  • Yes, very well,. verb to be is implied, or you could say built-in (using computer programmer lingo). Thank you Maha,.As always great video. In many languages is the same, male is more standard. Do not be worried about that. We love you females any way.

  • Nahnu Nahnu

Finally - I know what Mork (from Mork and Mindy) was saying - We We

Which perpendicularly (in translation) makes him sound more French

  • hi maha! i remember coming across one of my arab friends, one of them came from saudi arabia, and he addresses me with the "anta"(you) when he spoke to me, another one of my arab friends (i don't remember where he was really from) but he addressed me differently using the pronoun "inta" i was wondering if the pronoun is used in the places in the arab world? thanks in advance! i love your videos! they really help alot!

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha thanks for your class it's really help to recollect my arabic,

  • thank you maha:)

  • @fofo6818 i think what he / she was trying to sat is that, no one speaks that arabic.. not in any arab country. yes it is the language of the quraan but every arab speaks arabic according to their local accent which differs from this arabic.. it is best to say that the arabic being taught here is the FORMAL arabic, when most if not all arabs speak informal arabic

  • @oman0010

yah i know n i was really angry with no reason to... :(

but still who ever wants to learn arabic they should learn it properly... i know arabic is hard but when u set ur mind on something u sure gonna get it... BTW maha good luck n thank u for ur hard work :)))))

  • Maha you rock!

  • I've always been confused. So would you say anta if you were a male or if you were talking to a male? or both? lol. Sorry I'm late to this video. I'm excited about learning Arabic!

  • @larosalinda hhhh nooo ..when you're talking( you are the talker) it doesn't matter whether you're a male or a female..but what does matter is the one who you're talking to ..so (whether you're male or female) when talking to a male you say "anta" and when talking to a female you say "anti" ..^__^

  • Selam Maha...

How do you call Allah? Is there a special pronoun for the Creator?

In Turkish we do not seperate the things (shey-eshya) according to their genders.

As we say "o", I know that there is a similiar-special usage for Allah in Kuran...

    Shukran...

  • Maha,

I was wondering if you are using something that is not a pronoun, do you need the word 'to be'?

For example, to translate "The school is red." Would you say

    المدرسه هو احمر

    or

    المدرسه احمر

    ?

    Thanks,

    Emily

  • @rsichina2005

المدرسة is feminine (notice the taa marbuta at the end)

so what u should say is: المدرسة حمراء

  • @rsichina2005 المدرسة حمراء :)

  • interesting, kinda like Japanese. i has three, one for both female and male, one for females and on for males

    you has one

    they has one

    we has 3

but the big difference is in japanses it is it is considered rude to use i and you. so they are in most cases implied. kinda like saying name in english and meaning what is your name? ;)

  • I find it interesting the way you say you. My family is from Falasteen, they say ainta or ainti, there is more emphasis on the i in ainta so it sounds like inta if you don't recognise correct pronounciations.

  • Hi, Maha, I've just discovered your videos, I watched all the alphabet ones and the vowels but I don't know how to watch them, which is their order? Thanks, you are a great teacher!

  • i am very pleasure to get arabic lessons from you.it made improvable to learn arabic

thanks for your great effort.go ahead please more than now.

  • good channel maha,

Teaching Arabic is not easy at all ! i am fluent in Arabic but i can not teach it to either English as my second language or French as my third language !

  • Same as in the French language. If there are 9 females and 1 male, you refer to them with the masculine pronouns.

  • Hi Maha and what about pronoun IT ?? :)

  • hey that's lot of help & you really did it in a cool way.."an adorable angel"..:)

  • dual pronoun fro female is not antma it is antun

  • @dreaaam2004

    wrong !!!!

  • thank you so much!for your videos!all your videos are so helpful for everyone!thank you again

  • Maha, If I'm talking to a group (more than two people) and it contains females and males alike, then how I'm going to call them? Antum?

  • @ShadowdancerXXL

    yeah Antum

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha what dialect of Arabic do you use? Where are you from?

  • Maha you're so good..!

can you teach us another language =p ?

  • Liannaha = Because? Is that correct?

    Ams = Yesterday

And what were Yes & No again? Na'wan and La'n? I don't remember.

  • you are very pretty, i'm your fan:)

  • Her explanation is clear with good english. I don't understand why some of them criticize her english... once you have B2-C1 level, we say you've got a nice level and you can teach something in your studied language. I teach Japanese in a parisien university in French, and my French is not perfect, but I can make my student progress and I enable them to speak Japanese!

