Pathetic. This clown needs to go back to high school. Your answers can be found by studying the subjects. Those that have not can be found by people conducting reseaerch, including yourself. By the way how do you prove your gods. What is the cause that caused god, and who caused that? a grand daddy god? So you see why we think you are stupid? Give us evidence. Period. if you dont have any say so.
i really didn't like how you started your video, acting like a victim
I'm not sure why you regard life as being more special than non-life
there might be some god like creature doing all this. but then you have to explain where god came from and there you have whats known as an infinite regress which is a logical fallacy. if you've arrived at a fallacious conclusion you then must stop using that as an argument if intellectual honesty is something that you value.
Change over time is not in question, rather the origin of information. The effects of intelligence as well as the existence of human intelligence has not been proven to be result of mindlessness.
Similarily, one can demand answers for how God existed in the first place if your approach is 'everyone must have been created'...,however, science has proven the bible to be false several times therefore the foundation of that theory loses its credibility,, we can't fill scientific gaps and questions with an unreliable theory that's based on nothing but history
I guess you just can't rap your head around the idea that just because some questions are unanswered doesn't mean god exists. It doesn't mean anything more than we just do not know yet. And until we do we don't pretend to have a supernatural catch all answer. Simple as that...
No wonder you find that scientists are condescending to you. You are worthy of condescension! You assert so many things that are simply incorrect. Take a course or too in molecular biology! Read some books on evolution. The things you say are unanswered are fully answered! You simply don't know what you're talking about and your credibility is ZERO.
Not to long ago atheists / scientists used to say that seeing is believing; that God, if cannot be seen it cannot be real.. Today science is worse; nothing more than a fairytale. They just create universes like flushing the toilet.. If the math does not come up with 10 (like in strings theory) let's get drunk and create 11 and invent the M theory.. Sounds so exotic for a bunch of idiotic thoughts. The imbeciles saying that M is the answer, never looked into equations ..Just kids enjoying youtube
what are you even talking about, I'm an athiest and I don't believe in evolution and I'm sure many other don't ether . Yeh I think people who believe in god are lunatics but they are completely normal and I respect them no matter what they believe in. But the basic reason I don't like the idea of religion is because it separates people just like race and culture, thought religious people get so stubborn that no matter what comes along they will not let go of it. if god cme to earth i will believ
@loganVt Thank you for sincerely sharing your thoughts. You are a pragmatic and I respect that. I am also a pragmatic but for me, refusal means not believing in things like playing with universes as with numbers.. But one thing continue to amaze me. Science today is all about finding evidence against God. Thats it. M theory is the ultimate invention. For such a well payed industry scientists should have came with far more better answers. To bad that science became nothing more than a business..
Your questions are "off the table" because of the issue of credibility.
If I want to know about astronomy, I ask an astronomer. If I want to know about biology, I go to a biologist. These are people who have earned the right to speak about their field.
You are an arrogant man. This is the problem with religion nowadays- anybody with a mouth on them can get up in front of people (some which blindly trust them) and spew misinformation, confusion, and fear. Get some humility.
@TheGracewithmace Sincerely I admire this guy.. The one who speaks obviously. He knew that he will be heavily blasted for just saying the 3 letter word: God. But the way people throw ugly words and thoughts against, says everything about how "beautiful and honest" are the new trends in science. Why you are an atheist then? I thought you are against religion.. Even so.. you should know that religion is not equal with God and Bible just describe the nature in words like science in numbers..
@nexenta I never said I was an athiest. I'm just someone who was raised by a Christian fundamentalist, and am still trying to recover. I'm pissed off because I'm pretty much sure this guy doesn't want to have a "philosophical discussion". He wants to defend a tradition of thought that comes from the social club he belongs to, and likely his parents and grandparents belonged to. I don't think science has all the answers, but I also think religion kills brain cells.
God might be a valid proposal for the creation of our universe, but you seem to preach that that God is the Christian God, when in reality it could be anything, it doesn't even need to take a form. God is just a concept derived from observation of the world around you. If you were born in an isolated forest and your parents taught you that goblins and fairies created all this, now you would not be able to distinguish the God you believe in from those mystical creatures.
@GrifsRiffs The site is gotquestions . org and search for "What happens to those who have never heard about Jesus?". This site might change your view on the example you have provided. It def made me think because i never thought of what you said. Please feel free to let me know what you think no matter what it is. If it is another topic i do not know how to answer I will seek for one again! Good luck my friend!
I am shocked this guy dismisses fairies and goblins. Fairies and goblins are valid alternative explanations for the origins of matter, life, and morals. Fairies and goblins gave us all "the firsts". How dare he dismiss them?
Reflect7. Don't worry! One of the best counter examples of "evolution" is provided exactly from the people who cannot find good words to express himself. Don't bother to explain to monkeys nothing. Don't loose your time with primitives like this "people". I used to think like them but I "evolved". I believe in God now! Today's science provide SCIENTIFIC evidence about God. You just have to dare to open your mind. While Darwinism proved to be the most buggy theory in all the history of science.
How did you get to god? Show me a first god. First information of this higher power. Your trying to say that god was the first first of the first? I'm confused. Just because you want answers doesn't mean they could be explained in a way that you could understand. Nor that the answers even exist. You propose a god because why? Seriously. Why? What would be the purpose of a god? What would he/ she think is their purpose. Is this god immune to pondering it's own importance?
@jwil2570 Let me explain how it is.. I have the same feelings you have but relative to the universes that boomed the big bang.. aka M theory.. Got it?
This Randall sure knows how to use persuasive techniques. First start of by discrediting yourself in the sciences by revealing how unqualified you are. Secondly, go on to speak about quantum physics and evolution as if you were an expert. Well, perhaps if you had education, you might understand what the scientists are talking about. Perhaps also, you would learn how to write a good persuasive paper, even if your argument is laughable and lacks any reasoning. At least some idiots might buy it
The anthropic principle is logically sound, but not productive. And M-theory (quantum my ass. Don't diss quantum mechanics lol :p) is well... You do realize that the scientific "alternatives" you talk about are looked down upon as well in the scientific community right? With M-theory what we have now are hunches that maybe it might be possible to make a theory out of it someday. Also, do respect other religions than your own. Pastafarianism is an equally valid religion and alternative.
If you want to go past those "boundries", I would encourage you to have philosophical discussions with people who actually have a background in philosophy... You'd be surprised... Science uses what we are limited to in the best possible way. The rest you can talk about, but can't know with the same precision. But really, have those philosophical discussions. We need them!
About the origin of life: abiogenesis is reasonably unexplored, though complex organic molecules are surprisingly easy to form in a lab. As far as I know, consciousness, minds, moralities are explainable by natural selection and are pretty much determined by natural processes. We have a nerve system ya know :p. If you want to invoke quantum mechanics etc, do so. It changes nothing to existing expectation values :p
Now you wouldn't need DNA in the 1st place. RNA can be transcripted to DNA and mRNA can form proteins. Not all self-replicating cells need DNA. I'm not too familiar with abiogenesis, but from the courses I once took, I do remember that they think that the 1st living creatures had RNA only if I recall correctly.
