@detahdomo Ditto. Well, I sent them because they were constant members of my party, so I knew how they fought and knew it well. They DID come up with a hilarious reason to be there. Wynne's the best actress evar. Though, Alistair was with me when I surrendered to Ser Cauthrien, so he was in the cell with me, and no guy was beside us.

@arvideriksson It's not mandatory. During the rescue of Anora, you have a final fight with Ser Cauthrien. If you win, then you leave the castle, and if you lose you are sent to prison and you must escape yourself or be rescued by the party members you want (you play as them).

@ZM7241994 yes, he probably got captured during the Human Noble raid Url Howe through on the Cousland family. And as Loghain and Howe were allies from the start, and the deal for this alliance was that Howe could capture the Cousland's Castle, Howe probably found Gilmore hiding or captured spared him for Loghain to kill in Fort Drakon.

@BlackCrowWFH I figured he was killed when Howe's men broke through door of the main hall. Though when I saw that dead guy I was like "It's Ser Gilmore!". I was hoping I could break him out of Fort Drakon or something but you can't which sucks. I also wonder what happens to the son and first lady of that noble woman who was visiting Castle Cousland. You know the lady who your mother is speaking with when you run into her.

@ZM7241994 they all die, basically everyone dies except for you. if you go down the hallway there are two doors, the one on the left has the old lady you are visiting, and there is an option for you to sleep with her first lady/son (depending on your gender) and instead of you opening the door to see the servant quickly getting shot, they open the door and get shot.

@jamquackers I know what happens if you invite either of them up to your room but I'm curious as to what happens to them if you don't. I didn't in my first playthrough but never found either of their bodies and I checked the study. Later on, I found that elf lady's daughter in the alienage who said her mother hadn't returned from Highever yet. So, what happens to them? DAO should've explained the origin stories a little better.

To be fair, it is not possible for the developers to program in the voice actors saying every name you could possibly come up with. I mean, I have several playthoughs, and in one of them I named my female Dwarf Commoner "Octavia," which isn't a common name and thus doesn't justify an entire voice clip devoted to it.

And then there are the players who might come up with something like "Sheerock" or "Asmolius" or something equally nonsensical.

That's why your name isn't voiced.

But no they are not default if you say your friends are waiting for you whoever you got to join you will try to help out. its best to take morrigan and zevran because they know how to trick a guy or two and you get some approval from them when they rescue you.

I remember waiting for Sten and Zevran to come for me. Zevran had the slyest silver tongue and a quick mind, able to avoid any bloodshed by either fooling the guards or sneaking into the shadows.

I wanted to see how Sten would top that, reloaded and talked to the first guard. Guard said “Who are you?”, Sten said “We are here to deliver the… something… this is pointless.”, and slaughtered the whole building.

I always take Alistair with me, but will give leaving him behind a try ;). Also, I don't talk to the woman at the door, I talk to the guy you see when it shows the weapon in the room. Him and his friend get into a fight and thats how you can slip past.
