  • "The Best Way, Is The Way"

    I love it, thanks.

  • You are so awe inspiring, that you all too often leave me speechless Simon. Thanks for the three point tip Jeremy, it really finishes the foot.

  • Simon, I don't know if you've heard of etsydotcom, but you should check it out. It's a great place to buy and sell all things hand made. All you need is a PayPal account to set up shop. I once had a jewelry shop there. There is a ton of great pottery for sale.

  • Thanks muchl to Jeremy for sharing his techniques. Especially giving some tips to tap centering - which still has me confuzzled!

Aren't we lucky, Simon, to have family that we get along with so well!

  • Very helpful, indeed. Thank you.

  • Nice to see Jeremy again, having a good day he is! HaHa Cute!

    Thank you Simon!

Is the weather really hot for Jer ?, it's going to be 100+ F today in Colorado. Glad for a studio in my basement! Except for firing the kilns.

Oh I just test fired a slip made from mud up the road,

I'm very happy with how Red it is at cone 7,

makes me think of Albany Slip will try several more tests and let you know.

Thank you for all the insperation!!!

  • I've just discovered these Simon Leach videos and am enjoying them immensely. As someone who has come to wheel-throwing fairly recently, I find them very illuminating and inspiring. Yes, "keep practicing," but the tips help a great deal too. And it's wonderful that the Leach tradition is alive and well. Thank you!

  • Interesting turning tool Jeremy is using.

I like the different shape/length edges he has on it.

I just picked up "The Self-Reliant Potter" at the library today!

    Thanks!

  • Simon you mentioned the placement of the chain on the wheel in this video. I am one of the people who placed a "linkage" lower on the frame. I tried to send you a link to my wheel and was wondering if you were able to see it. the "linkage I used was a turbuckle type and seems to be working fine so I guess it may be a matter of personal taste. Who knows I will try it with a longer linkage again and see what the diffrence is I'll let you know. Once again thanks for the vids Simon keep em comming!

  • Thanks Simon I really like the close up of the wheel. How heavy do you figure the counter weight is? What would be the minimum for throwing medium to large pots. I could research it but i would like your opinion!

    Thanks

    Steve

  • Would you say, "keep practicing?" ROFL!

  • G'day Simon, Jolly Good!! Ya know, that is very interesting. Thanks! :)

    JPilot2

  • Lovely shape on the bowls.

  • Thanks, Simon. Delightful.

  • OK Simon what did you put in Jeremy's coffee (or tea) this morning? I've never heard him so animated before, swallow with your throat, chew with your teeth!?! Such words of wisdom really... potters are potters as long as we all play in clay!!

Warm regards to all from Debbie in Florida USA

  • Simon, can you do us a favour and show a close up of the turning tool Jeremy is using on the foot rim area please

  • Yes, that caught my attention also. It looks very interesting.

  • Aloha Simon. I'm sure it's not as hot in England as in Spain. I've tried to send you the video of my ceramics lab here in Hawaii to no avail. Youtube can't download as it may be a bit over 10 minutes. I've posted it on the Hewlett Packard Snapfish site but when I try to send you the url, Youtube blocks it. If you have any bright ideas as to how you can see this video, please let me know.

It's 90 F. in Hawaii with 80+% humidity. Sticky and great for throwing!

    Aloha, fawnbreeze who yahoos

  • A suggestion, you might be using an .avi file which is too large. Run it through Windows Movie Maker and save as .wmv at 320x240 smaller size high quality. Trimming and editing can make a smaller file too. I didn't know Snapfish took videos, thanks.

  • type out the url with 'dot' in place of '.'. That way it doesn't get filtered.

  • Tried that too. Youtube must filter Simon closely. I replied to you and GindaUP, but they (my replies) don't show up. HHHHMMNN

  • Maybe they are filtering YOU. ha ha...

    My website is pensandcallsdotcom.

  • Well, it worked for me....... try leaving out the w's..

Sorry, Simon, for cluttering your excellent video and its responses.

    T

  • Jeremy is as crazy as you are, Simon!!! :o)

I enjoyed the visit. Thanks to both of you.

  • Ya gota love that crazy guy! Bet he's a lot of fun at the local pub after a hard day throwing pots!

  • I would LOVE to have a Guinness or two with them in a local pub!
