Just wanted to say thank you from these Lets Play videos. They are helpful and I got it awhile ago with Alice: Madness Returns for the Xbox. Anyway. You're great! Ill still be watching. :)
@ShadowWolfRising He is indeed - you can call on him by pressing C (a rather fitting hotkey - "Press C for Cheshire Cat!") but it generally is not too necessary.
Funny that., I always envisioned this as not meant to be THE Alice, you know, given her black hair and the fact that she owns the Alice in Wonderland books . . . kind of breaking the fourth wall, isn't it? Good LP, I simply imagined her as a fan of Alice, whose madness was shaped by the fiction because she read it when the trauma occurred.
@JBarracudaL That's a really good point - there are notable 'problems' with her being the Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, such as the hair colour.
The books do break the fourth wall, however the other real world people (Mentioned in the manual of the game) seemingly possess no knowledge of the books or the series - which they probably would.
I wonder if we will ever learn the true story behind the game, in Alice 2.
@zazaodh Yeah, I'm curious if it'll be addressed in Madness Returns, which I simply cannot wait for. It's shaping up to be this generation's 'Psychonauts' from the looks of it, but maybe I'm a zealous optimist.
@JBarracudaL I can't wait for it either! In saying that, I really really want to get this LP done before it is released... Despite my frequent quips about the bugs and issues with this game, it's still one of my favourite games :)
@zazaodh I found this on Reddit's AMA by American McGee and thought you might find it interesting;
"The first was mainly inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The second has drawn a lot of inspiration from Through the Looking Glass. But it's important to remember that these new adventures are meant to take place later in Alice's life (and obviously along a new/invented line of reality)."
@ShadowWolfRising Oh god, Splatterhouse. I remember playing that in a dingy old arcade back in probably around 1995! Not heard of Digital Devil Saga 1 though, any good?
a JRPG with a rather brutal storyline, actually its 2 games, which was planned from the start, although they are more like 2 halves of the same game then a game and a sequel, as the sequel picks up immediately after the first with the same characters, funniest part about the game is, although the protagonist is named, hes still mute
its a game of the shin Megami Tensei series, which is among the best JRPG series of all time.
@ShadowWolfRising Sounds interesting, been a while since I played PS2 games as unfortunately my PS2 was 'stolen'. Thanks for the memories of Splatterhouse though ;) Enjoy the Let's Play!
if you ever get the chance to play Digital Devil Saga, i reccomend picking it up, has one of the most interesting plots i've seen in a JRPG, i didn't see many cliches.
as for Splatterhouse, have you played the new one? it's rather fun, and it contains all 3 of the originals on the disc (you gotta play through single player to unlock them, but not all the way through) (includes the uncensored version of 1)

@Samswed
i imagine it as a mixture of the world from Digital Devil Saga 1, this, and Splatterhouse.
