@taniabaxterox3 Seriously, your going to call my 9 yo who was using my account a LIAR...But for your information Ireland and Heaven ARE IN this video...As well as Piper in fact an example is at 3:54 My sister is holding Ireland and thats Heaven behind them....Dont toss around the "LIAR" title unless you can back it up.....
Look up the movie Sicko and watch the documentary...
Do you realize Hilary Clinton started the fight for Socialized Healthcare before her husband was in office? Did you realize that our country hid how great it was and poisoned your mind to not like it, but wait its so bad... NOOOoo... do you know how many things are socialized? Military, mailmen, school system....
People are ignorant do you research before you hate something...
Ah, States40, I was wondering where the Whitfield-Tards were, and VWA LA, there you are! Thank Goodness You Showed up, FINALLY! Perhaps we will remove this video as soon as you learn how to spell "starred" or perhaps when you learn not to end your sentences in prepositions? Either way, if it annoys you, then it is doing something right. I guess the horrible truth about healthcare hurts.
I'm not sure who Graviton productions is; but I'm not sure what you're saying yesterday that ends "have a pleasant day."
Just get old and not have income and not be old enough for Medicaid. We are NOT eligible for any "welfare help" except food stamps and a very small amount of help for utilities.
@rev: Where were you yesterday, man? The haters totally ambushed me, lol! Coulda used your real life experience to counter their "research" and rhetoric. As if facts mattered to them. Hmph!
The United States ranks 37th in quality of health care (just ahead of Slovenia) because 100,000 Americans die every year of treatable diseases due to lack of health care. We rank 31st in life expectancy, again just ahead of Slovenia and Costa Rica. We spend 16.9% of our GDP, about $6000 more per person than other industrialized nations who cover all of their citizens. Our system is broken, and we need to fix it.
Just some thoughts. The United States ranks 37th in quality of health care (just ahead of Slovenia) because we have 100,000 Americans die every year due to lack of health care, and these are treatable illnesses, not due to catastophic accidents. Our life expectancy ranks about 31st. We spend five to six thousand dollars more per person more in tax dollars for our countries health care. 16.9% of our GDP in comparison to about 10% of the GDP for other countries who offer universal health care.
I have to post this again for those who claim that there are government programs to cover everyone: In Ky. to qualify for medicaid, if you are not pregnant, you can ONLY have a monthly income of $383 for a family of FOUR! Honestly! Is that even realistic? That means anyone with a family of four earning more than $383 does NOT qualify. That leave a lot of people out! That may be three weeks pay at McDonald's but do they offer insurance to their employees? No. So where does that leave them?
Another fine example of the absues in the welfare system recently came to light in NY--$200 per child meant to go towards SCHOOL SUPPLIES...yet Walmart and several other retailers called the news stations to report that electronics and jewelry were flying off the shelves.
As a member of the working, tax-paying "poor" (even though I don't feel poor) this is where I'm coming from.
They don't do that in my county in Ky. Here churches have drives (I went to one a few years ago) that provide supplies. Now I am in that middle class "doughnut hole". I don't qualify for aid but really don't earn enough to comfortably pay full price for school lunches for two kids for example. Back to school shopping HURT this year! I know I could take advantage of some of the drives etc. but I believe I should leave those resources for those who really have no other option.
(cont'd) I would be ASHAMED to be living such a lifestyle while accepting food stamps--these are two young, able-bodied people. Not only were they proud, but the other 20-somethings at the barbecue high-fived them, as though it were some sort of victory.
Sounds suspect. You were at the bbq, so you must know them. But I'm thinking that there are probably thousands of "able bodied people" out of a job right now and you don't quit living just because you receive aid.
I'm sorry--that's a total misappropriation of funds...of MY MONEY. That's the kind of crap that burns me up. Not to mention the fact that after dinner was over, they broke out the booze and we all watched a movie on their flat-screen TV via a brand new laptop.
I can assure you they didn't buy the booze with stamps, lol! As for the rest, do you know when they bought those things? I guess you can game the system but the application process is rather thorough, it would be tough. Are you saying that because they get aid they don't deserve to keep and enjoy the things they have? I had my car and TV and computer while I was on and off aid.
I'm happy for you, MM, that you now have a good job and were able to get back on your feet. Ideally, that's how the welfare system should be used. It is NOT used that way, however. The other night, I went to a party. We had steak, a table loaded with fruit and vegetables, and individual pints of ice cream (the expensive stuff). As I was eating my steak and enjoying the evening, the people throwing the barbecue proudly announced that they had funded their barbecue with FOOD STAMPS.
Exactly! Keep in mind that programs vary from state to state but KTAP replaced the AFDC. Welfare to work is the goal. The food stamp income scale is weird. If you're dirt poor you get far more than you need, cross that line to a living wage and it's barely worth your time to apply, though I did! Any help is good help! Blame the system, not the recipients. Yes they could spend frugally and let the balance roll over but I've known many who receive stamps who splurge. They consider it sharing.
Let me elaborate on the "sharing" comment. When my ex sis in law would get her $500 a mo. or so in stamps she would have bbq's just to spread it around a bit. She would go shopping for others who just missed hitting the "jackpot". Like I said, the amounts are out of whack but they are what they are. Also keep in mind that you can't pay the rent with food stamps. They are not manna from heaven either. For some, stamps are the only "wealth" they have so they spurge. No excuse but that's how it is.
"Colbert the character, a right-wing blowhard on a one-man mission to reeducate the ignorant, is convincing enough that a recent Ohio State University study found that a majority of conservatives polled believed Colbert the man was one of them."
Yeah. I agreed with you about the colbert thing. But I said that a lot of uneducated liberals take him seriously too. As usual, you found a one-sided survey and tried to pass it off as fair evidence to your claims. GOOD JOB!
"anybody who actually wants to know what we and/or Professor Holdren believe and recommend about these matters would presumably read some of the dozens of publications that we and he separately have produced in more recent times, rather than going back a third of a century to find some formulations in an encyclopedic textbook where description can be misrepresented as endorsement."
Is he screaming his 1977 opinions (that he no longer holds) on TV or radio?
HA! "that he no longer holds" Really? O.k. then tell me. Why the sudden change of heart? Did Obama tell him to recant part of his life's work for political reasons? Or did he just wake up one morning and say, "Hmmm....I no longer hold these opinions". MAN you are gullible, music. Where are you getting your info, by the way? And I'm sorry, but if you're really looking for an example of a "popular" radical lib broadcaster, that would be hard since liberal radio and T.V. FAILS.
Where are you getting your info.? I think the answer to that would be far more interesting. And when did the criteria change to "popular" broadcasters? The standard has been set as those who "promote violence". I see excuses, misdirection, and a refusal to stay on topic from you but no realistic comparison as yet. This constant dissemination on your part shows a lack of intellectual honesty and a sense of desperation that is rather disgusting. Almost pitiable. You are but a scared reactionary.
That's precisely what I expect from those who fare from the other side of the isle - personal attacks on appearance. Thanks Fredfrogstone for showing your immaturity by attacking our appearance-aren't you the clever one? The issue remains the same; Healthcare in the U.S. is for the rich and greedy; which are you?
I could go on for awhile longer Mr. WE never promote violence!
Hal Turner again: "It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally. These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die," and "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this, I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down, too."
"Musically", It's common knowledge that liberals find it difficult to recognize sarcasm. Rush and Beck often use sarcasm in hopes of people like you taking it out of context. It makes it very easy for conservative talk show hosts to expose you as the morons that you are.
1.) It's republicans who think Colbert is serious. Your "common knowledge" is bull. 2.) Abusers and manipulators use the tactic Rush and Beck employ. Hurl the threat or insult then claim, "I was just kidding". Your rebuttal is disingenuous and disgusting as it's clear in making excuses for, you approve of these tactics. Shame on you. 3) You've been whining about name calling? Check yourself.
Rush and Beck shouldn't HAVE to say they were just kidding. My point is ANYONE with half a brain can recognize sarcasm when they hear it. And who thinks Colbert is serious? Gullible people. Be they democrats or republicans, because he gets complaints from both sides. And the only name calling I have done has been justified by your belligerent responses. But none of this matters, does it? We've already side-tracked enough from the original issue and you libs will NEVER admit defeat.
we won the election, your the ones who can't get over it because a black man beat old Johnny ..PS i served in the navy the same time McCain did still wouldn't vote for him
You must be highly intelligent, Kilowat. I dissapprove with a proposed policy by Obama. Therefore, I am a racist nazi. OOPS! I better be careful when I joke about stuff like that. I almost forgot, you libs lack the rationality to recognize sarcasm. Will somebody PLEASE stop playing the race card?! PLEEEEEASE!!! It makes you and ONLY you appear very ignorant.