Now, further in your video you're talking about the origin of the universe (spacetime, where you actually imply that general relativity is correct while we all know there's something fishy...) AND the first DNA. Now you might not know this, but the bible isn't 100% correct. In the bible, the universe and life are created almost simultaneously, but science has reveiled this to be false. The earth wasn't even there yet right after the big bang!
@TakesTwoToTango Can you possibly explain to me how Scientists know exactly that the Big Bang theory is 100% correct that the earth and all human life has all completely come from absolutely nothing but a Black HoleWell where exactly did the Black hole that held our whole universe come from? Can you answer that for me? Or can you tell me when the beginning was? No you can't because the Big Bang is a "Theory" and therefore cannot be proven. You're wrong in saying u revealed the bible to be false.
You can't prove with 100% certainty that anything your senses tell you is correct, so you can't say anything about anything and nothing is correct. The difference is that the mainstream scientific theories are the ones that best explain the observations... Also, the big bang theory doesn't say anything about black holes... You're just gruesomely wrong there... We've determined that the earth is 4.5 billion yo, the universe about 13 billion yo. Unless our senses ARE cheating on us, these numbers
(cont) are known with enough accuracy to not be within each other's error margin. So the biblical belief that life on earth and the universe got created at roughly the same time is not sound, unless indeed I must admit you are right and our senses cannot be trusted. We might indeed be hyperintelligent dreaming space giraffes... My point is, you're countering science by saying we can't know anything. That's NOT quite making a point for ur own case...
I've often asked creationists what a "kind" would be. The 2 most clear definitions I got were: 5 different possible definitions at 1ce, the 5th one being "anything else that is obviously a kind", the other one was "any group of animals of which common descent has been directly observed". I hope you can see the problem with the definitions? :s
About evolution: macro and micro apply to species, which is an imaginary boundry. Humans defined it, and there isn't a clear definition of it. There are several working definitions of the term, and therefore, several definitions of macro-evolution. The reason you're being accused of using a creationist term is that creationists have another definition: they define micro and macro to apply to "kinds". The latter having no definition at all.
I think you are more frustrated by your repressed homosexuality, and how that conflicts with your god, than you are with science. These shenanigans are but a pitiful attempt at distracting yourself.
1. Dont look for the first cell, look for the possible first selfreplicating molecule.
2. The multiverse theory is not equal to the spagetti monster or the God theory, Multiverse theory is a product of mathematics not of filosofy, one i sciense one is not, whether one or the other is true, that remains to be seen
3. If you find it unfair that God is equated with fairyes and goblins, then why dont you find some evidence that for your God theory ?
It's quite amazing that people still argue against evolution, to this day. Even when genetics gave it that 'in your face' insult.
Though what's less amazing is that Americans are at the forefront of the argument. I'm all for people questioning something out of ignorance, or because they actually have evidence to question it. But it's neither out of ignorance nor through evidence, but personal incredulity.
Don't answer my question, answer this other question - ah I see you're answering that question but what about THIS question? I notice you're not answering that one so I win.
That is the standard operating procedure of both the religious and the conspiracy theorist. They have a lot in common, the main difference being that the religious tend to have higher production values and straighter, whiter teeth.
You think ''out of the box'' and science is boundary ? Sicence is about braking boundaries while your version installs them firmly and permanent. Not geting answers doesn't mean we have to belive in pink unicorns / abrahamic religions....which are obviously man made miths passed on in most credible-oral fashion from superstitious desert nomads. Those explenations you don\t except are not presented as facts, allthough they all make much more sence to questions which maybe we'll never know.
Have you considered the absurdity of your listing Galileo as support for the statement "the conflict between God and Science is not historical"? A well-read 6th grader would know better.
Incidentally, this also answers your question of why people feel you need some additional education before you attempt to instruct others. Maybe, if you could juggle, it would be different, but there just isn't any value to yet another boring presentation of uninformed opinion cluttering up the Internet.
If you want answer to those questions about the first life or first "one" then research "Abiogenesis". After you have the first life, then evolution comes into play, but to know what's going on before evolution comes into play, research abiogenesis,
Modern physics has shown that philosophy is not a good way of knowing reality, biology does the same to the claim that religion knows where we came from.
Also, you don't need DNA for self-replication - some complex organic chemistry is known to self-replicate. Science doesnt know the exact pathway from chemistry to DNA (yet), but absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. BTW, "organic" in chemistry doesn't refer to "living" - it's the name of the branch of chemistry concerned with carbon-based molecules - and it is EXTREMELY complex. It's not surprising we dont have all the answers!
"Since the COBE satellite and Hubble telescope observations of the 1990s, atheistic and agnostic scientists like Hawking, Turner and Frenk are reconsidering the existence of God like never before."
Hawking is a pantheist like Einstein or Sagan. When they talk about "God", they aren't using it in a theistic sense - it's more a synonym for "mother nature" (for example). They don't mean a personal, anthropomorphic, interactive, creator God such as the one of the Judeo-Christian faith.
Its not a problem of talking about the origins of life or the Universe (which has nothing to do with the Theory of Evolution). I think most rational people will see that, I love talking about those sort of things. Its harder to argue scientifically about the origins of life because its a newer research area and there are still many, many hypotheses on the subject. But where I get frustrated and annoyed is when those whom don't understand what they argue against, i.e. Evolution or abiogenesis.
500 years ago, you would be asking the same type of questions on different subjects...why does the ground shake beneath me sometimes? Why do the clouds roar and flash light? Why does the earth spew forth fire? Why do people suddenly die, yet no one has wounded them? Science has filled those gaps nicely in time with plate tectonics, climatology and germ theory. It may one day answer the questions you have, but even if they never do, it's a long way from a creator to the Abrahamic god.
wow! i can't believe people don't believe that there's something greater! Amen Brother your not the only one that believes in this Theory! I totally understand what you mean by thinking out the Box! If we never thought out the box we would have any of the stuff we have today! :D GOD is something smaller then small and something Great Then great. these people dont believe it cause there afraid. GOD is Real HE speaks with in us all through out the universe! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!-William Rojas 19
Even if we had no ideas about the origins of life and it was a complete knowledge vacuum, it doesn't mean there is not a natural explanation. It is also a blatant fallacy to then imply that your supernatural explanation is therefore a more promising one simply because we lack a complete knowledge of the origins of life and the universe.
The box is "idiocy", step outside it and your an idiot. And the "Boundary" you are talking about is called ... eh evidence. Thats why Science stops short of the full answer - it needs verifiable evidence - from multiple sources. I would personally be thrilled if this guy didn't evolve past the blonde monkey I see here. Huray for me and my family
If you actually are curious to proposed answers to some of these questions, the ones that have to do with living organisms, Cdk007 does some very good videos (in his 'origins' playlist). Of course if you want more in depth information you won't find it on youtube.
BTW the FSM argument is meant to show that what you are arguing for is deism not theism i.e. if you want to assign supernatural answers to the questions you propose, any god will fill that gap.
classic he keeps changing what hes asking as soon as you answer is first question. To answer you main question of the vid the wall you are trying to jump over is the wall of what we know and can test for.