  • MAHA YOU ARE THE BEST , SOME PEOPLE ARE QNGRY BECAUSE YOU ARE PRETTY AND YOU LOOK A GOOD GIRL TO ME , IM A GIRL TO .

  • I love your accent, it's really cute ^^

  • hey..Thank you for what you do..u r great..kissess

  • good video, jazakhiarun

  • Wow Maha! This is really nice! =) I´m studying Arabic in Peru! and it´s really nice to watch you videos, they are really helpful =) Thank you!!!

  • thank you for the lesson

    & what about "هؤلاء " ?

    them

  • This is the proper arabic which no1 uses anymore!!

each country has its own version of accent and arabic which is used in our everyday life...

This arabic is only useful in writing important stuff and in exams :D

so no1 would walk around the street saying antom , antoma or homm or any of this...

  • There are 18 different personal pronouns in Slovenian language, 6 in singular (there used to be 7 in old fashion Slovenian), 6 in dual, and 6 in plural

  • هل تدرسين البلاغة؟ شكرا

  • this is hard !! nobody talks that arabic now this is very old arabic and very hard. try learn egyptian arabic its the easiest we have 7 pronouns ( ento ) it means you plural male and female ..as an example. trust me nobody talks that arabic. we laugh at this arabic when we talk with it we only use it in writing in important papers

  • @Alshourafa

i hope u r not muslim if u laugh at it- cos it's arabic that's used in kur'an and is very good to know for muslims all over the world :D

  • @Alshourafa But this is arabic, your ignorance of the language, doesn't justify preventing other from learning it the correct way. With egyptian arabic, you won't get access to arabic literature :)

  • your very pretty =)

  • if you want to say the italian "sottointeso" in english, you say "understood"

  • I'm so incredibly happy to be able to learn Arabic this way. This is a great way to learn it :D شكرا, شكرا كثيرن

  • I'm so incredibly happy to be able to learn Arabic this way. This is a great way to learn it :D شكرا, شكرا كثيرن

  • oh It's difficult, but I want to learn it my father and family is Arabic too. Where are you from by the way??

  • Maha,

If I want to respect elder person do you have diffrent version of YOU in arabic?

  • I think you would use intum

    Like salam aleikum

  • no :)

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha

yes there is several ways to address the elderly with respect;hadertak,3ammi,ya 7aj...etc

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha

Actually there is, at least in Egyptian. You can say Hadritak (Male) Hadriteek (female). This isn't necessarily only for older people though.

  • @arifosman786

    good question...

use the plural Pronouns for male (or female)

it's better to use "ANTOM" and it's not obbligato you can use "ANTA''

  • @arifosman786

    good question...

use the plural Pronouns for male (or female)

it's better to use "ANTOM" and it's not obbligato you can use "ANTA''

  • @arifosman786

yes there is...it is called hadretak..

  • @arifosman786

Hadretak حضرتك I didn't know the meaning in English but u can easily use it with anyone older than you.

seyadatk سيادتك s'adatak سعادتك which mean "Your Excellency" those words used in the Mail letters when you talk to up level manager.

I hope this is useful for you.

  • @arifosman786 Well, actually there is. It's : hadretak (masculine)\ hadretek (feminine).

  • you are sweet.

  • I love your pronunciation! Do you know italian too? :)

  • درس مفيد وفكره جيده

  • انا شكرا!

    خيد

  • انا شكرا!

    خيد

  • Cool!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:50, hello!

  • Your introductory post of your video is kind of funny and ironic. I don't think people will demand you to wear headscarf - Hijjab- or to be muslim, cuz speaking Arabic doesnt require anything, and yeah it is a very beautiful language. Anyhow,,, you look pretty good, i like ur eyes,,,i hope you give a nice impressions about Arabs and Muslims instead to generalize such misconceptions and unnecessary stereotypes. Keep the good job girl

  • You so know most of the haters are not Muslim. It's actually a bunch of idiots posing to be ones. Hoping that the rest of us attack the Muslims. This Is a language lesson not a religous one.

  • @leejipark

yes , they're nothing more that just some fools

but Maha isn't Muslim too !

  • @leejipark love ur comment........... :) XD

  • @Ganga0Breed true but it's not as if it was really Adam who DID anything to make Eve...

  • how do i say in arabic.. how do i say in arabic?

  • كيف اقول باللغة العربية

kaifa agoolo (....) bel loghatil arabiyah?

b/w the Brackets you put what ever you are asking about

  • where is she from?

