Everytime i listen to The Gift of Fury, it is like it connects straight to my soul the center of who i am. The track will go down as a timeless classic. How we miss your genius Basil.
@ayseal Wow! Thanks for this information. I assumed it was gibberish or some made-up language ('Atlantean'). I now assume that these lyrics were composed by Basil, and are not some older work borrowed for the movie. Is that correct?
I had done a lot of research regarding the lyrics and I understand that Milius wanted to use sections of Orff's choral cycle Carmina Burana but later on he changed his mind and Poledouris himself wrote the lyrics for the choral passages in English and they were then translated into Latin. So they're not borrowed from any older work.
Incredible to see this! This soundtrack is dear to my soul, and seeing this was a very special treat indeed! Basil lives on in all the hearts he touched with his music!
"That is music, boy! That is power! What is the computer compared to the hand that wields a real musical instrument?" Listening to this track I feel ashamed of the music we do in 2011 - potty computer sounds arranged using the less possible talent and musical labor...
He is not only on par with John Williams and Ennio Morricone but he is easily on par with some of the best in music history like Wagner, Brahms, Mozart, you name it! He made music the good old way of instrumental and vocals (choir) in a symphony that not only sounds powerful but evokes a feeling inside that nowadays is very rare to find!
He is a genius of a forgotten time and makes, ... sorry made better music then all of this rock and pop culture today together!
Thank you, thank you for sharing this! Words can't describe the epic brilliance of this movie score. This one's for the ages. A timeless classic indeed
One of the greatest scores ever written. Basil was underrated as a film composer. You gotta love those parrallel fifths with the low brass when Thorgrin takes off his helmet.
Damn, this music is so fucking POWERFUL!!! Basil sure wasn't messin' around when he wrote that Conan score. Will definitely go down as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, if not all time...
@PeekaPeep It is a source of inspiration alright. Unlike to the crap I hear 24/7 every time I stick the radio on. No wonder kids are so ignorant and thick.
the movie wouldn't have been half as good without this score. The score in and of itself tells a story, maybe more so than the film itself. This is music that will forever be in my blood and no one can ever take that away.
The orchestra of Rome who played for the film at the time interpreted far better than ANY other orchestras I've heard playing the same pieces by Poledouris: more depth, more vibrant . Well at least Poledouris himself is seen in the action and that's great!!! Hail! A crime they didn't make him compose other Conan OST after the 1st two films...the 3rd Conan (reboot) isn't even ready yet and he's long dead since: what a WASTE!
Maravilloso. Alguien de los que cantaron en el coro podrían escribir la letra de "Gift of Fury"? Son unas 6 frases solamente pero no las logro entender y lo que he encontrado en internet es incorrecto. Muchas gracias.
The singing part to The Gift of Fury does not sound true to Mr. Poledoris work but maybe it wasnt suppose to but i still would have like to have been there Thank you norrim2000...Hello dansofsydney

Ecce nunc dies Patris
Behold, now is the day of the Father.
Ecce nunc dies Matris
Behold, now is the day of the Mother.

Regnat nos, salvat vos.
He rules us, he saves you.