@kokofan50 I was thinking the same thing. The point of research, is to push back those 'hedges', not jump over them. Jumping can quickly become fringe - string theory i.e. - scientists and researchers must push back those boundaries one step at a time. Hypothesis, testing the hypothesis, corroborative evidence, peer review, replication of results, finding a mechanism and testing it, developing and supporting/eliminating theories, etc. are the steps that must be taken.
@ctressle If any or too many of those steps are not taken, we risk not only jumping over the wall but jumping too far - there are too many possibilities, far be any of them from being any gods, that we won't be able to eliminate.
... you do realize the possibility of finding any definitive evidence of which you're talking about is near impossible. "Fossilized" cells would be hardly any more noticeable than a spec of sand.
Furthermore... you can bring up god in science but it defeats the purpose greatly. "Hey bob how'd the sun get made." "God did it." Ok another answer solved!. Science is a process that doesn't fabricate answers (or at least shouldn't) to appease people. As such we continue to study and evaluate things.
"The origin of first information [the creation of DNA], which all scientists now declare is impossible, if not improbable to the highest degree" - Randall Niles, speaking on the origin of DNA.
This, sadly for you sir, is most definitely not the case. You need only pick up a book, on science, and have a read for yourself. Even, for example, a book written by a travel writer "A Short History of Nearly Everything", a sort of, "the origins of the universe for dummies" will set you right. Try it.
Randal Niles, I have one word for you and it's not "evolution" it's "abiogenesis". That's what you want to go to for answers to your question of "fist life". It's not that it's off the table, it's not that they're not dealing with it, it's that evolution doesn't deal with that. Expecting evolution to provide an answer for something that is dealt with by another field entirely and not getting an answer doesn't mean the answer doesn't exist.
If everything that is complex or intelligent requires a creator then who created god? That's why proposing god as an alternative theory actually doesn't solve the problem of where inntelligence or complexity comes from at all. And if you exempt god from the requirement then you are asking for special pleading, a fallacy.
You know why science isnt answering these questions? Most scientists regard your hypothesis as retarded and pointless. Science busies itself with answering the questions of the here and now with the given technology and understanding we have. What you want is an answer to the biggest questions known to man which sadly at this point in time are simply unanswerable. But your assertion that it was all made with magic is not even worthy of a response. Spaghetti monster is right.
Even if the answers were presented to you, your "faith" would prevent you from accepting them. BTW... If you believe in god, what prevents you from believing in fairies and goblins? Maybe THEY created everything we see around us!
What I don't get is why they argue against working theories and hypotheses about evolution and abiogenesis as if when those theories are disproven thatll mean that God did it. All the questions this guy has about the origins of this, that, etc, the answer is *We Don't Know.* How do they not see that God did it is a way to stop thinking? And what scientist has said that science isnt dealing with those things right now? I've heard of studies for all the examples he listed.
YOU CAN TALK ABOUT IT JUST KNOW WTF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH SINCE IT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO RUN YOUR LIPS ABOUT SCIENCE, BELITTLING THE UMPTEEN YEARS OF RESEARCH THAT SCIENTIST DO
Why do people like you always refer back to, "...What about first matter and energy...?" How do you go from this question to assertions like, virgins giving birth, dead men walking and other magical stories? I'm not asserting "truth" for "First matter and energy" until the overwhelming, unambiguous evidence renders itself that level of status. But you are asserting absolute truth for things never observed. Poor logic is your strong suit!
So your saying god did it. You might as well believe in fairies. You are beyond stupid.
Can't god exist for you without the magic show? Without the miracles? Is your faith that weak? That if I don't believe what you say. Does it somehow weaken your beliefs? Are you that insecure? Would an all powerful, all knowing god care if you believed in him. I think if there is a god he'd be above that kind of petty insecurity. You really don't give god much credit do you.
Give me a break. You are not a real scientist. I am not a scientist and I know tremendously more than you in every one of the topics you raised.
A real scientist should know what they do not know, and should be able to ask far superior questions that one pseudo-questions you are supposedly posing.
speculation is perfectly fine. saying "god did it" is speculation and not science. invoking a multi-verse is also speculation and not science. you're not a stupid guy, but your speculation is no more valid than anyone else's.
*sigh* Evolution describes the diversity of life not the origin. You are confused and frustrated because people don't take you seriously. This is because you fail to understand even the basics of the subject you are arguing against
You believe in fairys and goblins because there is equal evidence for them as there is for God
What is the difference between the observed rate of speciation and the observed rate of extinction? And is the agonizingly slow process of speciation able to take place fast enough to keep up with the dramatically rapid rate of extinctions? Can life overcome entropy through evolution?
@callingheyzeus hello creationist pseudo-science wishful thinker. Before you challenge me into falling for the trap of "you're not an evolution expert so don't criticise this guy"... I am not an evolutionary biologist, you can find one at a University so go them that question if you truly want to know. However I do understand the basics of evolution unlike the man in this video who is arguing the case for ID through complete ignorance
@mythinktube I found about 50 documented cases of speciation events that have ever been recorded (depending on how loose the definition of species). Most of them are in the plant kingdom. There are about 10 million species alive today. The current extinction rate "estimate" is about 27,000 species a year (370 yrs to end of all life). In the geologic past perhaps we could say 100 extinctions per year (100,000yrs to end of all life). Wishful thinking is the only thing we have left.
There has been absolutely 0% evidence to back even the simplest notion of evolution (change from one species to an entirely different species).
One of the problems you run into with using "evolution" to 'describe the diversity of life' is that DNA does not create new strands when passed from parent to child, in any biological chain.
Instead, you get differences within species which come from a LOSS of information.
@rilo154 "One of the problems you run into with using "evolution" to 'describe the diversity of life' is that DNA does not create new strands when passed from parent to child, in any biological chain.
Instead, you get differences within species which come from a LOSS of information."
Please get a grip on the concept of a mutation. Then read up on evolutionary algorithms and how they a) correspond to random search/gradient descent and b) Have a solid mathematical foundation.
@rilo154 "Instead, you get differences within species which come from a LOSS of information."
That claim really is utterly nonsensical anyway. How indoctrinated/stupid a person has to be to not realize that any change that happens, which happens to have a reproductive advantage, can not possibly be regarded as loss of information is simply unfathomable. Such an event necessarily implies that the new replicator encodes behaviors that are objectively better suited to reproductive success.
@rilo154 To call this a "loss of information" is quite simply to not grasp what "information" is. Of course, there are also experiments of scientists introducing selective damage to genomes of bacteria, then letting them replicate over generations and reconstruct the original genome. Not that this is a necessary consequence(it would happen only because the damage was to a highly useful trait), but it is a practical refutation that the idea that "loss of information" is even remotely coherent.
@rilo154 None of this is surprising to people who actually understand what's going on though. Kudos to the scientists who took the time to produce such practical demonstrations, but it really follows with mathematical necessity and has been demonstrated on a daily basis outside of biology since the first genetic algorithm was implemented.
Clowns like you have to hold that an AI that's evolved from inert behavior has "lost information" when it becomes capable of avoiding obstacles for example.
What exactly is a "kind"? This is not a biologically scientific term, and it's not actually defined in the bible.