  • Cool video... And you're beautifull aswell, so that's just a plus ! Lol

  • Thanks Anty from Anna

  • Nope, said very wrong, this is the easy wy to remember, ana me, nahnu all of us, anta you one man, antuma you to men, antum all of you men, anti you one lady, antuma you two ladies, antunna you all ladies, Arabic has a singular then a word for two things then it has a plural,

  • Thanks very much

    5 stars

  • i love the last bit, "in the arab world man always wins" that's so true, if it wasn't for adam there would be no eve!!!

  • This is so cool I have friends who speak Arabic and now it will give me something to talk about their culture too .thank you!

  • very nice.........but why say unfortunately 12 pronouns.........it just means ur language is versatile and very specific.

  • @amitnarayankar, but harder to learn, that's why unfortunately.

  • I think you doing a great job teaching ppl Arabic don't listen to those idiots about your English it just fine I bet this guy if he can speake 3 languages.

  • What's wrong with her English ??? Its fine . Good job :-) .

  • eight in english, "I," "you," "she," "he," "it," "we," "you," "they." actually there is another and that is "one" as in the "royal we"

I want to learn arabic now and pick up great girls like this one

  • Learn how to speak english before you try teaching arabic.

  • @yasirahmed08 when you have already learned 5 languages, your english can be accepted also like this

  • dont listen to the haters Maha. i love listening to you. i cant stop saying antum for some reason sounds cool, much love.

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha

that "yasirahmed08" dude seems to be arabic..which makes us arab look bad

    ^^"

well...we're not...that's just the cover of the book:P

anyways, you arabic is great as your english is :)

    keep it up

    ciao

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha I just wanted to let you know that you are truly beautiful I'm sure you get this alot in so many levels . I would love to have someone as beautiful, smart and giving as you are . Aside from learning Arabic the right way because I have Rosseta Stone but I find my self struggling with it . Intellect and beauty , who wouldn't want this , who ever gets with you will be bless for the rest of theirs entire life . O_O

  • do u have any arabic teachers available or self teaching yourself? i asked because my friend tried to learn arabic from the rosetta stone. i listen to the demo rosetta stone copy and i saw a few mistakes mispronunciation too. my opinion but i do not think rosetta stone is a good source to learn arabic. plus it is better for the non arab to fully grasp the grammar or he will make major or minor mistakes while speaking which can change the whole meaning of a sentence.

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha hallo Maha , what means the small zero above the letters ?

    thank you.

  • @abrekize if u learn the alphabet u well know that some letters has many dots or maybe one .=)

  • @yasirahmed08 Her English is very acceptable. Don't be rude.

  • @yasirahmed08 Don't be rude. She is good.

  • Ignore these idiots telling you to cover up. Maybe there wives are so rough, they need to do that.

  • thank u so so much

  • It's amazing how much crossover there is to Slavonic languages, which are not considered to be related. Slavic not only had a dual form but it also had -ima -oma forms. To this day in Polish "with two eyes" is "oczyma" and "with two hands" is "rekoma". The "h" on the third person pronouns is not unfamiliar as we have him and her in English, and many of the European languages have an "n" at the start of the "we" word, such as nous in French or 'nas' in Slavic in the genitive.

  • Thank you for posting. For a few months now I'm living in a neighbourhood (in the hague, holland) with a lot off Arabic speaking neighbours. People say 'they have to learn dutch!' and i agree but also would like to learn to, at least know what they're saying when they don't speak dutch :) maybe having a small conversation would be nice :)

  • Ignore the mentally ill bitter posters. You are very good at what you do and seem to be comfortable doing it.

    Good luck.

  • Good video, giving others an insight of other languages. maybe ill tutor some japanese? = ]

heres a five for your video.

Im hoping you have a video for introductions and farewells

    keep it up

  • arabic is the lang of the koran but this is a total failure u shud start by covering up nd showin off ur hair nd makeup and convert to islam it wil do u sum good

  • first of al u mst hve so mch time on ur hnds to be postin vids of how to learn arabic wen no cares ur chattin aload of nonsense nd be a muslim nd cover arabic is the real lang of god and the koran so stop wit dis bulshit

  • Dont need your views.

    Your English is disgaceful.

  • cheers for the vid. anybody making a political question out of this is a joke.

  • Great vid. Really sorry you're getting stupid comments. In every bunch of roses.......

  • It is good what you are doing.

