I'm not sure who MarkDouglasC's comment was to or who he thinks is being "blamed." His attitude seems to be that we cannot cut spending. Period. And anyone who thinks we can is deluded and unrealistic. If this is the case, then there truly is no hope, because that is like saying that ceasing to borrow more on your credit card than you can afford is "not realistic." Ron Paul is not into conspiracies. Where did you get that? If you are referring to a North American Union, there really has been a common currency proposed, called the Amero. It was proposed by the Fraser Institute in Canada. There really are plans for a freeway between Mexico and Canada. The Texas legislature voted to oppose it. These are not fantasies. I agree with you about the Fair Tax. Spending could be cut rather easily if we are willing to bring our troops home from around the world. One also needs to take into account the growth in the economy that would occur due to lower taxes and a readjustment of our military. There are many agencies which would be eliminated. The hard part is getting the members of Congress to do what is necessary. I think we cannot afford NOT to cut spending as deeply as Ron Paul is suggesting.

Your income tax goes to the federal reserve to pay back the interest on the money the government borrowed from them. Before the federal reserve, our treasury printed the money interest free, which they can do again. If you stopped the nation building and dismantled 1/16 of our nuke program, we would have a surplus of money.
I understand the reduction in government spending in terms of unnecessary services; but what about police officers, firefighters, public playgrounds, the coast guard, hell even the military protecting all of us? So how do all of the wonderful free services we receive get funded? Will fire fighters become large corporations now? Plus reducing federal spending to levels ten years ago...did they forget about inflation? Or perhaps the failing US dollar? It seems like the buzz about this guy is that he is proposing change which I totally agree with...change is important. However, in order to fully endorse this man I need to see how he plans to fund all of the "free" services that we take for granted.

In my state, the current gasoline tax is around 42 cents a gallon. Income tax is 25%, sales tax is rising, and I get nickeled and dimed for everything I earn. I would rather go without police and firefighters than be a slave for my government

By implementing a sensible foreign policy of nonintervention and bringing our troops home from around the world, we can cut spending to where we can eliminate the income tax. The president DOES have the power to bring the troops home. He can also veto bills, not appoint cabinet chairs for certain agencies, and other tactics. But his election, especially if it is by a large margin, would provide a mandate. It can be done.
However, if you vote for anybody else, It will definitely not happen. In fact, you'll just get more of the same. The size, cost and scope of government will grow under any president otehr than Ron Paul. He is the only noninterventionist, the only limited government candidate, the only one talking about our falling dollar.

You are correct, Ron Paul says "we" can do it. The Executive branch cannot do this. It must be the majority vote of Congress. YOU must tell your representatives how YOU want them to vote. Repealing the 16th Amendment will be a challenge. First we must reduce Fed spending to the levels of a decade ago. We can cut by half the $628 Billion/year military expenditures...that's a start. Cutting Federal departments is another savings.

As far as the number of soldiers, no one knows exactly how many soldiers are out of the country at any given time. If you read his facial expression, he didn't want to quote any number that couldn't be proven immediately. Everyone uses "estimates" when talking about the number of soldiers abroad. Tim Russert was wrong on his number anyway.
As far as the numbers and figures, Tim Russert was asking him so many different questions at once that Paul couldn't answer before he was being asked another question on a slightly different subject. The appearance was that Paul was not knowledgeable, but he is, and he does have a transitional plan to get the country out of this mess.
Tim Russert railroaded him and ignored Paul's answers to bulldoze the conversation in another direction. Make sure to watch the interview before taking an article's viewpoint to heart. Watch Ron Paul's face as he tries to mentally add up the number of soldiers in all the countries, but gets interrupted with another question. The interview was prepared to make Ron Paul look bad.
Regardless, Paul was right when he said we have more soldiers than we need stationed in other countries. Who really needs exact figures when the whole point is they ALL need to come home? Paul's message is the same whether he says an exact number or not. And by the way, he did say how much money the country would save, but Russert ignored that, too.