is it a species? Because speciation (the development of a brand new species) has been OBSERVED numerous times, so that would be one "kind" turning into another "kind".
Or is it something else?
If you're going to talk about the real world, please be specific and accurate - no fuzzy wuzzy terminology pls.
Its not that you don't have the right. Its that you don't know what you are talking about.
If you bastardise reason and science to try and suit your ends you should be able to predict that yes, people are going to get annoyed. Because dishonesty annoys people. You have a very sweet deal in treating backlash as vindication and being dishonest to such an extent that you promote a backlash.
So basically you're saying why can't we just guess? You can, but science concerns itself with people that want to know things. Anyone can guess and everyone's guess is just as important as every other person's guess. I'm sure your guess will provide you long-term comfort.
yeah hi everybody um I not really a science guy but I just wanna say this to all the people who commented on this page, WHO GIVES A FUCK IF ONE THING IS LOGICAL OR THE OTHER IS NOT, WE ALL END UP IN THE SAME POINT NO MATTER WHAT OUR THEORIES ARE. 6 FEET IN THE GROUND!
Actually, you stated the problem quite clearly at the end, but didn't answer the question: How is the belief in Yahweh any different than the belief in Zeus, fairies, etc.? The fact that you missed that the FSM isn't a god, but a parody of a god, and therefore no one expects you to believe in it, is pretty much a self-refutation of your own point of view.
Sunday is the holy day to worship the Christian sun god, Jesus Christ. Christian tradition in general, represent motifs from older astrotheology and solar mythology, specifically reflecting legends and myths regarding the sun gods of antiquity.
Just beause you bring up god doesn't mean you believe in mythical creatures, but in a way it would actually be easier to prove mythical creatures are real. Did unicorns exist? Maybe they branched off of horses and flew into another galaxy...prove me wrong. There is a ten foot tall bird on your left shoulder...prove me wrong. That's why i want to know the science behind the origin of life and not your man made theology.
lol there's nothing wrong with not knowing. What if an atheist asked you something about God you could never know, and claimed your inability to answer meant God isn't there?
It doesn't matter that science doesn't have all the answers. If science had all the answers, science wouldn't be.
It's not like religion offers anything besides an unsupported assumption about where space came from; saying that you don't know is the only intellectually honest answer.
if you are retarded enough to be unable to understand what he was talking about, then you should, at least not show how stupid you are. he clearly said, he doesn't really care about how true is Evolution, he said, there must be a fucking start to everything, and that start, didn't happen by chance, as all scientific facts proves it, there is no such thing as, "it just happened", everything happens for a reason, everything has a cause.
So you`re saying Evolution is wrong because it doesn`t talk of Abiogenesis? Seriously, YOU SHOULD stay in the box because you make yourself look ridiculous otherwise.
the vast majority of those "first question" you asked are addressed by "cdk007" I have put playlist with some of his videos... and by the way... good luck with those fairies and goblins....
LOL Cosmology is not Evolution dumbass. Another sun worshiping fool trying to figure out evolution without taking the time to learn it. There are explanations of how the first cell came into existence that can be reproduced in the laboratory. He does not know this because he did not taken the time learn about evolution.
This person has a motive to perpetuate the myth of religion. He is a fraud and a lethargic liar.
Furthermore, why would God create the universe so that 99% of the time everything operated according to natural law but just a few certain things require the assistance of supernatural magic and divine hocus pocus? Was God not intelligent enough to create a natural universe that was fully functional? A universe that needs a God is flawed and therefor refutes God. It is never appropriate to answer a question with a concept that is itself ineffable.
If you really wanted to know the answers to these questions you would be working in science trying to find them. Explaining one thing with something like God which by fiat cannot itself be explained explains nothing. There is a slim chance that God just might be the correct answer but as soon as we assume that God is the answer we remove all motivation to continue looking. If we had accepted that answer for speciation then we never would have discovered genetics. God is a science stopper.
@IamTruth21 Flawed human intuition told us that bigger rocks fall faster than smaller rocks and that the earth was flat. It was the scientific method that corrected these errors. The Bible says that pi=3 and that it's a sin to wear mixed fibers. How could the Bible get the value of pi so wrong when others had calculated it hundreds of years before the Bible was written. It seems "God's chosen people" were much better at genocide and stoning rape victims to death than arithmatic.
Your deceived. To believe the Old Testament Law literally is to believe that this was the covenant God made with the ancient nation of Israel; a set of instructions for running their nation. To believe the New Testament literally along with the Old is to believe that when we were joined to Christ, we died with Him and were raised with Him, causing us to be released from the Law.
So 3 is metaphorically equivalent to pi? That is some grade A B.S. right there. How are we supposed to know what is metaphorical and what is literal? You can find a more accurate and realistic world view in Dr. Seuss.
You miss calculated on PI To start with, the 1 Kings 7:23-26 verse is describing a fairly large bowl about 8 feet 4 inches tall sitting on top of some other fairly large items. The bowl is described
initially by 3 measurements, 2 of which at first glance seem to be redundant. A 4th dimension is also given
a couple of verses later and this one people often ignore while instead only focusing on 2 of the 4 given dimensions.
Once the calculations are made the Bible does say that PI=3.14
Do you ever stop to think about the consequenses of your belief? How many children have been denied adequate science education based on mythological literalism? How many gay people alienated from their families and from society? How many suffering people in Africa have been told that it is better to spread HIV than to wear a condom? How many sick people have conned out of their money by faith healers? How many children have suffered genital mutilation? These superstitions have consequenses.
I could never endorse a book which is so morally and intellectually bankrupt as the Bible. Christians today are nothing more than a pack of snake oil salesmen, Pharisees, and witchdoctors. Scientists believe that universal truth is written into the very fabric of all of nature and reality for us to investigate. Christians think that all of universal truth is somehow fossilized into the bronze age ramblings of murderous and nomadic desert tribesmen. Which of those scenarios sounds more likely?
One lie after another. I think your missing a 6 at the end of your user name.
Just rememer, God will always leave the door open for you. He loves YOU, and died for YOU. I hope further investigating will lead you to the same conclusion as me as well as, Albert Einstein, Galileo, Sir Francis Bacon, Nikoli Tesla, and Isaac Newton.
Galileo lived the last ten years of his life under house arrest for saying that the Bible was wrong and that the earth actually does move. Einstein said, "I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it". Newton also believed in astrology does that give credebility to that?
I see no reason to disagree with Spinoza's or Einstein's version of God. The universe is a remarkable and a perfect thing. But to draw from that the conclusion that there is an invisible man who is responsible somehow for the atrocities and intellectual abortions of the Bible is ridiculous. I have dedicated my life to searching for the way, the truth and the life of this world. So far that search in every avenue has only led away from religion. Truth is written in nature, not in scripture.
LOL are you fucking kidding me? The bible says that PI=3.14? What a crock of shit. Did you know if you play the Bettes song Helter Skelter backwards you get a personal message from the devil? LOL what an amazing demonstration of ignorance you are. My god how do you walk and breath at the same time? Do you even have a brain?
Yes you are right science makes mistakes. Every time that science said hay we learned something new religion tried to suppress that knowledge. The difference is that science says it made a mistake and corrects that mistake but you keep your magical book of spells you call the bible as is without ever questioning it. What a dumbass.
God = Jesus Christ = Sun = Sun Worshiping Fools = 2 Billion Christian Fools + 1 Moron Known as IamTruth21