And from Hal Turner, Rightwing internet radio host loon:
"Let me be the first to say this plainly: These Judges deserve to be killed. Their blood will replenish the tree of liberty. A small price to pay to assure freedom for millions."
How sad for you, musically. Your main resource for a notion that republicans promote violence is a white supremacist, anit-semitic radical who is currently in jail where he belongs. When I said we don't promote violence, do you REALLY believe I was including Hal Turner? sigh. There are radicals on both sides. But I don't base my opinions of the democratic party on past radical members like, oh....say....John Wilkes Booth. That would be silly, wouldn't it?
"a notion that republicans promote violence" LOL all we have to do is watch the news all the ones at the town hall meeting with the Nazi signs and picture of Obama with a mustache ,are just live in a RED STATE like Ky
You said emphatically: WE do not promote violence. Now you excuse away some of your ilk and disown others? Perhaps you shouldn't speak in absolutes if you're just going to go back and cherry pick later. WE includes all the Right. Sry.
Couldn't you find a Leftie equivalent for Rush in THIS century? Interesting. You chose a silly example at that. In todays world J.W.B. would be a Repub. and Lincoln would be a Dem. The hypocrisy of todays repubs. claiming Lincoln as one of their own is astounding!
LOL!!!! Oh come on music. Nobody has more blood on there hands then the democrats. And you want a current example of a radical democrat? O.k. How about Obama's current science czar, John Holdren, who believes in forced sterilization, manditory abortions, and the phazing out of the "undesirables" through these methods. Don't believe me? Read "Ecoscience", a book Holdren co-authored in 1977. I could name PLENTY more radical libs in and out of the current admin. but I won't waste my time.
So, Speaker Pelosi, I just wanted to -- you gonna drink your wine? Are you blind? Do those eyes not work? There you -- I want you to drink it now. Drink it. Drink it. Drink it.
By the way, I put poison in your -- no, I -- I look forward to all the policy discussions that we're supposed to have -- you know, on health care, energy reform, and the economy.
Limbaugh: Riots in Denver at the Democrat convention would see to it we dont elect Democrats - and thats the best damn thing could happen for this country as far as anything I can think."
"Dr. Anderson used data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on per capita health care spending, utilization rates, health status, demographic factors and other topics. He compared the recent performance of the U.S. health care system to other countries, looking specifically at cost, access and outcomes."
I got sources too! Yay for teh Google! And did I mention that 96.9 sucks?
"96.9 sucks" Look. If you really want anyone to have respect for your political party, you should just stop commenting. Comments like "96.9 sucks" only prove my point that libs resort to attacking the personal lives of people who don't agree with them. Anyone reading these comments should REALLY think about who is ACTUALLY spewing hate. On a side note, you can say we suck all you want, but a TON of people will disagree with you, except for your friends on youtube, of course. Ratings prove it.
"(The U.S.) spends more resources than any other industrialized nation by a wide margin," said study author Gerard Anderson, PhD, professor of health policy and management at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Yet, between 1990 and 1995 the United States fell to position 23 out of the 29 leading industrialized nations in terms of infant mortality. This country was ranked twentieth out of 29 in 1995 in terms of life expectancy for women and twenty-first in terms of life expectancy for men.
I NEVER said America doesn't spend a lot more than other countries on health care. It's one of the reasons why America is one of the most, if not the most state of the art country in the world when it comes to health care. And again, do some REAL research for a change and look up how much Obama's proposed health care plan will cost. lol. "free". Your ignorance is painstakingly amusing.
Once again: content-healthaffairs-org: Peruse some data rather than visceral talking points.
"U.S. cost containment efforts. Two aspects of spending and use of hospital services in the United States warrant special attention. First, numbers of hospital days per capita, lengths- of-stay , and admission rates were well below the OECD median, suggesting that greater use of hospital services is not primarily responsible for the higher level of hospital spending."
"greater use of hospital services is not primarily responsible for the higher level of hospital spending" Once again, thank you for supporting my point. This is because "higher hospital spending" is used to purchase more expensive, state of the art research and technology which contributes to a higher quality of health care in America than most, if not all other nations. Reading comprehension>cutting and pasting.
So since hospitals are cutting care to protect their bottom line, their MUCH higher level of spending, (which far surpasses at least 23 other countries), those exorbitant costs are strictly because of research and technology? You are aware that pharma tells the same lie right? What you offer is rhetoric that is not borne out by facts. Again. You also choose to repeatedly ignore the fact that America does not have the best health outcomes nor the highest quality of care. Read the study.
Source for previous info: content-healthaffairs-org.
As an aside, 96.9 sucks. It is banned in my car. The "music" they peddle to our teens is vapid, repetitive, inane, low quality, thinly veiled porn that offers no value to society whatsoever.
Oh Darn it Gravy, does this mean you won't be at the screening at the MAC this evening? What ever will I do if everyone in attendance either agrees that this was a great product or is too timid to say anything negative to my face? Oh, wait, I know what I'll do, I'll have a good time in your absence.
Oh Gravy, you silly goose, I wouldn't say that I was "attacking" you about your place of employment. I was merely pointing out that it is people like you who control the MEDIA in WKY - it's no wonder why residents are so misinformed about political issues - because they have to listen to blowhards like you spewing lies. It is astounding that you will admit you are a radio personality on a public forum like YT yet you have no problem stating you are so closed minded. Unreal.
Heather. You have really been the highlight of my, and other's afternoon. You claimed that Bristol's alleged monopoly on radio in the area is the only reason for our success. That sounds like an attack to me. We control the media in the area? if you're referring to the various conservative talk shows we broadcast, it's because liberal radio does TERRIBLE in the ratings. Need I say, "Air America"? People want to hear facts on the radio. Not propaganda, and that shows in the books.
Oh, touche, you have been equally as entertaining for me! Perhaps the reason progressive radio doesn't do as well in the ratings is because HATE SELLS and that is primarily what your shows spew - hate and fear. I'm sure you're proud, as evidenced by your umpteen posts, that your party is that of fear, hate and intolerance. Now you can add "Heartless" to your list of attributes - congrats!
Hate sells? O.k. This is my last comment on this issue.....probably. If I hear one more liberal cliche' from you I think I'm gonna die laughing. These show's do NOT spew hate, nor do republicans. We encourage freedom and liberty. We NEVER promote violence. It's you libs that HATE more then anyone I could ever fathom. Just look at the drive-by. If you're not with them, they will do anything to destroy you. O.k., Heather. I'm done. Please feel free to continue with your terrible lib cliche's.
And when did I state I was close minded? Oh yeah, I didn't. It doesn't make you look very credible to say I stated something when I never did. But, seeing as how you have yet to refute any of my facts, present any of your own, or post hardly anything to me without an immature insult, you couldn't appear credible if you were holding a sign that read "The sky is blue". I am the most open-minded person you'll ever meet. You, however, will cling to your bandwagon no matter the evidence against it.
Grav- Do you get upset when you miss part of the syndicated Rush L. Feed on your sister station while you are on the air? Bristol Broadcasting does own most of the radio around these parts, so it' not a big deal to say you are #2-that's like saying 'I was the smartest one in the third grade after my fifth year there!" But I welcome your comments, you are increasing the search-ability of this video with each dumb remark. THANKS!
lol! You're calling me "dumb" now. This is great! Look, Heather. Why don't you just call me "doodie head" and get it over with. And you're right! Bristol broadcasts to a much wider area than most radio stations around here. Electric has a 100,000 watt radius to concentrate on. Yet a certain other top 40 radio station really only has one major area to focus on. Paducah. Guess who dominates tremendously over that station in Paducah? Yup. Electric 96.9. So, thanks for supporting my point.
Grav---are you on here promoting the radio station you work at or what??? You keep bringing it up over and over....everyone gets it! YOU WORK AT 96.9, we all see that.
Hmm....jenjo. Take a look a few comments down and you will see that it was Heather that brought up my place of employment. I'm perfectly happy with leaving personal information like that out of this issue, but if it is attacked, I will defend it.
MusicallyMotivated; Well thought out post, you obviously are very intelligent! ;). As for Brandon/AKA Mitch Myers (Graviton) it must be rough to work for 96.9 Radio yet the expanse of your creativity are your mindless posts on YouTube and sad, sad videos. Perhaps you are just jealous that you don't have any work creative enough to provoke discussion and discourse?
NOTE: This is Paducah, WE NEVER EXPECTED TO WIN THE CONTEST! Get a clue, I may be a liberal but I'm not naive!
Heather. You are VERY naive. The one and ONLY thing you base my supposed "ignorance" on is the fact that I disagree with your ridiculous notions on the current health care system. As far as you taking a shot at my radio career, you would be interested to know that The Electric Moring Show is ranked number 2 overall and number 1 in the female 18-35 demo across the entire listening area. Hmm. Must be doing something right. And my videos are MEANT to be funny and stupid. They make people laugh.
