and waved us down! I saw the show standing right at the stage for free!

A couple hundred of us were standing on the hill behind the stadium listening for free. They put up the tarps, the infield emptied because of the heavy rain, Jimi came on, came out from under the tarp and turned to us and waved us down! I saw the show standing right at the stage for free!
This was right before the rain really started coming down. The show was delayed while they rigged tarps over the band. Many people headed for the grandstands when the rain came down but just as many just stood there. To be close to Jimi. Don't believe things you read in some books that the fans were disappointed by Jimi's performance. Jimi was so humbled by people's willingness to stand there in the rain he performed an extra long set. I was there, in the rain.
I was there too... I recall the first half of the set was a bit sloppy but it did get better. Jimi mentioned that he'd been drinking scotch with his dad that afternoon. This was the third and last time I saw Hendrix in Seattle, the best gig of the three I saw was the one in the Coliseum with the original Experience, I think in 1969. That was a perfect show.
@RandyHansenMusic Would have been nice if you could have captured Jimi's show with a great sounding audience tape instead of the crap recording that circulates now.
Boy this brings back memories! A four way hit of orange sunshine and Jimi playing machine gun in the rain! The music scene back then was "FAR OUT"!!!!
"mediaomar said: "Hey man I was there I think I was righ next to you cannot tell shot not in focus anyway best $5 concert I ever went to anyway rainned almost all day ..."
Randy Hansen was there, too. I remember reading somewhere where Randy related he was very close to the stage. So close, in fact, that rain that had fallen upon Jimi dripped down off him (Jimi) and upon Randy. The rest is history.*

I do remeber when Hendrix played the Star spangled banner lightning in the sky and a black tarp over his head with a lot of water anyway thank you for posting the movie it is a day I will never forget ... This little Seattle movie was filmed on July 26, 1970, the IoW performance that was released on DVD is from August 30, 1970. It sure looks to be the same shirt, but I am sure Jimi would use most of his clothings during several gigs ;-)
That scoreboard is now at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, BC. Even cooler is that Nat Bailey Stadium was constructed in '51 using the blueprints to Sick's Stadium..
if theres audio to this...y dont u get it and que it up to the correct timing so i dont have to sit here in silence. its like giving me a picture of a glass of water while im stuck in the desert, pointless.
This image is not protected by the Jimi Hendrix Estate's copyright, the music is. Just put on a record in the background and go back for the few minutes it takes. You should make it, unlike in the desert with just a photo.

Hi Cutis 1000 -
I was in attendance at this show and favored the video - not the videographer. Remember this was 40 years ago (1970) - 8 mm Film
RIP Jimi Hendrix -
Peace, Love and Light, Randy