We should do away with direct taxation on citizens (income or otherwise) and return to levying fees and tariffs on foreign and interstate trade as provided for in the US constitution. Taxing a person's wage/salary as income is wrong and unethical as it is only a current fair market value exchange for his/her time, labor, and skills/talents and does not consist of true income/gain. To confiscate a person property without due process of law is unconstitutional. Income taxes fall under this.
Ron Paul comes off as somebody running for Congress, not the President of the United States. His lack of EXECUTIVE experience shows. Not only does he lack the experience, he doesn't possess the born talent to LEAD. He's nothing but an over-hyped candidate riding in a blimp fueled by anti-establishment hype.
He has been a congressman for decades and has far more experience in that regard than many other candidates, but I know what you mean about not coming off as a man running for President.
I also know that "not coming off right" is no reason not to vote for a man whose ideas (end the IRS, abolish the federal reserve, adopt noninterventionism, etc.) will bring so much more prosperity to this country than ever before and whose integrity is remarkable, let alone when compared to the rest.

No, but it's a common misunderstanding. As his campaign spokesman has said, Ron Paul is going to use any money donated by these men to spread his message of freedom, peace and prosperity. If they think they can influence him in any way by donating, they're wasting their money. But now that's just that much less money they have spend on their causes. What's wrong with that?

Roads are paid for by gas tax (44 cents a gallon). Schools are paid for by property tax (which is a state tax). A lot of the federal spending is for the war and the countless agency's that waste billions of dollars. Social security was 28bill in the hole in 1964, it was started not to help old people but to but be another general tax for the federal Gov. The 28bill as well as at the money SC had collected was spent on general federal Gov. expense.

Okay.. here's the problem.. If you get rid of the income tax, then how do you pay for the roads, schools, and other things that are funded by the government? IF YOU DON'T MAKE MONEY, YOU CANT SPEND IT.
Buddha, The income tax is used to pay back, with interest, the money we borrow from a private bank known as the Federal Reserve. There would be no national debt if we didn't borrow. So, instead of borrowing, Ron Paul suggests we make our own money. You see, the government doesn't make the money anymore ever since the Federal Reserve was established in 1913. The bigger question is, how can we AFFORD the IRS and the Federal Reserve? We became a world power without it - not with it.
Perhaps you should get a little more informed. Next time you go to the gas pump understand that 50 cents to 1 dollar of the total price is going to taxes - this tax pays for the roads not income tax. If you own a house and have paid attention to where the property tax money goes you will know that this is how schools are funded.
The federal income tax does NOT fund schooling; that is funded via local property taxes. The Dept of Education is just another layer of bureaucracy -- schools need teachers, NOT bureaucrats!
Eliminating the income tax would still leave the government with as much revenue as it had less than a decade ago, AS YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD FROM THE AD. We had "roads, schools, and other things funded by the government" ten years ago. Problem solved!

The money will come from eliminating entitlements, and getting rid of the Federal Reserve, who, by the way, is no more federal than fed ex, and charges the US INTEREST on every single dollar that they print. It's the biggest scam in history.
Roads are paid almost totally with transportation excise taxes, gas taxes, and tolls.

Federal roads, if not already tolled and owned by foreign countries, will be paid for by state government/other taxes. If nothing is to be done about inflation, Social Security will the last of what we should worry about. What good is sending out millions if it is worthless. The Space program? the show me the law stuff is beside the point , if anyone files a w4 or w9 making a statement on you the proper legal pathway to correct this is to file a 1040 for the return of the amount withheld by correcting the incorrect w2. it is a matter of liability , a w4 is submitted you have to refute it on a 1040 or it stands. failure to file is assumed liability for the amounts claimed on the w2 or 1099. there is a procedure learn it and how the fraud works read cracking the code visit losthorizon

get rid of the irs sounds good. as for the income tax? what income tax? oh the one fedral employees pay on there federal earnings called WAGES? well i guess if the rest of us arenot supposse to be liable for the income tax then why should some working for the post office? that also means no tax on earnings from interest, stocks and what about non americans making money living here? should they have to pay an income tax? Bush is giving out $600 in tax money to stimulate the economy. I just finished my tax return and Ron Paul's plan would give me $7336.00 to stimulate the economy. Do you suppose that no one else is pushing Ron Paul's plan because they are afraid of over stimulating the economy? I would guess it is probably more that they don't want to relinguish their power over us.