"As far as you taking a shot @ my radio career, u would be interested to know that The Electric Moring Show is ranked number 2 overall and # 1 in the female 18-35 demo across the entire listening area. " U should be aware that I, myself, also work @ a radio station and we have a top rated Morning Show that covers the whole Southern IL listening area---shame on u Graviton for spending all your time arguing instead of working...and u are right, your work and posts on here r FUNNY AND STUPID.
Well, jenjo. I've been off the air for almost five hours now. So my work day is pretty much done. I am, however, getting plenty of work done while periodically responding to these bellegerent posts. It's called multi-tasking and I happen to be very good at it. Oh, and what morning show are you on? Thanks for the compliments on my videos, by the way. Funny and stupid is exactly what I was going for.
And you call my posts mindless? How's this for mindless. According to Gallup's annual health care survey, 83% of Americans are pleased with the current quality of health care they recieve. Also, economists Robert L. Ohsfeldt and John E. Schneider wrote in their 2006 book "The Business of Health" that if accidents and homocides were factored out, America would rank #1 in the world for life expectancy. I'm stating facts and giving references, Heather. Where are yours? Who's posts are mindless?
Took me about 5 seconds to find this. The data isn't current so you know the #'s are far worse now:
"At the same time, other researchers and countries have decided that a single aggregate indicator cannot possibly summarize the health status of a population and therefore have begun developing multiple indicators."
Anyone claiming such simple indicators as accidents and murders can greatly affect the #'s is obviously peddling anti-reform propaganda. Science>Rightwing propaganda.
Just the notion that one could cite a book with the words "business" and "health" in the title as a credible piece of work, with any real value to the healthcare debate, is laughable.
Health care IS a business you numbskull! Richard E. Ralston nailed it when he wrote, "Ultimately all health care is paid for by business activity. Business provides the wages, the return on investment, the insurance, the taxes that pay directly for health care, and the insurance and taxes that fund government programs. When the government manages to provide services at all, it can give you nothing that it does not take from you or others, or from your employer and other employers."
Our health should not be treated as a commodity. The whole problem is that it IS treated as a business. Medicaid, Medicare are non profit and they do quite well delivering services! I'm sure you've enjoyed your tax dollars paying for my kids to see the doc for years, and for every time I was pregnant, including stays at Kosair and Vanderbilt. Premium care was provided with the flash of a card. You can at least be assured your tax dollars went to support a quality, efficient, &moral system.
Soooooo...I guess.....You switched sides??? Because That's exactly the point I've been making. We already have free health care that we already pay taxes on. Well, those of us with jobs pay the taxes, anyway. I'm glad you finally admit that America already has a quality, efficient free health care system. But the moment government FORCES you to use THEIR health care plan, that is the moment when liberty dies.
Just more proof that you are not current with the facts of this debate. The ONLY time I was covered is when I was pregnant and my my kids are covered in SPITE of Bushs veto. Medicaid does not cover adults in Ky. unless you qualify for KTAP. I am now middle class & uninsured along with millions of others. Your simplistic generalizations have no place in discussing such a complex issue. I am quite sure you've had no direct experience with the welfare system as your statements prove. Facts>Rhetoric
KTAP and Medicaid are two completely different things. KTAP takes place of child support. It is a check of up to $225.00 a month when there is an absent parent. Also you can be covered on medicaid if you would have went back to the DCBS office and continued your coverage. And Medicaid is available to all children. And as far as saying that people are rejected because lack of pay is a bunch of bull. The hospitals offer programs to help with families that cannot pay. You need to read your facts.
As far as you saying that Medicaid doesnt cover adults in KY , I dont know where you get your information from but that is not true. I know several people that get it and some that do not even have children so it would not even have anything to do with KTAP. And i also just looked on the DCBS website and nowhere on there does it say you must qualify for one to get the other.
As for you attitude of, let the poor go to the hospital, I was under the impression that that was one of the hidden taxes passed on to everyone else and thus a huge part of the problem. It's not some glorious panacea for the poor! And I'm seeing that you only have second hand knowledge of the welfare system. If Medicaid is so readily available, why did I go to the free clinic and wait for 4 hours to be seen? Because I worked 40 hrs. a wk. and made just a tad too much to qualify for the card!
And do you know what the bill was for wearing a heart monitor for 24 hrs. was? $260.00! That four hour wait was well worth it considering I didn't pay, but I never went back either. There are qualifications to be met at the free clinic that I wont bother with here. Each case is different and anyone painting this issue with a broad brush is being deliberately obtuse. I have taken advantage of every scrap of govt. aid available. We survived because of the system for 15 years so I know first hand.
Ok and there is another point that you tried to make that backfired on you. There are free clinics available to people and they will send you to specialists if needed. And what does the poor have to do with going to the hospital? if you are that sick and need treatment then thats where you will go. You are just looking for excuses now to try and cover what you thought were facts. good try though.
I repeat. When people use the hospital for basic treatment, the costs fall to everyone else if they can't pay. That's a problem. It's crazy that people can't get preventative treatment that keeps them out of the hospitals. That you would advocate going to the hospital at all is rather weird. We have one free clinic in our town. You cannot seek treatment there if you work under 40 hrs. a week. Seems you are the one looking for excuses.
I never said you have to qualify for one to get the other. You went waaay out with that one! BTW, it may as well be true that medicaid doesn't cover adults. The requirements are disgusting: A family of four can only have an income of $383 to qualify! When you are PREGNANT as I SAID, the limit increases to 185% of federal poverty levels. I don't see how you failed to find this while you were doing your "research". It took me 5 mins. I'm going to post these #'s far and wide! We are NOT covered!
The only way I ever received coverage while not pregnant and dirt poor was through KTAP. Medicaid will not cover people who earn a living wage. A few dollars over the line, though I was raising 3 kids alone, and poof! No medicaid. I asked. I lived it so don't tell me to check anything. The income scale and rules for KCHIP do include a high number and that program overlaps traditional medicaid nicely. As it should, but Medicaid is NOT available to all children just as free school lunch is not.
Musically, It's YOU, lady, who is spewing misinformation. You "asked" if you were covered? Wow! That took a lot of effort on your part! Perhaps you DO qualify for medicaid but are just too lazy to make calls and fill out forms to get it. MILLIONS of Americans are uninsured for that reason alone. ZERO initiative to do ANYTHING! You want everything handed to you while you sit on the couch and watch Jerry Springer. COUNTLESS programs exist that offer free healthcare!
How DARE YOU! I asked my CASE WORKER while RE certifying for aid IN HER OFFICE! You do not "call" either. You take a # and wait your turn, you bring every kind of proof of income, bank statements, residency, SS#, forms signed by landlord and employer. Oh WE crawl and humiliate ourselves for any scrap of help for our kids! I have ALWAYS worked and I am a mail carrier now! I doubt you could even pass the test! I assure you, you have NEVER AND WILL NEVER work as hard as I have to get where I am!
there you go trying to make yourself look better than others. If it so humilitaing to you then why do you do it. I would never say it was humiliating to help my child. If you are a mail carrier, then you should have good insurance or is it too much for you to pay out of your check? Im surprised that you passed the test. It must not be too hard being someone like you passed it. And if you have gotten so far in life, what do you keep complaining about. you are making yourself look like a fool
What I am trying to convey is that I see the welfare issue from both sides. I no longer qualify for any aid and that is fine. I pay taxes to fund these programs for others now and I do not begrudge them that. More people should use the system we have though it falls far short of covering everyone in need. Since you are so knowledgeable about all things, you should know that all mail carriers are hired in as RCA's. Look it up. I'm tired of explaining things to you.You don't want to understand.
@sunshine&gravy: Just wanted to say thanks for revealing what hateful and nasty people you are. Thanks also for taking the mail carrier bait, I kinda figured where you'd both try to take that one. Just goes to show that not everything is as black & white as your tiny minds want to believe. You do not know half as much as you think you do and worse, you're not interested in learning. Gravy, you may be happy to know that I've posted your hateful attack on welfare recipients on my FB page...cont...
Look, lady, don't get all bent out of shape when I point out your inconsistencies. "you have NEVER AND WILL NEVER work as hard as I have to get where I am!" Yeah? And where are you? As a mail carrier, your health insurance should be cheaper than mine! And yeah, associating your kids with something that you felt was humiliating is pretty low. Just like a lib. I'm glad at least "sunshine" sees through your B.S.
