  • Unlike most American railroads, Norfolk & Western used single-chime whistles like many European railroads, so a N&W engine like 475 would tend to sound like a European one.

  • i love going there in the fall

  • sounds like a German steam locomotive whistle..

  • It's not... It's an AMERICAN Norfolk And Western RR 8 inch Hooter whistle, commonly put on Class M 4-8-0's like 475 until the 12 inch hooter was made which was deeper toned.

  • true...but the sound is very similar to the whistle of a German 01 or 044...

  • 475 is my favorite locomotive.

  • Mine too, but I have to be honest I don't care for the whistle.

  • At least she had a different whistle in Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

  • The whistle used in Thomas and the Majic Railroad was probably a sound effect.

  • I loved it, especially whne 475's whistle echoed.

  • Splendid video Len!

  • Wow she is moving fast.

  • I got this same shot for a film I'm making. The only difference is I didn't zoom in on the train and left the camera in one position.

    Very nice.

  • That was taken from the look out tower at the Cabooses motel.

  • Nice angle. Where is that shot from?
