I have to say that clearly a lot of work has gone into designing this game and the textures are so detailed and the graphics are pretty good, yet I can easily point out several ways that the graphics could have easily been improved... When it starts, you can see on the shadow of the gun on the guy's back that it isn't made too a very high resolution. Also, the water effect reflecting on the wall is at a very low framerate.

I remeber when fanboy PC gamers were saying how the OS3 and all the current gen consoles would be "dated" a year after launch and would be shown up by high end gaming rigs. See, people who make games for console tease every last bit of power out of the hardware...a PC developer's answer is to make you get a new graphics card. So yes, £500 graphics cards are amazing...but you'll never see them at their best.

Indeed I shall, but if they last 7-10 years each....and developers are pulling out titles like Shadow of the Colossus (came out near the end of PS2's life span) which pushes the hardware to the extreme.....then that is total value for money. I still play my PS2 alongside PS3....I bought it in 2002! You can spend £300 on a graphics card but no dev team will tease every last drop of juice from it....they'll just expect you to upgrade.