Twist it all you like. No one is "proud" to receive aid.
The point is that there are people out there who will subject themselves to any hardship to provide for their children. The process IS humiliating, some of the jobs I worked would be considered by most to be humiliating and beneath them, but I took pride in my work whatever I did. The drive to do what's needed to survive regardless of the humiliation is something I am most proud of and shows a determination most people couldn't fathom.
"No one is "proud" to receive aid.", "The process IS humiliating,", Yet you are all about universal healthcare. Do I REALLY need to point out the ignorance in that? "Twist it all you like.", Nobody twists anything as much as you do. You will say anything to maintain the illusion that you are right, but you're just not very good at doing that. You no longer deserve my time, so I'm done. Have a pleasant day.
...I thought it good to give everyone a first hand peek into the hateful, angry mind of a rightwinger. See, while you and a small minority find that attitude acceptable, the rational majority do not. You have been made the poster child, held up as a nasty example for all to see. I have rational republican friends that are appalled at the vile way you attacked someone who is actually a welfare success story! You seem to crave notoriety, you got it bud! Proud of yourself now? I hope not.
KTAP is a check (welfare) that you draw from the state.. NOT MEDICAL COVERAGE. it takes place of child support. it has nothing to do with medicaid. And yes medicaid is available for people who work. And every hospital around here has it posted that no person can be refused because of lack of pay. Have you called any of the hospitals and asked what programs are available for families that cannot pay? Oh yea the answer to that would be no or this sick video would not have been put on here.
Wrong: KTAP is NOT just a check. It is a package of aid with strict qualifications: The package includes a pittance of actual cash aid. Mine was 160.00 a month for a family of 4 with an income of 1000.00 per month. Medical coverage for the caregiver. Three cash bonuses for PROVEN continued full time employment over time. A small reimbursement to help maintain transportation, also with strict guidelines. This is paid to the garage etc. not to the recipient. And a lifetime cap of 5 years.
I am on the website of DCBS and KTAP is a check. The transportaion check is for you to volunteer 20hrs a week if you are not working or for you to use for gas to get to work. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MEDICAID. And if you draw KTAP there must be an absent parent.
i completely understand. I am right and you are wrong. Im just trying to show people that what you are saying is not true. You are making it out that there is almost nothing available or you have to be poor. I worked, got a medicaid and so did my children and made good money.
what is so humiliating about it? you are helping your child. And yea i would say i am glad that my children have it because i know if they need to go to the doctor or need a specialist for something, then they have medicaid that pays 100% for everything, they are getting the treatment they need and i dont have to worry about them being turned away for lack of pay. I dont know anyone who would say it humiliates them to have 100% medical for there children other than you lady. thats a poor excuse
I have thought about it and the only thing i can come up with on why you would think this is humiliating is because you think you are too good to receive any kind of help. You are afraid that someone might see you at the DCBS office and think oh she must not have much money and need the state to help her and her kids. that is so sad on your part. YOU ARE NOT ANY BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE.
you and the points you are "trying" to make are pointless. and i have read back over your comments and nowhere on it does it say you were a single parent. you are just now bringing that up.
Oh for christs sake! How else do most people end up on the rolls? My ex never paid support blah, blah, blah. It's typical and should be obvious! Just the mention of KTAP to anyone knowledgeable would make that apparent. People at the welfare office are all there for the same reason! Why would that be a factor? The welfare system has it's good points and bad. We need a program to fill the gap! I HELP people navigate the system, I encourage people to seek out the programs! I am not ashamed of it!
Check your facts. From the very comment that provoked you:
"A few dollars over the line, though I was raising 3 kids alone"
I said I was "covered" medically under KTAP. I used Medicaid to describe that coverage in error I suppose. I use the term generally to mean covered medically by the govt. It was a ridiculous thing to argue about. Apparently the KTAP program I was on in 2000 has changed (for the worse) according to your "research" All I know is what I know from actual experience.
The KCHIP procedure is fairly easy going compared to food stamps and KTAP. I just got my recert form today as a matter of fact and all I have to do is fill it out and mail it in. For the other programs you have have your employer and landlord fill out forms. It's not the end of the world, you get used to it, but it is embarrassing! KCHIP rocks! My kids still qualify, as do yours apparently. They can receive care with no hassles. That's all Obama wants for uninsured adults! That's the point!
And? I was on the program in 2000. The benefits AT THE TIME were a package contingent upon full time employment, or full time schooling. I said I was a single mom, thus the absent parent, hello? As a single parent of 3 working 40 hrs. KTAP was the program for me. I can describe the program in such detail because I WAS ON IT. Later on, still a single parent with 2 kids in the household with an income of $800 to $1200 a mo. I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR MEDICAID. PERIOD. This is ridiculous and pointless.
Very touching and illustrates the point beautifully. I wont say our system is "broken". That sounds like an excuse like,"oops, I just dropped the healthcare system and it broke!" Uh, no. This is about GREED,GREED,GREED. The almighty dollar is being valued above the lives of our countrymen. We pay more than other industrialized nations and receive lower quality of care, period, that's a fact. For those of you against reform for whatever reason, you are pawns, & puppets & you should be ashamed.
I guess this video was too popular too fast - either YouTube has frozen view counter or the number of people watching this video has crashed their system. The view counter has been stuck at 323 views for over 12 hours. Yay us - I guess!
It's refreshing to see that some real debate was sparked by this short film! To think that it started out as a simple 48 Hour Film Project - isn't amazing of what we are capable when we are passionate?
The only thing this video shows is the radicalism and ignorance of the far left. Well, terrible over-acting as well. WHAAAAA! Without universal health care, America will refuse my dieing child treatment while enjoying a tasty bagel! PREPOSTEROUS!!! Besides medicare and medicaid, there are about a million and one programs out there that would NEVER let a child go without treatment. This video is pure rubbish filled propaganda.
Also note, Ms. Ryan, from what I heard your team drew fantasy as your movie genre. I'm sure we all agree that the fantasy genre primarily consists of wizards, dragons, magic, stuff like that. It's nauseatingly obvious that you decided to do a PSA for universal health care no matter what genre you drew. "See! I said 'fantasy' in the movie!" I'm very confident you will lose the competition. I'm only hopeful that your inevitable loss is followed by a harmonious "BOOOOO!!!!"
Thanks--a touching informative video. I'm commenting from Canada where I've been visiting relatives--one recuperating from breast cancer, another from hip replacement (age 76--eager to get back on the golf course) another with pulmonary hypertension--carrying a lifesaving medi-pac. No premiums, no deductible, superb care--all covered by Canada's Medicare plan. Canadians stand with each other providing equitable and humane health care to all. When you need it, the system is there for you.
Good job on the movie guys! I'm not really a fan of using a film to push an agenda, but besides that it was great. The surprise ending was very well done.
Graviton, you said, (and I'll paraphrase) you managed to make it so you don't give a hoot about anyone else.
Our health care system is broken. You, in fact, would be helping the system somewhat if you were insured since you seem to be relatively healthy.
I have worked IN and AROUND the health care business all my life (hospital lab, hospital chapel, ER, clinics, and doctor's offices); and we pay more for less in the USA.
I suggest you pay someone the next time you drive somewhere to be fair.
Dude. You are a sad individual. Typical lib mumbo-jumbo..."You don't give a hoot about anyone else", "health care system is broken", "we pay more for less in the USA" TYPICAL! If we don't agree with you, we're evil and care about only ourselves. And our quality of care IS among the best in the world! The only reason rich people rarely go to France is for expirimental and dangerous procedures. If universal health care passes, I PROMISE you will see our quality of care plummet.
Funny how many countries have socialized medicine that works better than our own health care. To say socialized medicine is a bad thing is to speak ignorantly. Also, at the rate the insurance thieves are going, you may be one of those who die because of a lack of insurance; but then you will get to live in that "free" country where everyone is selfish apparently because they share the cost of roads, but not of health care.
Which do YOU think is more important since they are both socialized?
And if socialized medicine works so well for other countries, Why do they come here for treatment? Rush Limbaugh hit it on the nose when he suggested the government buy everyone who demands free healthcare a train ticket to Canada. That would be a much cheaper solution. But you might find the hospitals in Canada rather lonely, since a lot of Canadians run to America for quality healthcare.
I'll turn that question around. Why do some wealthy Americans go to France (as an example) for their health care? Why do Americans go to Canada for their health care?
