  • "you're all very attractive [a tractor]."

"a [large black] envelope" (suggest something large and black)

"I haven't told [towed] any of you what's in there."

"Be very carefull not to say anything or [make any noises] that might give it away."

    *laughing*

"remain absolutely silent. And absolutely [motion]less."

"If he gets it right or anywhere close you mus[t react to] let him know"

James also knew it was a drawing: "scream at james over and over again what this [drawing] is"

  • Beautiful bit of language seeding. "Attractive" first and then when he's blindfolding the guy, saying "A" emphatically with a pause -- leading, of course to the guy finishing the word in his head "tractive." But attractive is not a noun, is it. However "A tract" is very close to "a tractor" and so that is naturally what the fellow picked when asked to form a picture. Brilliant

  • Beautiful bit of language seeding. "Attract.ive" first and then when he's blindfolding the guy, saying "A" emphatically -- leading, of course to "tractive." But attractive is not a noun, is it. However "A tract" is very close to "a tractor" and so that is naturally what the fellow picked.

  • The dude's drink disappears off that box that Derren places it on.

  • 1person missed the like button LOL

  • A great example about how noetic mediation works. Nice clip.

  • thank you for inviting me,you're all very aTRACTOR! lol :P

  • @illusionmagic19

Thoroughly tested... not working, not even when I used a favorable environment.

You don't have to take my word for it that it doesn't work, but of course, you don't have to take Derren's word for it that it does.

Just try it out, and if you live in an English speaking country, all the better: you can repeat the exact same routine that Derren used here, with the exact same words and body language.

  • @reghin79 I've done something like that :) It works! :) check out my videos for it :)

  • @illusionmagic19

Wow, thanks mister Indian, you've made a believer out of me. I have one for you too: 320,3,11. That's page 320 of the same dictionary, column 3, paragraph 11; and in case you have a different or revised edition, it should say "fraud" :)

  • @reghin79 Aww... you're the non-believer I was when I couldn't do all this. :) You were impressed enough to pick up your own dictionary and look for the word.

AND, what I meant was see, "Thought Projection - Live." It's the same effect as this one :)

  • @illusionmagic19

Well, I was going to give you a made up number like 234,3,4 but then I thought it would be much funnier if you actually found the word in the dictionary. But then I realized that if you owned an older or revised edition with no more than one new word, it would spoil it, so I told you the word.

Now obviously I know what you mean by "projecting thought", but I also know how flawed this paradigm really is. So no, I wasn't actually impressed, I never even looked for your word.

  • Also, The Boxs behind the chair have a big wheel and a small wheel on them.

  • James just got laid.

  • :27 he slips the words "a tractor" into "attractive". the conscious mind doesn't hear "a tractor" because there is no context for saying that - so it assumes he said "attractive". he substitutes "towed" for "told" to reinforce the tractor image. he chose that guy because he could tell by his blank stare that he was already suggestible. When he takes the guy's drink he is establishing dominance over him which puts him in an even more suggestible state. a combination of NLP and basic psychology

  • You forgot some other suggestions: 1:57 you reman motionless 2:17 You muT REACT TO let him know

  • @aiwassiva I replayed this and he does say "attractive" and "told" or I've been taken over by the power of suggestion:-)

  • Ya the greater part of what Derren does is being able to see who is in the suggestible state in which he says it, "Ill take you the guy looking right at me"

  • Comment removed

  • look at the boxes behind the dude those are tractor wheels

  • there are so much wheels out there, how should he know it was those from a tractor

  • "I havent Shoved and of you or towed any of you" brilliant

  • I'm hearing: "I haven't told any of you and haven't told any of you"

    .. Listen to it again.

  • Check My ChanneI, I got the latest full episodes of Derren Brown!

  • Absolutely brilliant!

Your all very a tractor!!! Classic!!!

  • You're all very 'a tractor'?? You must 'react to' let him know??? 'Think of a tractor ya' fucker'. Might have imagined that last one.

  • he subliminally says it at 0:27

Then he says "large" and "black"(smoke ) Derren is just fucking brilliant

  • Comment removed

  • and notice the boxes in the back...one is moved more towards the back of the table than the other, which is represent the smaller wheel or the front wheel of the tractor. From far, you would see that one box looks smaller than the other due to the distance. Also notice how he sits in the middle, sort of like a cabin on a tractor.