I'm not sure who MarkDouglasC's comment was to or who he thinks is being "blamed." His attitude seems to be that we cannot cut spending. Period. And anyone who thinks we can is deluded and unrealistic. If this is the case, then there truly is no hope, because that is like saying that ceasing to borrow more on your credit card than you can afford is "not realistic." If that is true, bankruptcy is inevitable for you -- as it is for our nation if we cannot change our ways. And soon.

Ron Paul is not into conspiracies. Where did you get that? If you are referring to a North American Union, there really has been a common currency proposed, called the Amero. It was proposed by the Fraser Institute in Canada. There really are plans for a freeway between Mexico and Canada. The Texas legislature voted to oppose it. These are not fantasies. It's exactly how the European Union started decades ago.

Mark -- Mike Huckabee's plan is a replacement of the income tax with another tax.......which would entail an organization to collect it. Ron Paul is the only candidate who is saying that we should eliminate the income tax and replace it with nothing. I agree with you about the Fair Tax. Spending could be cut rather easily if we are willing to bring our troops home from around the world. One also needs to take into account the growth in the economy that would occur due to lower taxes and a readjustment of our military. There are many agencies which would be eliminated. The hard part is getting the members of Congress to do what is necessary. I think we cannot afford NOT to cut spending as deeply as Ron Paul is suggesting.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who realizes that the "solutions" to the current economic situation being proposed by the president, Congress and other presidential candidates all entail doing mmore of what created the problem in the first place, namely, low interest rates and deficit spending. This stimulus package which sends out checks to Americans is really not a gift from the govenemnt but a loan from our grandkids.

Your income tax goes to the federal reserve to pay back the interest on the money the government borrowed from them. Before the federal reserve, our treasury printed the money interest free, which they can do again. If you stopped the nation building and dismantled 1/16 of our nuke program, we would have a surplus of money.

I understand the reduction in government spending in terms of unnecessary services; but what about police officers, firefighters, public playgrounds, the coast guard, hell even the military protecting all of us? The money spent on the Iraq war alone probably could have supported all of our necessary services such as firefighters and police well into the years to follow.
In my state, the current gasoline tax is around 42 cents a gallon. Income tax is 25%, sales tax is rising, and I get nickeled and dimed for everything I earn. I would rather go without police and firefighters than be a slave for my government

A very effective idea is to NOT watch TV or buy news papers. We all know the fedrl rerv/media moguls are the "same criminal bunch" my suggestion is dont watch TV or buy national news papers. watch rentals or buy movies. People think this will do no good but when the the ratings drop drastically, pretty soon old man murdock will be having to fund his own stations, How will that NOT bother him? By implementing a sensible foreign policy of nonintervention and bringing our troops home from around the world, we can cut spending to where we can eliminate the income tax. The president DOES have the power to bring the troops home. He can also veto bills, not appoint cabinet chairs for certain agencies, and other tactics. But his election, especially if it is by a large margin, would provide a mandate. It can be done.

You are correct, Ron Paul says "we" can do it. The Executive branch cannot do this. It must be the majority vote of Congress. YOU must tell your representatives how YOU want them to vote. Repealing the 16th Amendment will be a challenge. First we must reduce Fed spending to the levels of a decade ago. We can cut by half the $628 Billion/year military expenditures...that's a start. Cutting Federal departments is another savings.

Don't let that article sway you. The writer of the article left out some very important info Paul said. As far as the civil war, Paul said instead of going to war where 600K were killed, the govt should have bought the slaves and set them free like they did in other countries, and none of the countries that did that entered into a war. As far as the number of soldiers, no one knows exactly how many soldiers are out of the country at any given time. If you read his facial expression, he didn't want to quote any number that couldn't be proven immediately. Everyone uses "estimates" when talking about the number of soldiers abroad. Tim Russert was wrong on his number anyway.