You see it really does go both ways. It sounds like you have never really utilized the American system to me. We really are 37th. People in Canada, England, France, etc., live longer. Their infant mortality rate is lower, etc. Our system stinks. It is the most expensive, yes; but that doesn't make it better.
GravitonProductions OH Rush is you mentor!! takes Viagra on his caribbean vacation, then doctor shops for oxycoton what a role model LOL couldn't serve in the military because he had a boil on his sorry ass
Kilowat...Come on. Really? You disappoint me. But it's quite expected. That's what you libs do best, put words in other peoples mouths. I NEVER said Rush was my mentor. I simply illustrated one good point the guy made. You should really work on your reading comprehension skills.
Limbaugh, the head of the RepubliCON party! And Republicans in congress are afraid to refute that! Now his lies have people stirred up against improving health care for everyone (except those making several million, perhaps. They can pick and choose where they go from all over the world.)
Watch Fox News (rather opinions), listen to Rush's opinions, and Hannity, etc. In a true debate these guys couldn't beat a good high school senior who had studied health care for the debate.
"It isn't fair." It is NOT fair. The money grubbing insurance companies insure people, then do not pay for the health care those people paid for. It is an unfair system; but it mostly affects the poor who do not choose to be poor, or who lost their jobs and can't afford COBRA (at perhaps $1,500 per month) or who are UNINSURABLE because they got sick previously.
Add to that the truth that our quality of care is 37th in the world, not first as some said.
Our "quality of care" is not 37th. Our "healthcare system" has been ranked 37 out of 191 countries by the World Health Organization. Their standards are almost directly relative to government involvement in the healthcare system. In other words, we are rated on how much control our government has over healthcare, NOT by the actual quality of care. So by those standards, I wish we were more like 191.
I also should have said that we can't rank very high because about 50 million folk here have no care but the ER. That definitely has an effect on the outcome, don't you think?
Do you really believe those who cannot afford it should just die? What about those WITH insurance who spend (like I have) over $20,000 for health care WITH insurance in one year?
(cont'd): I gladly wear clothes (usually), drive, buy overpriced coffee, and patronize businesses both large and small. I work hard, and I don't have much--but I don't blame capitalism for it. Financial equality is (like health care) a non-guarantee. Not everyone can win a blue ribbon, but most can support themselves if they give it a try. I'm happy with what I have, and I don't despise rich people, especially since the wealthy are the ones paying me.
and what did we spend in Iraq 2 trillion and still spending..
do you think it right that CEO of insurance co. to be making $9 million in pay, while denying patience the health care they need, denying health care for patients with preexisting conditions..
I totally agree that a lot of money was wasted in Iraq, and the Obama admin continues to waste money in Iraq. But I want to know why success is demonized in America today. If you work hard, become successful and make a lot of money, you're evil. WHY?! come on! Wether you like it or not, working hard to build a business or career with great rewards is the major concept this country was founded on. Government run healthcare is just one more step to socialism. SOCIALISM DOES AND WILL NOT WORK!
What gets me are all of these anti-capitalists who drive around in CARS covered in anti-capitalist BUMPER STICKERS they must have BOUGHT from a BUSINESS. They also happen to be wearing CLOTHES, drinking $4 lattes from the local COFFEE SHOP, and are, most likely, going to go home and watch TELEVISION, which will tell them to BUY SOMETHING ELSE from a CAPITALIST BUSINESS.
You know. Part of me hopes these sheep get what they want. Then they'll have to sleep in the bed they made. But a much bigger part of me wants my 18 month old son to grow up in a country where hard work pays off with great rewards. A country where he wouldn't have to give those rewards away to people who are too lazy to work for anything and have a sense of entitlement about them, hands constantly held out expecting something for nothing. That is NOT the country my boy should grow up in.
I retired in 93 with full health insurance now they have added $3400. a year that I have to pay, plus a higher deductible. the wife was in the hospital 4 day copay, meds, ins was over $8400.00 try that on retirement
Ok. Kilowat. I'm sorry to hear about your med bills. But in order to recieve a quality product, sometimes you have to pay for it. Isn't that the American way of life with most services? Capitalism is one thing that has made this country as great as it is. America didn't truly start it's economic decline until these ridiculous bailouts. We are fighting fire with fire. And have you seen the estimated cost of "free" healthcare? It's almost in the trillions. That's a lot of dough for something free.
Ok. Nearly 50 million uninsured. I guess we should disregard the fact that a large portion of those uninsured are people who just don't want insurance. They can easily afford it, they just don't want it. Another large fraction of your intimidating figure are people who qualify, but are too lazy to fill out the proper paperwork for health insurance. Subtract the uninsured ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, and you're left with roughly 5 million uninsured. And even they already recieve free healthcare.
I actually had an incident over the winter where I had to get an MRI. I found a neurologists, got the tests I needed, and discovered nothing serious. I'm still paying for that MRI, but I'm glad I got it, and I'm glad I'm paying for it with my OWN money and that no one else has to feel the burn in their wallets for it. Emergency rooms are available if you're sick, but I also think they're overused. Every doctor I've been to has allowed me to set up a payment plan--including specialists.
This is pure bull, "Underthehoilytree" because all the ER will do is stabilize you and send you on.
Over 14,000 Americans will die this year (at least) due to a lack of health care; and, apparently, you don't care because you managed (this time) to pay for your own.
Wait until it isn't something CHEAP like an MRI. OR did you just have to pay the copay?
@UTHT: Everything else aside, cost is the main issue. Do you think the bill for your MRI is fair? I'm really curious? When you break down where the cost comes from it doesn't seem so to me. Don't you think that if businesses are allowed to charge whatever price they decide, they will overcharge? Doesn't your bill seem a little high? You said you were still paying....
Hey MM--I think that with freedom (to charge whatever one wants) comes the possibility for competition--for one businessperson to look at another and say, "She/he is charging $3.99 for a latte. We'll charge $3.50!" Why this sort of competition doesn't work in hospitals is beyond me, but where it REALLY needs to be ALLOWED to work is with health insurance.
Hun, the only ones not allowing competition are the I.I. and hospitals. Why would they? Competition is bad for profits. I think the problem most folks are having with this issue is that it really IS that simple. People over complicate it. The health care industry IS that greedy and evil. It just is. State law allows the I.I. to rescind policies at their whim. There are senate committee videos here on YT about it. Type in rescission. You'll be horrified. Check out Robin Beaton.
(hate this short comment space!)--for instance, if people in KY who are refused insurance due to a pre-existing condition could cross state lines and get their insurance in MO (where refusal based on PEC is outlawed), insurers in KY would go NUTS and do something about it...strip away their regulations and lower their costs. Removing some of these regulations that prevent the free mkt from working should be tried first!
I wonder, then, what regulations are in place that prevent hospitals from competing with one another as far as the cost of certain procedures goes? My MRI honestly wasn't all that expensive--but I just don't have more than $20/month to put towards it!! I'm not going to scream "it's not fair..."I don't know what's fair when it comes to the cost of an MRI. I am not at ALL against health care reform. I'm just against THIS PARTICULAR BILL and some of the crap that's hidden in its 1000+ pages.
It's called a monopoly. The AMA site has the #'s. The industry is highly concentrated. A good example is Rick Scott, a current backer of the anti reform movement. Google him. He bought up hospitals, then replaced them with his own company hospitals. Monopoly. No competition. The lack of competition in the industry is actually anti-free market. They charge what they want because there are no regulations! It's the same in every state. Shopping wont help. State law has given the I.I. free rein too.
medicare/medicaid fraud and fined 1.7 bil. Dissatisfied with his enormous profits for providing crappy care(employees in his hospitals testified to some gruesome cost cutting measures) he systematically overcharged those programs. He had (has?) a monopoly in several states and he now throws tons of cash around to stop reform. See the connection? If Obama's plan is a threat to folks like them, it's good for us IF it has a public option. Google him.
That's interesting about PEC's being outlawed in MO. Good for them! Obama wants to make that a federal regulation. Making the industry play fair through some regulation is part of the plan, the other part is providing competition in the form of a govt. plan, that free market principle you love so much;) The medical industrial complex is already fighting any regulation so Obama can't (wont?) go so far as to place direct cost regulations nationally. The compromise is the P.O. & there's no bill yet.
Mitch McConnell said we have the best Health care system, if your sick go to the emergy room!!!!well guess who payes for that, we do in higher Ins.Hospital will make it on the Insured. I guess when your 26 you don't need Ins.
Okay..you're right. I must have turned away before I got to the tragic headstone. It was enough just hearing the agonized screaming from across the room.