You know that God is real, and you cant stand it because you want to be God of your own life. Your living proof that ignorance is bliss. Your obviously no math major either if you cant figure out that the bible says pi=3.14. You wouldnt acknowledge Gods existence if he slapped you in the face. You are the fool.
If I wanted to believe in your magic man that lives in the sky all I would have to do is believe, so your statement is not only asinine but reflects your irrational logic.
You know there is no god but you are afraid to admit it. That is why you look for science in your book of magic spells. All you will find there are incoherent verses about unicorns and dragons but no science. You are defending a myth.
God = Jesus Christ = Sun = Sun Worship = 2 Billion Christian Fools
LOL What kind of name is that for a Christian? Takes away from your no sex rule doesnt it?
Wow 5 sentences and 5 wrong conclusions. 1st I do not hate Christians I hate religion, there is a difference. 2nd People like me do not strengthen your faith, we strengthen your resolve to cling to the crutch you call god. 3rd You have never thought like I do. 4th you cannot love me, you do not know me. 5th I came here for the fight not for a sun worship.
LOL since when does 4 = 5? Sex is viewed as a beautful thing for Christians! We are told to engage in it, however there are rules. We aren't supposed to go around and hump everything that moves, with which the atheistic view sees nothing wrong with. Actually you really do strengthen my faith. I see my old self in your proud, hostile, and biased posts. By your posts, I can get an idea of what you are like...and yes i still love you, just like Christ does:)
OMG, morality is a norm, use the dictionary. Society sets the norms and religion adds on to the norms for control purposes. LOL you do not need a god to know that unprotected sex leads to Aids. However Pope Benedict Arnold XVI went to Africa, the worst case of Aids in the world, and tells the people if they use condoms they will go to hell. Yea now that is some morality for you.
@IamTruth21 It was actually the church who threw Galileo (you know, one of them evil scientist type people) in prison for claiming the earth is not flat.
The bible is right is it? So slavery is perfectly ok then yes? Colossians 4:1
Do you agree with the bible that disobedient children should be stoned to death? Deuteronomy 21:18-21
@mythinktube It was actually the church who threw Galileo (you know, one of them evil scientist type people) in prison for claiming the earth is not flat.
Galileo was heliocentric theory, not round earth. The earth was known to be round in Europe as early as the 5th century BC. Most people get this flat earth theory from a misinterpretation of why no one would fund Columbus.
Galileo held the teracentric theory strongly. Trying to disprove his work drove him mad and that's why he was jailed.
@mythinktube He was jailed by the church, but by that time he was a total raving lunatic.
There had been several catholic priests and scientists who had worked out the heliocentric theory, but over all ignored it. Galileo was the first to not be able to do so, and lost his mind trying to disprove what he had proven.
For some reason or another, they thought that if the earth was moving the atmosphere would be left behind. It wasn't until the laws of friction that that went away.
@k1llk1ngph30n1x yes. But if there was friction with an empty space, ie the atmosphere blowing away, then you would be a bit afraid of the world moving.
@mythinktube you know. I can't remember. I've been studying medieval science, culture and warfare for so long now I can't remember where i read it.
History likes to make people saints for things they didn't do. Darwin didn't discover evolution, Columbus didn't think the earth was round first, Galileo wasn't the first heliocentric theorist.
I did find out something new while looking for that research. He had a flanderized character in his first book the pope thought was himself.
And feel free to speculate on the aspects of the universe that science has not yet done extensive study on, but remember that without facts as a basis, any theory is a shot in the dark.
"Never theorize before you have data. Invariably, you end up twisting facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts." -Sherlock Holmes (as played by Robert Downey Jr.)
Example "first DNA" you refer to is not necessary because we have data showing historical evidence of DNA going back through time. If scientists must present to you absolute proof of everything that it claims through evidence, than why haven't theists shown us the skeletal remains of Adam and Eve? What about Noah's Arch? Where is that? How about the mystical arch of the covenent? Can you demonstrate the parting of the Red Sea for us atheists? Basically, all you have is a really old book.
Science is a means by which testable hypotheses are proposed and investigated. You are not considered dumb to propose the existence of god, just not scientific. the impression I get, and I may well be wrong, is that you need, or would like, sciences' legitimacy. Whatever gives you solace is a good thing but leave science out of your discussion; it is not relevant.
i was an atheist for the last 4 years and thought all theists were retards, boy was i wrong...God is real, once you give yourself to him, he moves in your life. i was 100% convinced that God/The bible was utter bullshit, just like all these atheists do. but i am so happy to admit that i was wrong. God's peace really does surpass all understanding:)
"Givme the first cause" well, Saint Thomas of Aquinas has already been debunked in those requirements of first cause, look somewhere else to debunk science buddy...
Again, completely ridiculous...If you have read so much (which you seem to try to make us believe by using "scientific and difficult words" ), let me tell you that you have not understood anything!
the origin of life is called abiogenesis. it isnt impossible or improbable as you claim. scientists have actually made significant progress in the field as of late. google "RNA made in lab"
And you DO understand? When your scientific friends are trapped in a lie that they believe they say its natural phenomenon, or they say this may have evolved, or we think it evolved, there is no sentence where they say : " it`s a fact that human evolved from monkeys" they say maybe, or probably evolved. Some people DO understand science better then the actual scientists, trust me. I hope you will open your eyes for the truth. And don`t call people "useless" please EVOLVE. LOL
Yes, I do understand. I understand perfectly. I understand science, being as I am a scientist. And I understand that you are even more useless than the dude in this video. READ A DAMN SCIENCE BOOK. I really hope you don't vote in the US. You're truly ignorant and would do the world a favor by never speaking or breathing again.
lets start with asking the smaller questions first. humans as a race have no business in asking questions to which they cannot even comprehend. we have to work our way up to that.
Arguing about this topic here, below this video, solves nothing.
I am a solid Christian, and can clearly see this guy knows absolutely nothing? I mean no disrespect, but it is people like you (Randall) that confuse others, causing this argument to get so emotional?
There is no doubt that evolution is fact. I am a Christian and acknowledge that entirely. Your ignorance astounds me! This talking in circles around proven science should be banned from youtube because it is so damn misleading.
Saying that you are Christian and trusting in God and believing in evolution , that means that YOU LIE. Evolution is Theory, Scientists confirm that them self because they cant find the missing links to spices. And don't call your self christian again. People who believe in evolution has their own name.
No, evolution is an observed phenomenom. It's a fact. The theory of evolution explains that fact. And, i think you mean species? Scientists find "missing links" every day that all fits in the tree of evolution.
it's not because you don't have a degree, Terence McKenna didn't have a degree in pharmacology, but he was still knowledgable, he still knew what he was talking about. And micro-/macroevolution is just bullshit exploited by creationists as real science, when biologists really don't talk with those terms.
I find it hypocrital for evolutionists to say we have to produce evidence of God, but they only have to produce a theory of a begining. When we insist, they say you made the claim so the burden of proof is on you. My proof is ancient writings other than the bible, that to me support the bible's validity. Then there's the dead sea scrolls, proven to be legitimate. They still deny them as proof of anything. They make a cliam but avoid the begining of life, but that's ok, why.?
@vbirdieb The dead sea scrolls does not prove god, but proves people believed in god at that time. I do not see how the age of those documents have anything to do with their validity.
We don't have a perfect model for abiogenesis yet, but there is some very probable situations. Lightning strikes and the primordial soup can form amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins and DNA.

