I know it's sick, but ever thought of the fact that it was an old fox of their's that passed away? People get taxidermies for dead pets. My grandma did that for her dog. (it's really creepy though e.e) but still, if that's not the case, you're sick.

Firstly, dogs were never wild. Dogs are a product of selective selection by humans originating from wolves. Wolves are wild animals, dogs are a product of man selectively breeding wolves until they became docile and able to be kept as pets. Secondly, no one domesticates cows. Sometimes people domesticate little pot belly pigs but for the most part not a normal sized pig. We keep cows and pigs on a farm to be eaten later. We don't keep them in our living rooms.

I have a fox pelt, foxes are one of my favourite animals, & I work with living ones at the wildlife rehab centre (my work). I don't like the idea of hunting,but I see nothing wrong with keeping taxidermy. It's clean,it stays beautiful longer than meat or the actual animal would had it not died.

Also, mounting a fresh head on a pike is very different than the skill that goes into skinning and tanning the pelt, carving and preparing a form and putting the two together. Taxidermy is a hard art.

Here's a possible explanation for why they have a mounted fox head: it could be a previous pet that died, and they had it stuffed to memorialize it.

@Heylola2 People had Hunting trophies all over their houses 100 years ago. But since people just go to the supermarket and get their food there(do you actually know how much those animals suffer before they get to your plate?) they don't appreciate how much effort it was to have meat on your plate everyday 100 years ago.
They had them as Hunting trophies, but also to show respect to the animal they had to kill to have food.