Perhaps we will remove this video as soon as you learn how to spell "starred" or perhaps when you learn not to end your sentences in prepositions? Either way, if it annoys you, then it is doing something right. I guess the horrible truth about healthcare hurts.

Mouseland58 2 years ago

No. So where does that leave them?
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Another fine example of the absues in the welfare system recently came to light in NY--$200 per child meant to go towards SCHOOL SUPPLIES...yet Walmart and several other retailers called the news stations to report that electronics and jewelry were flying off the shelves.
As a member of the working, tax-paying "poor" (even though I don't feel poor) this is where I'm coming from.
UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago

UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago
Sounds suspect. You were at the bbq, so you must know them. But I'm thinking that there are probably thousands of "able bodied people" out of a job right now and you don't quit living just because you receive aid.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
I'm sorry--that's a total misappropriation of funds...of MY MONEY. That's the kind of crap that burns me up. Not to mention the fact that after dinner was over, they broke out the booze and we all watched a movie on their flat-screen TV via a brand new laptop.
UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago
I can assure you they didn't buy the booze with stamps, lol! As for the rest, do you know when they bought those things? I guess you can game the system but the application process is rather thorough, it would be tough. Are you saying that because they get aid they don't deserve to keep and enjoy the things they have? I had my car and TV and computer while I was on and off aid.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
I'm happy for you, MM, that you now have a good job and were able to get back on your feet. Ideally, that's how the welfare system should be used. It is NOT used that way, however. The other night, I went to a party. We had steak, a table loaded with fruit and vegetables, and individual pints of ice cream (the expensive stuff). As I was eating my steak and enjoying the evening, the people throwing the barbecue proudly announced that they had funded their barbecue with FOOD STAMPS.
UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago
They consider it sharing.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago

Majority. Conservatives.
Now who who doesn't get it?

Yeah. I agreed with you about the colbert thing. But I said that a lot of uneducated liberals take him seriously too. As usual, you found a one-sided survey and tried to pass it off as fair evidence to your claims. GOOD JOB!

Of course! It's about time...uh, yeah.
Is he screaming his 1977 opinions (that he no longer holds) on TV or radio?
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
FAILS.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Where are you getting your info.? I think the answer to that would be far more interesting. And when did the criteria change to "popular" broadcasters? The standard has been set as those who "promote violence". I see excuses, misdirection, and a refusal to stay on topic from you but no realistic comparison as yet. This constant dissemination on your part shows a lack of intellectual honesty and a sense of desperation that is rather disgusting. Almost pitiable. You are but a scared reactionary.

I think that's promoting violence.

"Musically", It's common knowledge that liberals find it difficult to recognize sarcasm. Rush and Beck often use sarcasm in hopes of people like you taking it out of context. It makes it very easy for conservative talk show hosts to expose you as the morons that you are.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
1.) It's republicans who think Colbert is serious. Your "common knowledge" is bull. 2.) Abusers and manipulators use the tactic Rush and Beck employ. Hurl the threat or insult then claim, "I was just kidding". Your rebuttal is disingenuous and disgusting as it's clear in making excuses for, you approve of these tactics. Shame on you. 3) You've been whining about name calling? Check yourself.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Rush and Beck shouldn't HAVE to say they were just kidding. My point is ANYONE with half a brain can recognize sarcasm when they hear it. And who thinks Colbert is serious? Gullible people. Be they democrats or republicans, because he gets complaints from both sides. And the only name calling I have done has been justified by your belligerent responses. But none of this matters, does it? We've already side-tracked enough from the original issue and you libs will NEVER admit defeat.

The hypocrisy of todays repubs. claiming Lincoln as one of their own is astounding!
musicallymotivated 2 years ago

This country was ranked twentieth out of 29 in 1995 in terms of life expectancy for women and twenty-first in terms of life expectancy for men.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
I NEVER said America doesn't spend a lot more than other countries on health care. It's one of the reasons why America is one of the most, if not the most state of the art country in the world when it comes to health care. And again, do some REAL research for a change and look up how much Obama's proposed health care plan will cost. lol. "free". Your ignorance is painstakingly amusing.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Once again: content-healthaffairs-org: Peruse some data rather than visceral talking points.
"U.S. cost containment efforts. Two aspects of spending and use of hospital services in the United States warrant special attention. First, numbers of hospital days per capita, lengths- of-stay , and admission rates were well below the OECD median, suggesting that greater use of hospital services is not primarily responsible for the higher level of hospital spending."
Facts>Your Insults
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
"greater use of hospital services is not primarily responsible for the higher level of hospital spending" Once again, thank you for supporting my point. This is because "higher hospital spending" is used to purchase more expensive, state of the art research and technology which contributes to a higher quality of health care in America than most, if not all other nations. Reading comprehension>cutting and pasting.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
So since hospitals are cutting care to protect their bottom line, their MUCH higher level of spending, (which far surpasses at least 23 other countries), those exorbitant costs are strictly because of research and technology? You are aware that pharma tells the same lie right? What you offer is rhetoric that is not borne out by facts. Again. You also choose to repeatedly ignore the fact that America does not have the best health outcomes nor the highest quality of care. Read the study.