  • also "MOTION-less" and "anyWORK close" with "atTRACTive" and "reACTOR".

  • Also when he said 'let me TAKE YOUR drink'

  • Interesting explanations, I'm sure you're right it's no coincidence he used those words. On the other hand how come I, watching it on youtube, wasn't thinking of a tractor before I saw the card? He's a bloody master, I'm still mystified.

  • genius

  • its "A" blindfold and "react to" = reactor=tractor

  • A bit TOO strong of an effect for me..

  • Neuro Linguistic Programming has been used for decades even befoRe we knew the name for it. nastyrohin you use it yoursElf without even reaLising it just to get what you want.

  • "I've been had."

proper english for: I got pwned!

  • @semiautosyclone So fockin funny!

  • clever!

  • Theres another subliminal hint at 0:27. You'll spot it :)

  • good spot.

  • what is it?

  • aTRACTOR(ive)

  • atractive?

  • and when he says react.(tractor)?

  • "Now I know what you are thinking. How did he know what was drawn in the envelope? Clearly I must have detected in his voice the accent of my home town, Bristol, so he could only going to be thinking of a tractor, or marrying your own sister. A tractor's easier to draw, so Bob's your uncle and your Dad! And you'd be right!" - Derren, link from E4 Mind Control Night. LOL

  • True I spent a night in Bristol once and they were all related! I think you've solved it.

  • he could have gone to oxford..but he goes to bristol? wth lol

  • He also arrived early to the party and probably had this guy picked out after he was carefully bombarded with other subliminal hints. Finally, if you notice, there is a break in the clip where part of the speech was cut out. There were probably important things that Derren didn't want public.

  • Yep, he said "you musT ReACT tO let him know", etc.

  • he also said you must let him kno...so i dont think he is doing it with nlp....nlp is bullshit..

  • nlp is not bullshit my tutor studies nlp and he got me a lot of times with it (he made me scratch my head)

  • react?

  • The references to things like aTRACTive I think are a bit of a red herring. Were suggestion that powerful, people would be simply bombarded. If the picture had been a bottle - people would be as easily saying "oh well, he said I'll take your drink... he was standing in the shape of a bottle...'. If you look hard enough, you'll find suggestions for anything. I think the mechanism of the routine is a lot more safe that relying on suggestion.

  • Did he say attractive or a tractor. perhaps he said a tractor and the consious mind then filled in the gap making sense out of it. the mind then having attractive as what was meant to be said and having a tractor placed in his sub consious becoming the first word he word think of when asked. also using emmbedded command tone.

  • and notice the "chair+desk with two large boxes" setup, wich gives the image of driving a tractor

  • aTRACTive, large (envelope), chap st(e)arring, sit, noises, motion(ls), scream at, sound out loud, react..

plus the hand gestures in the beginning..

circle in the air, envelope as steering wheel

  • Was thinking the exact same thing.

  • "attractive" yes.... otherwise... not a clue

  • I was there . . . on the night there was a huge inflatable tractor outside the Union, we all ate cake which had been made in the shape of a tractor and Derren had come with his favourite sheep . . . amazing.

  • LOL HAHAHA

  • "you're all very aTRACTive"

i don't know. a memorable, and funny use of words that sticks in your mind, maybe?

hypnotists pick out people in the audience based on how they react to what he says. Derren was a hypnotist before so i'm sure that he understands how to see who can pick up on hypnotic suggestion.

  • i think that's a bit of a long shot...but yeah it's the only one way that really seems possible for him to do it through suggestion. I think when he says the TRACT bit he nods, and then later he nods before putting the blindfold on the guy.

it's seems like a real long bow to draw, but that's the best guess. there are plenty of examples of subliminal suggestion through less.

  • my thoughts exactly. I know that theres NO way that "attractive" is the ONLY way that he could get the word "tractor" across. I'm sure that there might be a couple more subtle things that Derren may have used.

  • I never heard of that, seeing how they react. I think you may be thinking of a suggestibility test. Because otherwise it wouldn't make much sense to me. I dont know.