I would personally not learn Arabic, the most useful languages to learn in my opinion are Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish and English.

I would learn French as it rolls off of the tongue nicely.

  • Arabic is one of the world's top languages and is immensely useful. It just happens to be very difficult, that's all. You could also try learning Portuguese. Obscure? It's the seventh most widespread language in the world.

But be advised that there is more than one form of Arabic. The spoken forms are very different. What she is teaching is fusha, modern standard Arabic, which is only spoken by educated people.

  • You are the best language teacher ever seen!

  • hey

ignore all the haters, your vids are really good..

  • THANKS YOU GOOD PERSON

  • I just wanted to compliment you that's all, if you don't like it that's ok : ) I'd like to learn a new language but right now i've got too many other things to do, good video though

  • if alien life comes into contact with earth at some point, i sure hope the first thing they look at isnt a youtube comments thread

  • Here here, that would be very bad. It's a shame when good videos have such horrible threads attached.

Loved the video, learned something new! Gonna watch more now...

  • my comments don't work?

  • these videos are really good.. and it's good to see not everyone is arogant.. keep up the good work and don't worry what others say.. ur beautiful and well educated where ever your from.. people are just jelouse becuase they are less educated... 5 stars for your video x

  • Your doing very well.. and i wouldnt worry about what other ppl are saying.. there just ignorant and their just upset because there less educated than you.. : ) 5 stars

  • It's very helpful Maha, thanx for that!

  • wow cheers, never concidered going on a vacation to any arabic countries, but if i do this is helpful. Arabic seems much easier to learn than Greek lol. P.S...err...you're stunning?

  • Gotta say, Arabic is a very attractive language to listen to. Sadly the only time I hear arabic on the tv, it's being shouted - giving it a bad image.

  • Great.! Hope u go into the depth of teaching arabic.. which helps u and others to understand the Qur'an accurately in its original language. God bless.

  • hey marhaba ...i really your idea of you teaching other people arabic ... good work :) 5*

  • good job, like yr vdo

just ignore those confused ignorants, islam is not equal to arab

  • lovely viedo i learnd something new =) 5 stars

  • You don't need to learn Arabic, English is the future.

  • as for the negative comments relating to your race, ignore them! The neanderthals (they probably wont understand the word) who make them, are condemned to lives of ignorance and stupidty for eternity! To think that people with these views actually still exist boggles the mind!

  • I love this language, and I'm not Muslim, or Arabic! I found your video very helpful, Maha.I was interested in the parallels between the pronouns you discuss and Hebrew - also, there were some echoes to Koine Greek? The singular, the dual and the plural is a very nice linguistic feature. So, I'd point out to folks, if I was teaching this, that the male ends in a consonant, the female in a vowel, like most European languages. And the male always wins, in any language, apart from Mandarin.

  • Hello Maha, don't let the hijab comments get you down - I've been watching your videos avidly and I find them very useful on a topic that needs good teachers

  • wow so thats why so many people told me Arabic is easy for spanish speaking person because of the accent. I think on a homework I did on class, spanish is composed of a 15% from that language. ^_^

  • Are u Indian? Where are u from? U smell like falafel and chabati... Do u know of a place called body shop? Brush your teeth and put some deodorant before you show ur ugly face on the tube u ugly Indian cow.

  • @q8bug looking at your picture made me stop wanting to offend you back

  • nice one! :)

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha don't worry what the other assholes say to you just keep up the good work. But I might sound ignorant but I hope your own people worn't attack you for doing this show

  • @LearnArabicwithMaha haha even more evil :D

  • That is possibly the worst insult ever.

None of your points are valid. It's stupid making an insult about her smell, for obvious reasons.

And, her teeth actually look nice. White and straight.

It also says, quite clearly, on her profile page where she is from.

  • sucks that u were raped as a child u fukin retarded lunatic.. geez serious wtf is with that comment? get a fukin life and stop using mirrors.. seems like it only amplifies ur pathetic rage ...

  • Maybe you should find a video to learn how to spell English pronouns correctly first. What's with the "U"? This isn't an SMS.

As for the racism, maybe try something more original. Very poor.

  • Very good introduction to a facinating language and culture but so much more to learn thank you for helping us to communicate and understand each other a little better

  • Great ,you are doing an awesome job , Maha

    Keep it up ;)

  • sounds like she's EGYPTIAN ENGLISH!

  • Why would she wear a scarf on her head, when she has such beautiful hair. Get over it.

Well done Maha, you're gorgeous !

