A bit heavy on the glue. Always let the glue get tacky b4 putting vinyl back. Also it's best only cut it down b4 gluing and make the intricate (net cuts) after gluing. Always check to see which glue to use and use the correct trowel (or smaller), Prep is vital. A bb will look like a golf ball under the vinyl!. Not a good DIY project. Cutting under the door trim (jam saw) makes a good job.Proper door transitions are vital too. Patch/level floor if needed.Buy GOOD vinyl or it will look bad.
@mrsparex You sound like a experienced Vinyl Installer. I've been in the business for 10 years learning from my dad of 37 years. We work in the midwest and currently charging $7 a square yard. Our whole business is about doing it right and not fast and cheap. I'm just curious as to what you charge for installing sheet vinyl? Were in the process of changing our price sheets because good work isn't cheap and that price reflects upon us. Good installers should be getting paid a premium.
@deleetmeeh I've been pricing things too low. I've been subcontracting under a Lowes contractor on most of my sheet vinyl so Lowes and the contractor has already taken their cut B4 I get my money. I have little overhead and if I make $300 in a day I'm happy. Fortunately I get to "hand pick" who I offer my services to. I've been charging by the job more than the yard (mistake on my part) and most everyone is charging by the foot nowadays. The big box stores charge over a dollar a square foot!
these people are absolute amatuers at this. they left way way too much adhesive on the floor when applying it. and most sheet vinyl floors today are not designed to be rolled with neither a 75 or 100 pound roller. the glue will squeeze up between the wheels and leave ridges of glue under the vinyl, which will be visible. some things are best left to those who know what they are doing.
