Heard a lotta people RAGING about how bad this game is :)

I mean yeah...texture pop-ins? Seriously? That's one of the worst immediate offenders for fast paced games like this, which is sad since for the most part, the graphics look pretty darn good.

Hmm i tried Borderlands, which got too repetitive for me, and Hellgate London...agh I don't even wanna think about that one. >_>;;

LOl at the bitching people, this game is amazing, I was too busy admiring the world and having so much fun to start pixel hunting while my eyes are 2 cm from my screen. Please...the graphics are great and the gameplay is amazing, its' one of the most fun games I've played this year.

As for the driving, I usually hate locked cameras, but once I got used to the driving I was doing it really well, I mean really fucking well. It actually gets to be really intuitive if you practice a bit.

You should of said more about that its a console freaken port, I rather them not make a PC version if its just going to be a freaken port at this point our best bet is to wait until consoles more or less turn into PCs built for gaming only or something to that effect, like every game I was looking forward to buying is a freaken port and for that reason alone, I will not be buying them, oh and Skyrim, yeah its going to be a console port with console graphics on the pc....

I honestly didnt enjoy Borderlands. Seemed repetitive, didnt like the skins for weapons, and just didnt seem unique at all.... so this isnt for me at all. And my computer wouldnt like to 20GB burden on its back.

Why are you saying shit about bethesda. Know your facts! Bethesda had nothing to do with the creation of this game, it was all id software. Bethesda published the game. Plus this game is pretty fucking awesome for xbox and ps3. I have a pc and dont get me wrong its fun, but some games are better on consoles.

the texture popping was admitely bad but a lot less for the PS3 version for some reason rather than the PC

I thought it did both driving and shooting well then again I havn't played borderlands so I can't say anything

Dude just found your video's awesome for a pc gamer. I got this the other day (torrented of course), I hear you about the pop-in BUT within 2 days they had a patch (1gb) No more pop in and a range of graphic options.. .Looks wise possibly the most beautiful game i've played after the patch. Story is average, Car driving is fkn weak but the actual pace and levels of the game are pretty darn good and the world itself is still FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

@zR750gUY ey, same here, it's suck ass that not only the texture pop in, the audio of the game got laggy, the situation got worst during pre-render cutscenes and the opening logo animation. I was not sure it's the console fault or the game's fault, but since PC has the worse problem I am kinda pissed too. Dude, just try to enjoy the game itself without the graphical enjoyment, because the game isn't that bad by its core.

What sucks for the developers is that they started this game over 5 years ago, but for some reason they just never got around to finishing it. Now that it is done, the style is no longer unique and the graphics are outdated.

I wish everyone would please stop comparing this game to Fallout. Other than the back-story that Rage copy-pasted from Fallout, they have absolutely nothing in common.

Your review is the first one I've seen that does not look like it came right from the ID marketing dept.

I had all the issues you describe and there are a lot more serious issues with the PC version that you did not mention. Bottom line is the PC version is a complete disaster.

Amazing review! I so agree with the texture issue. Unacceptable!! Especially considering what is currently out there (Unreal Engine, Metro 2033, etc.) Very obvious that this game was built with the console in mind and it is a slap in the face that there are no advanced video options. I had high hopes for the new id game...really high hopes but obviously they went the easy (lazy) way and put all their effort into the console version.

The texture problems in this video are nothing compared to the ones I'm having :/ square bits and pieces of different kinds of textures are broken; enemies might have a piece of wall texture covering half of their head for example.. and those bits and pieces flash, change places.. I played for a while and my eyes started to hurt..

Rage uses the technology "MegaTexture" which is just simply 1 big texture to load every small texture from...a horrible, horrible technology

First when I heard of Rage I thought it was going to be a Crysis replacement for people saying "will my pc run." but I saw the system requirements and realized that it was a horrible console port. why would they even bring it to the pc with NO graphic settings.. just stupid.. Here's another made up statistic, 90% of people that game on PC know about and want to be able to change the graphics, the other 10% are people who play facebook games. Keep the no graphic options on the consoles. lotro ;-D

i think those the texture popping up is to reduce the loading time in big area of viewing field, like the cannon area for low end machine or it was just bad console port.

The problem with most if nearly all multiplatform games is that the game/s are designed around Console limits. This also does not allow PC to stretch it legs Im getting tired of this console generation holding back Pc gaming on the multiplaftorm front. A game that is opposite to this game is BF 3 which the Pc version vs console version is a night a day difference.

@captaincough HAHA, i didn't know that at all. Funny i missed, its almost as bad as having to go into the menu in age of empires 3 and enabling camera turning, then having to hold a special combination of buttons to rotate. I didn't think to press the middle mouse button.
