This is probably my favourite of Ewan MacColl's songs. I do wish he didn't pretend to be the victim but instead project from his own viewpoint. Luke usually sang it better than this, he really loved this song.

While i tend to believe the "if you can't do the time, dont'do the crime.." theory, Luke manages to bring home the utter desolation of prison life and the pain and loneliness associated with it.Luke almost transports you to a cold,wet cell, just by the power of his voice. Simply amazing.

Songs Of The Workers is a really hard CD to get hold of. took me almost a year to get hold of it,
in the end i had to put an add in the local paper, a lovely woman in howth sent it to me :)