Unreal.
PoliSciHeather 2 years ago
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Oh, touche, you have been equally as entertaining for me! Perhaps the reason progressive radio doesn't do as well in the ratings is because HATE SELLS and that is primarily what your shows spew - hate and fear. But I welcome your comments, you are increasing the search-ability of this video with each dumb remark. THANKS!
PoliSciHeather 2 years ago
lol! You're calling me "dumb" now. This is great! Look, Heather. Why don't you just call me "doodie head" and get it over with. And you're right! Bristol broadcasts to a much wider area than most radio stations around here. Electric has a 100,000 watt radius to concentrate on. And you call my posts mindless? How's this for mindless. According to Gallup's annual health care survey, 83% of Americans are pleased with the current quality of health care they recieve. Also, economists Robert L. Ohsfeldt and John E. I'm stating facts and giving references, Heather. Where are yours? Who's posts are mindless?
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Took me about 5 seconds to find this. The data isn't current so you know the #'s are far worse now:
"At the same time, other researchers and countries have decided that a single aggregate indicator cannot possibly summarize the health status of a population and therefore have begun developing multiple indicators."
Anyone claiming such simple indicators as accidents and murders can greatly affect the #'s is obviously peddling anti-reform propaganda. Science>Rightwing propaganda.

Just the notion that one could cite a book with the words "business" and "health" in the title as a credible piece of work, with any real value to the healthcare debate, is laughable.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Health care IS a business you numbskull! Richard E. Ralston nailed it when he wrote, "Ultimately all health care is paid for by business activity. Business provides the wages, the return on investment, the insurance, the taxes that pay directly for health care, and the insurance and taxes that fund government programs. When the government manages to provide services at all, it can give you nothing that it does not take from you or others, or from your employer and other employers."
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Our health should not be treated as a commodity. The whole problem is that it IS treated as a business. Medicaid, Medicare are non profit and they do quite well delivering services! I'm sure you've enjoyed your tax dollars paying for my kids to see the doc for years, and for every time I was pregnant, including stays at Kosair and Vanderbilt. Premium care was provided with the flash of a card. You can at least be assured your tax dollars went to support a quality, efficient, &moral system.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Soooooo...I guess.....You switched sides??? Because That's exactly the point I've been making. We already have free health care that we already pay taxes on. Well, those of us with jobs pay the taxes, anyway. I'm glad you finally admit that America already has a quality, efficient free health care system. But the moment government FORCES you to use THEIR health care plan, that is the moment when liberty dies.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Just more proof that you are not current with the facts of this debate. The ONLY time I was covered is when I was pregnant and my my kids are covered in SPITE of Bushs veto. Medicaid does not cover adults in Ky. unless you qualify for KTAP. I am now middle class & uninsured along with millions of others. Your simplistic generalizations have no place in discussing such a complex issue. I am quite sure you've had no direct experience with the welfare system as your statements prove. Facts>Rhetoric
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
KTAP and Medicaid are two completely different things. KTAP takes place of child support. It is a check of up to $225.00 a month when there is an absent parent. Also you can be covered on medicaid if you would have went back to the DCBS office and continued your coverage. And Medicaid is available to all children. And as far as saying that people are rejected because lack of pay is a bunch of bull. The hospitals offer programs to help with families that cannot pay. You need to read your facts.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
As far as you saying that Medicaid doesnt cover adults in KY , I dont know where you get your information from but that is not true. I know several people that get it and some that do not even have children so it would not even have anything to do with KTAP. And i also just looked on the DCBS website and nowhere on there does it say you must qualify for one to get the other.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
As for you attitude of, let the poor go to the hospital, I was under the impression that that was one of the hidden taxes passed on to everyone else and thus a huge part of the problem. It's not some glorious panacea for the poor! And I'm seeing that you only have second hand knowledge of the welfare system. If Medicaid is so readily available, why did I go to the free clinic and wait for 4 hours to be seen? Because I worked 40 hrs. a wk. and made just a tad too much to qualify for the card!
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
And do you know what the bill was for wearing a heart monitor for 24 hrs. was? $260.00! That four hour wait was well worth it considering I didn't pay, but I never went back either. There are qualifications to be met at the free clinic that I wont bother with here. Each case is different and anyone painting this issue with a broad brush is being deliberately obtuse. I have taken advantage of every scrap of govt. aid available. We survived because of the system for 15 years so I know first hand.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Ok and there is another point that you tried to make that backfired on you. There are free clinics available to people and they will send you to specialists if needed. And what does the poor have to do with going to the hospital? if you are that sick and need treatment then thats where you will go. You are just looking for excuses now to try and cover what you thought were facts. good try though.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
I repeat. When people use the hospital for basic treatment, the costs fall to everyone else if they can't pay. That's a problem. It's crazy that people can't get preventative treatment that keeps them out of the hospitals. That you would advocate going to the hospital at all is rather weird. We have one free clinic in our town. You cannot seek treatment there if you work under 40 hrs. a week. Seems you are the one looking for excuses.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
I never said you have to qualify for one to get the other. You went waaay out with that one! BTW, it may as well be true that medicaid doesn't cover adults. The requirements are disgusting: A family of four can only have an income of $383 to qualify! When you are PREGNANT as I SAID, the limit increases to 185% of federal poverty levels. I don't see how you failed to find this while you were doing your "research". It took me 5 mins. I'm going to post these #'s far and wide! We are NOT covered!
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
The only way I ever received coverage while not pregnant and dirt poor was through KTAP. Medicaid will not cover people who earn a living wage. A few dollars over the line, though I was raising 3 kids alone, and poof! No medicaid. I asked. I lived it so don't tell me to check anything. The income scale and rules for KCHIP do include a high number and that program overlaps traditional medicaid nicely. As it should, but Medicaid is NOT available to all children just as free school lunch is not.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Musically, It's YOU, lady, who is spewing misinformation. You "asked" if you were covered? Wow! That took a lot of effort on your part! Perhaps you DO qualify for medicaid but are just too lazy to make calls and fill out forms to get it. MILLIONS of Americans are uninsured for that reason alone. ZERO initiative to do ANYTHING! You want everything handed to you while you sit on the couch and watch Jerry Springer. COUNTLESS programs exist that offer free healthcare!
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
How DARE YOU! I asked my CASE WORKER while RE certifying for aid IN HER OFFICE! You do not "call" either.

It must not be too hard being someone like you passed it. And if you have gotten so far in life, what do you keep complaining about. you are making yourself look like a fool
sunshine092280 2 years ago
What I am trying to convey is that I see the welfare issue from both sides. I no longer qualify for any aid and that is fine. I pay taxes to fund these programs for others now and I do not begrudge them that. More people should use the system we have though it falls far short of covering everyone in need. Since you are so knowledgeable about all things, you should know that all mail carriers are hired in as RCA's. Look it up. I'm tired of explaining things to you.You don't want to understand.