OMSMDO 4 months ago
I guess you just can't rap your head around the idea that just because some questions are unanswered doesn't mean god exists. It doesn't mean anything more than we just do not know yet. And until we do we don't pretend to have a supernatural catch all answer. Simple as that...
SlykRyk666 4 months ago

But the basic reason I don't like the idea of religion is because it separates people just like race and culture, thought religious people get so stubborn that no matter what comes along they will not let go of it. if god cme to earth i will believ
loganVt 9 months ago

TheGracewithmace 8 months ago
God might be a valid proposal for the creation of our universe, but you seem to preach that that God is the Christian God, when in reality it could be anything, it doesn't even need to take a form. God is just a concept derived from observation of the world around you. If you were born in an isolated forest and your parents taught you that goblins and fairies created all this, now you would not be able to distinguish the God you believe in from those mystical creatures.

Just because you want answers doesn't mean they could be explained in a way that you could understand. Nor that the answers even exist. You propose a god because why? Seriously. Why? What would be the purpose of a god? What would he/ she think is their purpose. Is this god immune to pondering it's own importance?

TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago
If you want to go past those "boundries", I would encourage you to have philosophical discussions with people who actually have a background in philosophy... You'd be surprised... Science uses what we are limited to in the best possible way. The rest you can talk about, but can't know with the same precision. But really, have those philosophical discussions. We need them!
TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago
About the origin of life: abiogenesis is reasonably unexplored, though complex organic molecules are surprisingly easy to form in a lab. As far as I know, consciousness, minds, moralities are explainable by natural selection and are pretty much determined by natural processes. We have a nerve system ya know :p. If you want to invoke quantum mechanics etc, do so. It changes nothing to existing expectation values :p
TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago
Now you wouldn't need DNA in the 1st place. RNA can be transcripted to DNA and mRNA can form proteins. Not all self-replicating cells need DNA. I'm not too familiar with abiogenesis, but from the courses I once took, I do remember that they think that the 1st living creatures had RNA only if I recall correctly.
TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago
Now, further in your video you're talking about the origin of the universe (spacetime, where you actually imply that general relativity is correct while we all know there's something fishy...) AND the first DNA. Now you might not know this, but the bible isn't 100% correct. In the bible, the universe and life are created almost simultaneously, but science has reveiled this to be false. The earth wasn't even there yet right after the big bang!
TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago
@TakesTwoToTango Can you possibly explain to me how Scientists know exactly that the Big Bang theory is 100% correct that the earth and all human life has all completely come from absolutely nothing but a Black HoleWell where exactly did the Black hole that held our whole universe come from? Can you answer that for me? Or can you tell me when the beginning was? No you can't because the Big Bang is a "Theory" and therefore cannot be proven. You're wrong in saying u revealed the bible to be false.
ultimatenash 1 year ago
You can't prove with 100% certainty that anything your senses tell you is correct, so you can't say anything about anything and nothing is correct. The difference is that the mainstream scientific theories are the ones that best explain the observations... Also, the big bang theory doesn't say anything about black holes... You're just gruesomely wrong there... We've determined that the earth is 4.5 billion yo, the universe about 13 billion yo. Unless our senses ARE cheating on us, these numbers
TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago

TakesTwoToTango 1 year ago
About evolution: macro and micro apply to species, which is an imaginary boundry. Humans defined it, and there isn't a clear definition of it. There are several working definitions of the term, and therefore, several definitions of macro-evolution. The reason you're being accused of using a creationist term is that creationists have another definition: they define micro and macro to apply to "kinds". The latter having no definition at all.

"Have your evolution"
It's quite amazing that people still argue against evolution, to this day. Even when genetics gave it that 'in your face' insult.
Though what's less amazing is that Americans are at the forefront of the argument. I'm all for people questioning something out of ignorance, or because they actually have evidence to question it. But it's neither out of ignorance nor through evidence, but personal incredulity.

After you have the first life, then evolution comes into play, but to know what's going on before evolution comes into play, research abiogenesis,
Modern physics has shown that philosophy is not a good way of knowing reality, biology does the same to the claim that religion knows where we came from.
pezus420 1 year ago

They don't mean a personal, anthropomorphic, interactive, creator God such as the one of the Judeo-Christian faith.
ferrett78 1 year ago
Its not a problem of talking about the origins of life or the Universe (which has nothing to do with the Theory of Evolution). I think most rational people will see that, I love talking about those sort of things. Its harder to argue scientifically about the origins of life because its a newer research area and there are still many, many hypotheses on the subject. But where I get frustrated and annoyed is when those whom don't understand what they argue against, i.e. Evolution or abiogenesis.
MicroRedhawk 1 year ago
500 years ago, you would be asking the same type of questions on different subjects...why does the ground shake beneath me sometimes? Why do the clouds roar and flash light? Why does the earth spew forth fire? Why do people suddenly die, yet no one has wounded them? Science has filled those gaps nicely in time with plate tectonics, climatology and germ theory. It may one day answer the questions you have, but even if they never do, it's a long way from a creator to the Abrahamic god.

BTW the FSM argument is meant to show that what you are arguing for is deism not theism i.e. if you want to assign supernatural answers to the questions you propose, any god will fill that gap.

classic he keeps changing what hes asking as soon as you answer is first question. To answer you main question of the vid the wall you are trying to jump over is the wall of what we know and can test for.
kokofan50 1 year ago
@kokofan50 I was thinking the same thing. The point of research, is to push back those 'hedges', not jump over them. Jumping can quickly become fringe - string theory i.e. - scientists and researchers must push back those boundaries one step at a time. Hypothesis, testing the hypothesis, corroborative evidence, peer review, replication of results, finding a mechanism and testing it, developing and supporting/eliminating theories, etc. are the steps that must be taken.
ctressle 1 year ago

And if you exempt god from the requirement then you are asking for special pleading, a fallacy.
isreasontaboo 1 year ago

What is the difference between the observed rate of speciation and the observed rate of extinction? And is the agonizingly slow process of speciation able to take place fast enough to keep up with the dramatically rapid rate of extinctions? Can life overcome entropy through evolution?
callingheyzeus 1 year ago
@callingheyzeus hello creationist pseudo-science wishful thinker. Before you challenge me into falling for the trap of "you're not an evolution expert so don't criticise this guy"... I am not an evolutionary biologist, you can find one at a University so go them that question if you truly want to know. However I do understand the basics of evolution unlike the man in this video who is arguing the case for ID through complete ignorance
mythinktube 1 year ago
@mythinktube I found about 50 documented cases of speciation events that have ever been recorded (depending on how loose the definition of species). Most of them are in the plant kingdom. There are about 10 million species alive today. The current extinction rate "estimate" is about 27,000 species a year (370 yrs to end of all life). In the geologic past perhaps we could say 100 extinctions per year (100,000yrs to end of all life). Wishful thinking is the only thing we have left.
callingheyzeus 1 year ago
@mythinktube
Nice try buckaroo.
There has been absolutely 0% evidence to back even the simplest notion of evolution (change from one species to an entirely different species).
One of the problems you run into with using "evolution" to 'describe the diversity of life' is that DNA does not create new strands when passed from parent to child, in any biological chain.
Instead, you get differences within species which come from a LOSS of information.
rilo154 10 months ago
@rilo154 "One of the problems you run into with using "evolution" to 'describe the diversity of life' is that DNA does not create new strands when passed from parent to child, in any biological chain.

