Fck this crap, its very okay to luv domestic animals(as @Jeox143 said they cause alot of trouble),but not okay to luv amphibians, reptiles, arachnids etc(exotics in general),bcuz many idiots of dis shitty population hav been brainwashed thinking tht all snakes and spiders are evil, fck you! PS. my msg dos not mean i hate all domestics i luv my pup, hammy, birds and my tortoise.
hopefully congress/the senate does the right thing and terminates this bill before it gets anywhere near passage.......one can also hope the "pet industry" will use its lobbying heft to stomp this abomination of a proposal into the ground also.
Call your Congress person and tell them: HR 669 needs better wording to protect the owners of non-dangerous exotic pets and to protect animal rescue and animal adoption rights. If the same threat existed for owners of Fluffy and Fido, you would have public uproar!
It's just a matter of ignorance on the part of uniformed people.
I have 2 Degus (native to Chile) and a hamster, and Angelfish, fruit loop tetra, Zebra Danio and 2 tiger barbs. I also have a cat named Oliver. I love all my pets dearly, but i have one thing to say.
Think about all of the Tigers, Lions and exotic pets that get miss-treated in the Circus, private breeding facilities, private petting zoos and much more situations like this are happening. It's a bit selfish to say oh this is bad i cant keep fish when other animals are suffering in cages.
It's things like this that have changed my interest from animal rights to animal welfare. Animal rights seems a bit too extreme in a lot of cases. Sometimes I'm not so sure it's a good idea to own exotic pets, but if they're not extremely dangerous, don't need more room than can be provided by most people, and they're not extremely upset or mistreated, I don't really have a problem with it.
i mean this would ban all nonnative reptiles birds rodents even fish when the only area majorly affected by non-native species that weren't put there in hopes to kill another non-native species is the everglades so why wouldn't florida pass a bill at the state level rather than costing the us millions of jobs billions of dollars and lots of sadness when people can't own the animals they love
people shouldn't have any pets really, 95% of people don't take good care of them anyway and really seam to have them to get attention or fill an emotional void or something, which isn't nice for the animal. Money spent on pets could be much better spent somewhere else.
The animal rights activists obviously have no idea what is good for the animals. Animals were designed for our enjoyment. To have ANY specie as a companion/pet in our stewardship is completely within our God-given rights. Human rights above "animal rights". That should be obvious.
I take my hat off to anyone who doesnt support this idea. Keeping snakes as pets in my eyes helps keep numbers up and supports conservation work.
The only thing that makes me angry is when people loose committent for them and just release them into the wild. Totally alien to the snake. It is people like that who giving us all a bad name for having snakes and other reptiles as pets.
This bill would hurt the economy so bad! i love my sugar glider and iguana ! this would be devastating to all exotic pet owners...we need to do all we can to stop this bill
The exotic problem has been blown way out of proportion by groups like HSUS ,PETA and others who have been trying for years to ban pet ownership. Even exotic owners have fallen for the hype .
This bill is crazy...but i do see one good point it would stop irresponsible ppl from buying pets that they cant care for in a few years time but just because thoses assholes cant take care of there pets doesnt mean we all should be affect this country is turning socilist and its fucking bullshit what i think would be a resanable alternative is having a licence for any snake that grows longer then 6 feet...and any one caught releasing there snake would be fined big time thats just my opinion tho

I can would bet my house I own more animals then anyone else posting on this video and I think it should be passed. Keeping living animals should not be a hobby almost all my animals are rescues dumped and adused by people who saw them as a hobby and didnt deserve to own another living thing.
What about the people who care for their animals? What about the thousands of people that would lose their jobs? This bill will do more harm than good...
I breed reptiles part time, and if this bill is passed, it would probably end my hobby. The reptiles I keep are exotic tortoises and North American box turtles. Only three of my 2 dozen animals are native to the US.
Obama will look at this, laugh, then veto it. Then congress won't even bother overriding it. And if it somehow gets through, I bet the judges will somehow declare it unconstitutional.

Lol you give Obama ESP congress to much credit and the constitution doesnt specify about owning exotic pets or pets at all. No different than certain dogs already banned in some cities.
Dude, this would crash the economy worse than the great depression. Do you know how many people have jobs working with these animals? Do you know how many people own them? It's not getting passed.
But for you to think Obama or Dem Congress is to smart to pass this is insane NEITHER party is smart and either can pass this. This may not pass as is but it might be rewritten which would still suck. You give the Dems way to much credit. People like Pelosi are owned by CA animal groups like PETA. I signed the pettetion and sent emails to politicians hope all did the same
many of you miss the point of it...so stop invasives that are destroying areas like the everglades. from idiots who let pets go when they too big, mean, etc.
So because some assholes have absolutely no clue how to care for their
animals, I do not have the right to keep, sell, or trade animals not native to the United States. Now I understand. Just leave it to some stupid idiot ruin other
They can't fucking do that. I love my snakes to death. It's a source of income to thousands and a hobby to millions. This'll just be another huge blow to the economy. I'm up here in Canada, to clarify the proposed bill is to be in use in the US. Who's to say it won't lead up to Canada, it wouldn't be the first time. The bill will have to be passed through the federal government, but I doubt Obama is much of a reptile enthusiast:(, but hopefully he won't pass it-GOD BLESS
ferrets actually are not rodents they are in the same family as badgers weasels etc but you are right all exotics are in danger here. And don't think tehy will stop at exotics either bans will slwoly start to creep to domestic animals too, just take a look at what BSL (breed specific leislation) is doing. Very sad.
In England and France there are pathetic groups who run about sqeaking about f all as well. Causing miseries for issues they simply have nothing better to do with.

Are they really pets, or just decoration? I think of a pet as a companion that expresses its personality and recipricates the emotions you show toward them.
All the animals shown are my pets. You've obviously never had the oppertunity to get to know a snake. They are indeed companions that express their personalities and reciprocates emotions shown toward them. All of my snakes are different, and all of them are wonderful, life-enriching friends.
@MrKevMan They're actually the best of both worlds. Not as much cleaning as a dog, they don't roam all over the house, and with a little landscaping, you can make a knockout enclosure. Dogs scratch their heinies, drool everywhere, shed on your carpet, and bite.
Their are always those misguided fools who have the ear of those in power. This must not happen for many reasons, please everyone support Jenn in this cause, its just so important to stop this before it go's any further.
