Here's a question... Do any of the studies between cell phones and brain cancer apply to cordless phones in your house? They have an antenna on them and communicate with the phone base, do they not?
Smart&Safe headphone conduct the sound from cell phone conversations and music through a hollow tube filled with air, without metal wires. This is scientifically proven to reduce the electromagnetic radiation reaching the user’s sensitive ear and brain area by up to 98%. These headphones are ultra stylish and are available at expressbuy123
This is my first time watching the skeptics guide to the galaxy and I have to say it kinda blows. The show sounds like a really dull Howard Stern episode and presents very few concrete facts, moreover it just speaks volumes on how easy it is for dull and dumbed down people to make shows that sound halfway intelligent.
There isn't testimony from one actual specialist though all the silly pictures are quite amusing. I was sent this link by someone who wanted me to inform myself on the issues and this is pure crap. Stupid pictures, dull jokes, and absolutely nothing stronger than an opinion or hearsay is presented within the entirety. What do I hate more than dumb people? Dumb people selling themselves as intelligent people. This is a really wack resource for information.
@TheSheepishChef Steven Novella is neurologyst so he IS THE SPECIALIST in BRAIN CANCER!!!. Also what he says is that there is no conclusive evidence to say that there is or there isn't correlation between brain cancer or any cancer and cell phone and more studies should be done. Learn to listening before make any coments
well people arent holding it to their head much anymore. I think soon people will just text. Interestingly i read in a math book that by 2020 all phones will be videophones
I don't know how old this propaganda is, but cell phones are deadly.
No real evidence he keeps saying? Oh my god, research how many statistics confirm 2 billion will die by 2020 brain cancer..
This guy should redeem himself and put up another more definitive truth-on-the-matter video, otherwise I feel sorry for him ranting in this way and you who believe it.
This reminds me of the 1950s 1960s where the were saying there was no link to cancer and smoking cigarettes. Cell phones for sure do cause cancer. I think in 50 years it will be as clear as smoking tobacco is today
I'm surprised something more fundamental wasn't pointed out. The type of radiation that causes cancer/tumors, isn't the type of radiation that comes from phones.
Worrying about a phone causing cancer is kind of like worrying about a microwave causing cancer, or your radio antenna, or your TV antenna. Wrong kind of radiation.
The French government has warned its citizens to reduce childrens telephone calls to no more than 6 minutes.
In Japan, it is now illegal to use a cell phone on a train, due to concerns of second hand radiation.
In Canada, the Toronto Public Health's chief medical officer has advised children use land lines, limit their time on cell phone calls, and use headsets.
Germany, Belgium, Israel, and India are also advising children limit their use of cell phones.
why don't you believe cell phones cause canser, there's a conspiracy in everything that's been proven reel, facebook spies on people, googles the same, Van Eck preaking can spy on CRT and lcd monitors, Reconaincense on the wire, to spy on people's internals LAns, media manipulation on the iraq war same for history channel which portraits america as the saviour of the world, Fluor in water, koolaid infiltrating children stomachs when is actually good for cleaning toilents and musg off walls. Wow this video was amazingly well done considering it wasn't really a video at all but rather a slideshow :D And weird, now I know what you guys look like. I had totally wrong mental images. LOL.
It was disclosed in the NYTimes last week that GlaxoSmithKline caused 83,000 diabetes patients to have heart attacks and/or strokes because they wanted to promote Avandia. ,, A 334 pg.report from the Senate Finance Comm. includes the same kind of emails, letters, trashing of well known and recognized experts in fields. The histories run along the same lines and lies.matching the cell phones , FDA is the overseeing agency (coupled with FCC in the cell phone case.) They don't care about you.
Reminds of the myth about cancer and high power lines. Turns out poorer people with bad diet, habits (smoking, drinking, etc) poor health, poor environment lived near power lines, obviously you have to take other factors into account.
is it idiocy because you don't believe it, or because the data doesn't point that way. He's talking about the data, maybe you should listen and research the data yourself.
Geez... I think the science was expressed properly.
In lieu of any scientific data that clearly expresses gross cellular damage by cell phone wavelengths we have to rely on population studies.
Some indicate small increases in tumour rates and some cant see the effect.
compare cell death that to the number of rude people who have been assaulted whilst using their phones in inappropriate places and the cancer death rate dissappears.
I like wearing stuff on one's belt, but I must admit when someone walks up to me with one of those head set things on their ear, the first thought that flashes is, "douche".
Sorry guys but today's celphones are way cooler & fashionable & functional than any Star Trek communicator. Ever seen a Star Trek communicator take a picture?
read the book cell phones: invisible hazards in the wireless age, by George Carlo. it talks all about how the wireless industry, when it accidentally (inconveniently) funds 'positive' research, seeks to suppress it and actually destroy data. there's a lot of profit in telecommunications and the last thing the industry wants is the buying, consuming public to think wireless doesn't equal safety and health. so the mixed literature might reflect the politics of ego and profit more than the truth.
All cells are subject. The three most vulnerable cell types are supposedly found in the brain, the eye and the reproductive system. True, they are the ones we notice first. Microwave kills the cell by heating it. Radio can do the same thing if there is enough intensity.
I'm a woman and I wear my cell phone on my hip, along with my keys, pocket knife and Leatherman. There is nothing dorky about it - practicality trumps "fashion".
@JorethInnkeeper not to point out the obvious sexism involved, but women that wear tools/electronics on their hip are super hot. But then, they mostly appeal to geeky guys that can't get a date.
On the bright side, you have a huge pool of guys to pick from!
@unclexbob I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with you here. All 3 of my long-term partners are "geeky", like my tool belt, are in high demand, & have no problems getting dates. They have more girls interested in them than they can handle. The sexism is bad enough, but generalizing smart "geeky" guys into dateless losers is really in poor form.
@JorethInnkeeper Sorry, I wasn't making anecdotal statements, I was generalizing about a group overall. But if you think geeks are actually the power houses in dating, then who am I to argue?
@unclexbob Apparently you missed it where I said "but generalizing smart 'geeky guys...". I'm aware you were generalizing and I said it was poor form. "Geeks" aren't "power houses in dating", they are a collection of people that come in all shapes, sizes, social abilities, interests, and intelligence levels. Your stereotypes in both directions are wrong and insulting.
I'm a fan of the podcat, but using images like this to illustrate every damn word is the wrong way to go, IMHO. It makes it less serious and redundant.
How can an electromagnetic field around your brain now harm it in some way? A lot of people are making cell phone cases out of orgonite to protect themselves from the radiation from the phones.
Hhaha! Love this... Although you're gonna go nuts trying to keep all the literal references up with the dialogue. I'm sure that took WAY more time that you really wanted it to! (And it's actually a little distracting from the dialogue, even though it's cute!)
Awesome. Keep up the great work Mike. Although not so focused on skeptical content, it'd be great to see the monkey/bird beak flip segment make it onto YouTube.
