FL Studio Tips - Finding and changing tempo of a sample or loop

not working for me. When I export to wav file, then drag the second one into FL Studio, it stretches both of the sounds, instead of just one of them. [Go here to see what you did; that I can't do ( 4:13 )]

@DjFrexira its either the sample is too long it can only do a max of 12 bars or you havn't checked the save acidized box..

Must use the playlist's "fit to beat" option for this to work. Just L-click the little triangle at the top left of the sample strip and set.

I mean the wav sample on the playlist (that stretches or not with the tempo in the video).

You must change the sample's playback properties to "fit to beat". The sample properties are set by left-clicking the the little triangle at the top left of the sample on the playlist. hope this helps.

i would like to know, how can i edit MIDIs to fit a tempo i want!

i mean, i have one at 70 bpm, would like to fit it at 130 bmp, bt the prob is that, the midi i have would play way faster, but i need them to stretch and fit the 130 bpm!

@VishantR22 I dont really work with midi files but I dont think what you want to do is possible sorry...as far as i know midi files will speed up with the tempo change

@lildukeman yup if you load a sample into a channel you can just hit different keys on the piano roll to play it in different notes

Okay so I had the same problem that @obpQCmtl had ( with the whole changing the tempo one click at a time thing) but when I saved my sample, it only saved like the first ten seconds of it. Did I do something wrong?

I've done what you did, but when i insert the wav file i just created and try to change the tempo, the number on top changes, but the tempo of the file does not. Do you know why that is?

ok thx guys, i appreciate, and last question, i still a newbie, lol but if i got like 3 samples that i wanna make my beat with, like the sample for intro, chorus, verse, do i need to do this (your tutorial) for each seperatly or i can make it all at the same times ?, cause, i tried and when i make my second one, i export, etc, and when i put it in my playlist, it is just a line, and theres no sound...

@obpQCmtl u will have to do them seperately, ..if you get no sound just a line it usually means you have exported it on pattern instead of song

i can only change the tempo by one, each time its ask me if i really want to strech, its sucks cause my samples is 65tempo, and i need 80, so its asked me if i wanna strech the file and had to click yes 15 times, i dont think its normal ? what do i do wrong, i dont understrand

@obpQCmtl na thats not normal, just hold the left mouse down in the tempo window and drag up til u hit 80..

How did you make a desktop icon in your browser on the left? I exported the sample but then I have to open up edison again when I want to bring it back in, because my fl studio wont let me just drag it into a channel.

@TheSandyCooch hmm weird, u should be able to just drag it in.. but to add a location such s "desktop" to the FL browser do this: options/file settings/ then find the folder or you can just drag the folder from wherever strait to the browser...

I export it and load it to a sampler channel. its works but when the loop is repeat, its getting louder, and louder every time. Why is it?

@Zoliqa Instead of loading it in a sampler channel, just drag it straight to the playlist as an audio clip. Or if you do want it in a sampler channel, try right clicking the channel and make sure "cut itself" is checked so that it will cut off each time it loops. Hope that helps

@koastmaori that is what happens with samples...its just gonna pitch up n down, if the samples are a note then it should change the note but it will be faster or slower, if its a chord it doesnt really work, I dont much use ssamples for instruments, just drums.

@SvampskogenMusic it doesn't work on anything longer than 12 bars so you may have to chop the vocals into smaller segments, I would go 8 bars

@MilitantBeats just count them bro, like an imaginary metronome in your head or use the tap tempo to figure out 16 beats then cut it till it loops perfectly, its easy if theres drums but a bit harder if not

try exporting it to your desktop, you should see it there

open fl9, click options - file settings - click a folder icon - click desktop - click ok.

Desktop should now be in your browser.

If the rendered loop is blank it probably means you had it on pattern instead of song when you rendered it.