I have rational republican friends that are appalled at the vile way you attacked someone who is actually a welfare success story! You seem to crave notoriety, you got it bud! Proud of yourself now? I hope not.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
KTAP is a check (welfare) that you draw from the state.. NOT MEDICAL COVERAGE. it takes place of child support. it has nothing to do with medicaid. And yes medicaid is available for people who work. And every hospital around here has it posted that no person can be refused because of lack of pay. Have you called any of the hospitals and asked what programs are available for families that cannot pay? Oh yea the answer to that would be no or this sick video would not have been put on here.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
Wrong: KTAP is NOT just a check. It is a package of aid with strict qualifications: The package includes a pittance of actual cash aid. Mine was 160.00 a month for a family of 4 with an income of 1000.00 per month. Medical coverage for the caregiver. Three cash bonuses for PROVEN continued full time employment over time. A small reimbursement to help maintain transportation, also with strict guidelines. This is paid to the garage etc. not to the recipient. And a lifetime cap of 5 years.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
I am on the website of DCBS and KTAP is a check. The transportaion check is for you to volunteer 20hrs a week if you are not working or for you to use for gas to get to work. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MEDICAID. And if you draw KTAP there must be an absent parent.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
i completely understand. I am right and you are wrong. Im just trying to show people that what you are saying is not true. You are making it out that there is almost nothing available or you have to be poor. I worked, got a medicaid and so did my children and made good money.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
what is so humiliating about it? you are helping your child. And yea i would say i am glad that my children have it because i know if they need to go to the doctor or need a specialist for something, then they have medicaid that pays 100% for everything, they are getting the treatment they need and i dont have to worry about them being turned away for lack of pay. I dont know anyone who would say it humiliates them to have 100% medical for there children other than you lady. thats a poor excuse
sunshine092280 2 years ago
I have thought about it and the only thing i can come up with on why you would think this is humiliating is because you think you are too good to receive any kind of help. You are afraid that someone might see you at the DCBS office and think oh she must not have much money and need the state to help her and her kids. that is so sad on your part. YOU ARE NOT ANY BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
you and the points you are "trying" to make are pointless. and i have read back over your comments and nowhere on it does it say you were a single parent. you are just now bringing that up.
sunshine092280 2 years ago
Oh for christs sake! How else do most people end up on the rolls? My ex never paid support blah, blah, blah. It's typical and should be obvious! Just the mention of KTAP to anyone knowledgeable would make that apparent. People at the welfare office are all there for the same reason! Why would that be a factor? The welfare system has it's good points and bad. We need a program to fill the gap! I HELP people navigate the system, I encourage people to seek out the programs! I am not ashamed of it!
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Check your facts. From the very comment that provoked you:
"A few dollars over the line, though I was raising 3 kids alone"
I said I was "covered" medically under KTAP. I used Medicaid to describe that coverage in error I suppose. I use the term generally to mean covered medically by the govt. It was a ridiculous thing to argue about. Apparently the KTAP program I was on in 2000 has changed (for the worse) according to your "research" All I know is what I know from actual experience.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
The KCHIP procedure is fairly easy going compared to food stamps and KTAP. I just got my recert form today as a matter of fact and all I have to do is fill it out and mail it in. For the other programs you have have your employer and landlord fill out forms. It's not the end of the world, you get used to it, but it is embarrassing! KCHIP rocks! My kids still qualify, as do yours apparently. They can receive care with no hassles. That's all Obama wants for uninsured adults! That's the point!
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
PERIOD. This is ridiculous and pointless.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Very touching and illustrates the point beautifully. I wont say our system is "broken". That sounds like an excuse like,"oops, I just dropped the healthcare system and it broke!" Uh, no. This is about GREED,GREED,GREED. The almighty dollar is being valued above the lives of our countrymen. We pay more than other industrialized nations and receive lower quality of care, period, that's a fact. For those of you against reform for whatever reason, you are pawns, & puppets & you should be ashamed.

The only thing this video shows is the radicalism and ignorance of the far left. Well, terrible over-acting as well. WHAAAAA!

Where do the folks in Jesusville, Paducah, Ky. get their bad information? I can't believe they are so misinformed.
HillbillyReport 2 years ago
Yes. Believe it or not, the AMA supports health care reform. Google it if you don't believe it.
(You may not find it on Faux Noise or Limbaugh's page, though.)

Which do YOU think is more important since they are both socialized?
revjmike 2 years ago
And if socialized medicine works so well for other countries, Why do they come here for treatment? Rush Limbaugh hit it on the nose when he suggested the government buy everyone who demands free healthcare a train ticket to Canada. That would be a much cheaper solution. But you might find the hospitals in Canada rather lonely, since a lot of Canadians run to America for quality healthcare.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
I'll turn that question around. Why do some wealthy Americans go to France (as an example) for their health care? Why do Americans go to Canada for their health care?
You see it really does go both ways. It sounds like you have never really utilized the American system to me. We really are 37th. People in Canada, England, France, etc., live longer. Their infant mortality rate is lower, etc. Our system stinks. It is the most expensive, yes; but that doesn't make it better.

GravitonProductions OH Rush is you mentor!! takes Viagra on his caribbean vacation, then doctor shops for oxycoton what a role model LOL couldn't serve in the military because he had a boil on his sorry ass
kilowat46 2 years ago
Kilowat...Come on. Really? You disappoint me. But it's quite expected. That's what you libs do best, put words in other peoples mouths. I NEVER said Rush was my mentor. I simply illustrated one good point the guy made. You should really work on your reading comprehension skills.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago

American health care is a ponzi scheme
revjmike 2 years ago 2
Our "quality of care" is not 37th. Our "healthcare system" has been ranked 37 out of 191 countries by the World Health Organization. Their standards are almost directly relative to government involvement in the healthcare system. In other words, we are rated on how much control our government has over healthcare, NOT by the actual quality of care. So by those standards, I wish we were more like 191.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago
Who told you this? Rush?
We are rated on age of death, repeat hospital admissions for the same problem, infant mortality, etc.
We have some great medical facilities and some great doctors; but if I get sick I'd rather be in France.
revjmike 2 years ago

I'm happy with what I have, and I don't despise rich people, especially since the wealthy are the ones paying me.

and what did we spend in Iraq 2 trillion and still spending..
do you think it right that CEO of insurance co. to be making $9 million in pay, while denying patience the health care they need, denying health care for patients with preexisting conditions..
kilowat46 2 years ago
I totally agree that a lot of money was wasted in Iraq, and the Obama admin continues to waste money in Iraq. But I want to know why success is demonized in America today. If you work hard, become successful and make a lot of money, you're evil. WHY?! come on! Wether you like it or not, working hard to build a business or career with great rewards is the major concept this country was founded on. Government run healthcare is just one more step to socialism. SOCIALISM DOES AND WILL NOT WORK!
GravitonProductions 2 years ago 2

I retired in 93 with full health insurance now they have added $3400. a year that I have to pay, plus a higher deductible. the wife was in the hospital 4 day copay, meds, ins was over $8400.00 try that on retirement
kilowat46 2 years ago
Ok.
GravitonProductions 2 years ago

UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago
This is pure bull, "Underthehoilytree" because all the ER will do is stabilize you and send you on.
Over 14,000 Americans will die this year (at least) due to a lack of health care; and, apparently, you don't care because you managed (this time) to pay for your own.
Wait until it isn't something CHEAP like an MRI. OR did you just have to pay the copay?
revjmike 2 years ago
@UTHT: Everything else aside, cost is the main issue. Do you think the bill for your MRI is fair? I'm really curious? When you break down where the cost comes from it doesn't seem so to me. Don't you think that if businesses are allowed to charge whatever price they decide, they will overcharge? Doesn't your bill seem a little high? You said you were still paying....
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Hey MM--I think that with freedom (to charge whatever one wants) comes the possibility for competition--for one businessperson to look at another and say, "She/he is charging $3.99 for a latte. We'll charge $3.50!" Why this sort of competition doesn't work in hospitals is beyond me, but where it REALLY needs to be ALLOWED to work is with health insurance.
UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago

UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago
I wonder, then, what regulations are in place that prevent hospitals from competing with one another as far as the cost of certain procedures goes? My MRI honestly wasn't all that expensive--but I just don't have more than $20/month to put towards it!! I'm not going to scream "it's not fair..."I don't know what's fair when it comes to the cost of an MRI. I am not at ALL against health care reform. I'm just against THIS PARTICULAR BILL and some of the crap that's hidden in its 1000+ pages.
UnderTheHollyTree 2 years ago
It's called a monopoly. The AMA site has the #'s. The industry is highly concentrated. A good example is Rick Scott, a current backer of the anti reform movement. Google him. He bought up hospitals, then replaced them with his own company hospitals. Monopoly. No competition. The lack of competition in the industry is actually anti-free market. They charge what they want because there are no regulations! It's the same in every state. Shopping wont help. State law has given the I.I. free rein too.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
Btw. Rick Scott was eventually charged with
medicare/medicaid fraud and fined 1.7 bil. Google him.
musicallymotivated 2 years ago