As far as the numbers and figures, Tim Russert was asking him so many different questions at once that Paul couldn't answer before he was being asked another question on a slightly different subject. The appearance was that Paul was not knowledgeable, but he is, and he does have a transitional plan to get the country out of this mess.

Tim Russert railroaded him and ignored Paul's answers to bulldoze the conversation in another direction. Make sure to watch the interview before taking an article's viewpoint to heart. Watch Ron Paul's face as he tries to mentally add up the number of soldiers in all the countries, but gets interrupted with another question. The interview was prepared to make Ron Paul look bad.

Regardless, Paul was right when he said we have more soldiers than we need stationed in other countries. Who really needs exact figures when the whole point is they ALL need to come home? Paul's message is the same whether he says an exact number or not. And by the way, he did say how much money the country would save, but Russert ignored that, too.

We should do away with direct taxation on citizens (income or otherwise) and return to levying fees and tariffs on foreign and interstate trade as provided for in the US constitution. Taxing a person's wage/salary as income is wrong and unethical as it is only a current fair market value exchange for his/her time, labor, and skills/talents and does not consist of true income/gain. To confiscate a person property without due process of law is unconstitutional. Income taxes fall under this.

He has been a congressman for decades and has far more experience in that regard than many other candidates, but I know what you mean about not coming off as a man running for President.
I also know that "not coming off right" is no reason not to vote for a man whose ideas (end the IRS, abolish the federal reserve, adopt noninterventionism, etc.) will bring so much more prosperity to this country than ever before and whose integrity is remarkable, let alone when compared to the rest.

No, but it's a common misunderstanding. As his campaign spokesman has said, Ron Paul is going to use any money donated by these men to spread his message of freedom, peace and prosperity. If they think they can influence him in any way by donating, they're wasting their money. But now that's just that much less money they have spend on their causes. What's wrong with that?

Roads are paid for by gas tax (44 cents a gallon). Schools are paid for by property tax (which is a state tax). A lot of the federal spending is for the war and the countless agency's that waste billions of dollars. Social security was 28bill in the hole in 1964, it was started not to help old people but to but be another general tax for the federal Gov. The 28bill as well as at the money SC had collected was spent on general federal Gov. expense.

Buddha, The income tax is used to pay back, with interest, the money we borrow from a private bank known as the Federal Reserve. There would be no national debt if we didn't borrow. So, instead of borrowing, Ron Paul suggests we make our own money. You see, the government doesn't make the money anymore ever since the Federal Reserve was established in 1913. The bigger question is, how can we AFFORD the IRS and the Federal Reserve? We became a world power without it - not with it.

Perhaps you should get a little more informed. Next time you go to the gas pump understand that 50 cents to 1 dollar of the total price is going to taxes - this tax pays for the roads not income tax. If you own a house and have paid attention to where the property tax money goes you will know that this is how schools are funded.

The federal income tax does NOT fund schooling; that is funded via local property taxes. The Dept of Education is just another layer of bureaucracy -- schools need teachers, NOT bureaucrats!

Roads,parks,etc. are all funded by indirect taxes, such as cigarette tax, alcohol tax.
they are not funded by the income tax, which is a direct tax. So we will still have roads and such without income tax. Do your research on this.

Eliminating the income tax would still leave the government with as much revenue as it had less than a decade ago, AS YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD FROM THE AD. We had "roads, schools, and other things funded by the government" ten years ago. Problem solved!

Roads are paid almost totally with transportation excise taxes, gas taxes, and tolls.
Police officers are paid for (mostly) with state income taxes and property taxes.
Same with firefighters.

Federal roads, if not already tolled and owned by foreign countries, will be paid for by state government/other taxes. If nothing is to be done about inflation, Social Security will the last of what we should worry about. What good is sending out millions if it is worthless. The Space program? federal roads ... sell them they should be tolled anyway or owned by the state. Federal pensions, 2 categories, government pensions should be managed properly by a third party, like any other employer. social security should be abolished and money raised from selling assets should pay for those currently on it. military defense should be rethought and supported and space program SHOULD NOT be managed by the government, that is theft, it should be privatized.