  • love ur channel huni, keep it up x

  • I can swear her accent is italian...

  • This is great.... Thank you.

  • Everyones so evil! I'm muslim, I don't wear hijab! Stop pestering her she's free to be whatever religion. When did everyone become so racist?! So many arabic people don't wear hijab, muslim or not. If you wanna say something like that, say it to the air.

  • yea i agree i am not muslim but i would be proud if i were becouse we need to respect all the religions and i know not everyone wears hijabs only stupid people think that. its sad

  • @musteatmuffin21

well depends what country you r from really!

  • your a muslim and you dnt wear hijab i mean do you know much about your religion it says those who do not cover their head shave it off so tell me doesn't islam tell you to wear hijab or not, plzz just because others don't wear hijab doesn't make it alright, its like the blind leading the blind

  • @luka93ZzZZzz she clearly stated she aint a muslim

  • You twit, what makes you think she's Muslim? She's a brown woman who speaks Arabic? You do know that subdural melanin levels don't dictate your religion or language? Women, whatever colour they happen to be, can choose to speak, or teach, any language they want, no matter what their religion. In this young lady's case I can't see any evidence of religion... just that she may be Italian. So hard as this may be for you to comprehend, stop talking arse gravy. (See, I translated just for you.)

  • @luka93ZzZZzz at no point does it say in the muslim faith that anyone should wear a hijab. just like it DOES say, like all most other faiths, eg christianty for example, that it is a sin to commit murder. but it doesent stop idiots thinking that it does. you know the sort of people im thinking of!

  • @canitakeyourpic: get your facts straightened out.. in the Qu'ran it clearly states that women should cover their body but their face and their hands. before you go spreading absolute crap, you should research.

  • Hi learnarabicwithmaha, nice little vids, just a little criticism in that 'you all' 2nd person pronoun plural is only found in certain American English dialects. There is no equivalent in formal/standard English. However the early modern English 'ye' would be a better option...sorry to nit pic, just got grammar on the brain at the mo.

  • Ignore what these narrow minded people are saying, you are doing an awesome job, and this vid is amazing just like you. Thank you so much for this keep up the good work!!!

  • where is my comment gone?

  • You have 12 because you arabs speak to women differently i.e. with no respect whatsoever.

  • u'r shaking ur head alot

  • I have tried to learn Arabic from books and tapes before and always found them very dry and hard to take in but this video is very good and helps brings the language alive. Could you tell me if you are speaking a formal sort of Arabic or a sort used in a specific country. I understand other languages, such as hindi, vary significantly from region to region. Keep up the good work!

  • Interesting thankyou.

  • yeah right, im sure that a say, cristion robed a bank so now i hate em all thay are all bank robbers am i right? no of corse im not so stfu not all muslims are terorists.

  • you need to understand hussain isnt even muslim. no sane muslim would even use their own name while posting...its jus stupid infact nobody on youtube fullstop uses their own name....hussain774 is a fake account made by somebody more the likely a jew/zionist to show as if hussan is a muslim and thefore cause insecurity in this woman from doing her job. this is the motive of the jew/zionist, however its just common sense that nobody would use their real name or try to give their identity away

  • put Hijaab

  • مجهودك كبير تشكري عليه وفعلا انتي كنتي مثال جميل لمن يملكون المقدره في الرقي بمتسوى الثقافه ، اتمنى ليكي السعاده في حياتك ،، باي

  • if ur not a muslim wat religion r u maha?

  • hi im a muslim and i dont speak arabic myself but my dad does! xx

  • wow people im a christian and im ok with muslims (and im 14 !) come on you supposed adults, grow up yeah !/its only the extremists i dnt like but you can just brand an arab or muslim a terrist or bad person because of their faith .

  • it was just a waste of my 4 minutes life watching this shit. Learn Russian and Chinese instead people.

  • I like that this is a video about arabic without the additional "noise" of political or religious themes to it. It gives me hope that one day people will one day leave their beliefs as just that...beliefs... not truths but imaginery concepts whos truth is unknown thus not worth spending too much energy on.

  • this is about language not about religion. Use your small brains to see the difference.. LANGUAGE.. not RELIGION.. this is about LANGUAGE.. not RELIGION. Is that hard to understand?

  • it's good you are doing these videos

  • Like your reply...hope eshoo8000 understands that.

  • There's nothing wrong with being.g Muslim its the political idea that terrorists are all of the Muslim people which is not true. Some politicians bend Islamic tradition to include terrorism.