Please get a grip on the concept of a mutation. Then read up on evolutionary algorithms and how they a) correspond to random search/gradient descent and b) Have a solid mathematical foundation.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@rilo154 "Instead, you get differences within species which come from a LOSS of information."
That claim really is utterly nonsensical anyway. How indoctrinated/stupid a person has to be to not realize that any change that happens, which happens to have a reproductive advantage, can not possibly be regarded as loss of information is simply unfathomable. Such an event necessarily implies that the new replicator encodes behaviors that are objectively better suited to reproductive success.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@rilo154 To call this a "loss of information" is quite simply to not grasp what "information" is. Of course, there are also experiments of scientists introducing selective damage to genomes of bacteria, then letting them replicate over generations and reconstruct the original genome. Not that this is a necessary consequence(it would happen only because the damage was to a highly useful trait), but it is a practical refutation that the idea that "loss of information" is even remotely coherent.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@rilo154 None of this is surprising to people who actually understand what's going on though. Kudos to the scientists who took the time to produce such practical demonstrations, but it really follows with mathematical necessity and has been demonstrated on a daily basis outside of biology since the first genetic algorithm was implemented.
Clowns like you have to hold that an AI that's evolved from inert behavior has "lost information" when it becomes capable of avoiding obstacles for example.
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@mythinktube
One could also truthfully state that you, sir, fail to understand even the basics of the subject you are arguing against.
rilo154 10 months ago
What exactly is a "kind"? This is not a biologically scientific term, and it's not actually defined in the bible.
is it a species? Because speciation (the development of a brand new species) has been OBSERVED numerous times, so that would be one "kind" turning into another "kind".
Or is it something else?
If you're going to talk about the real world, please be specific and accurate - no fuzzy wuzzy terminology pls.

If you bastardise reason and science to try and suit your ends you should be able to predict that yes, people are going to get annoyed. Because dishonesty annoys people. You have a very sweet deal in treating backlash as vindication and being dishonest to such an extent that you promote a backlash.

It is never appropriate to answer a question with a concept that is itself ineffable.
jklarson66 1 year ago
If you really wanted to know the answers to these questions you would be working in science trying to find them. Explaining one thing with something like God which by fiat cannot itself be explained explains nothing. There is a slim chance that God just might be the correct answer but as soon as we assume that God is the answer we remove all motivation to continue looking. If we had accepted that answer for speciation then we never would have discovered genetics. God is a science stopper.
jklarson66 1 year ago
@jklarson66
Science is constantly changing because it is constantly wrong. Unlike the Bible, which has never changed because it is right.
Science once told us that big rocks fall faster than small rocks.
Science once told us that the earth was flat.
Now, science is telling us that a T-Rex turned into a sparrow. Give me a break man.
BTW the bible stated that the earth was round, and sat on nothing. It took modern science centuries to figure that out.
IamTruth21 1 year ago
@IamTruth21 Flawed human intuition told us that bigger rocks fall faster than smaller rocks and that the earth was flat. It was the scientific method that corrected these errors. The Bible says that pi=3 and that it's a sin to wear mixed fibers. How could the Bible get the value of pi so wrong when others had calculated it hundreds of years before the Bible was written. It seems "God's chosen people" were much better at genocide and stoning rape victims to death than arithmatic.
jklarson66 1 year ago
Your deceived. To believe the Old Testament Law literally is to believe that this was the covenant God made with the ancient nation of Israel; a set of instructions for running their nation. To believe the New Testament literally along with the Old is to believe that when we were joined to Christ, we died with Him and were raised with Him, causing us to be released from the Law.
IamTruth21 1 year ago
So 3 is metaphorically equivalent to pi? That is some grade A B.S. right there. How are we supposed to know what is metaphorical and what is literal? You can find a more accurate and realistic world view in Dr. Seuss.
jklarson66 1 year ago
You miss calculated on PI To start with, the 1 Kings 7:23-26 verse is describing a fairly large bowl about 8 feet 4 inches tall sitting on top of some other fairly large items. The bowl is described
initially by 3 measurements, 2 of which at first glance seem to be redundant. A 4th dimension is also given
a couple of verses later and this one people often ignore while instead only focusing on 2 of the 4 given dimensions.
Once the calculations are made the Bible does say that PI=3.14
IamTruth21 1 year ago
Do you ever stop to think about the consequenses of your belief? How many children have been denied adequate science education based on mythological literalism? How many gay people alienated from their families and from society? How many suffering people in Africa have been told that it is better to spread HIV than to wear a condom? How many sick people have conned out of their money by faith healers? How many children have suffered genital mutilation? These superstitions have consequenses.
jklarson66 1 year ago
I could never endorse a book which is so morally and intellectually bankrupt as the Bible. Christians today are nothing more than a pack of snake oil salesmen, Pharisees, and witchdoctors. Scientists believe that universal truth is written into the very fabric of all of nature and reality for us to investigate. Christians think that all of universal truth is somehow fossilized into the bronze age ramblings of murderous and nomadic desert tribesmen. Which of those scenarios sounds more likely?
jklarson66 1 year ago
One lie after another. I think your missing a 6 at the end of your user name.
Just rememer, God will always leave the door open for you. He loves YOU, and died for YOU. I hope further investigating will lead you to the same conclusion as me as well as, Albert Einstein, Galileo, Sir Francis Bacon, Nikoli Tesla, and Isaac Newton.
IamTruth21 1 year ago
Galileo lived the last ten years of his life under house arrest for saying that the Bible was wrong and that the earth actually does move. Einstein said, "I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it". Newton also believed in astrology does that give credebility to that?
jklarson66 1 year ago
I see no reason to disagree with Spinoza's or Einstein's version of God. The universe is a remarkable and a perfect thing. But to draw from that the conclusion that there is an invisible man who is responsible somehow for the atrocities and intellectual abortions of the Bible is ridiculous. I have dedicated my life to searching for the way, the truth and the life of this world. So far that search in every avenue has only led away from religion. Truth is written in nature, not in scripture.

mythinktube 1 year ago
@mythinktube It was actually the church who threw Galileo (you know, one of them evil scientist type people) in prison for claiming the earth is not flat.
Galileo was heliocentric theory, not round earth. The earth was known to be round in Europe as early as the 5th century BC. Most people get this flat earth theory from a misinterpretation of why no one would fund Columbus.
Galileo held the teracentric theory strongly. Trying to disprove his work drove him mad and that's why he was jailed.
nivarion 1 year ago
@nivarion granted Galileo was heliocentric theory but where are your sources that it wasn't the catholic church who jailed him?
mythinktube 1 year ago
@mythinktube He was jailed by the church, but by that time he was a total raving lunatic.
There had been several catholic priests and scientists who had worked out the heliocentric theory, but over all ignored it. Galileo was the first to not be able to do so, and lost his mind trying to disprove what he had proven.
For some reason or another, they thought that if the earth was moving the atmosphere would be left behind. It wasn't until the laws of friction that that went away.

He had a flanderized character in his first book the pope thought was himself.
nivarion 1 year ago
@nivarion History does like to make saints out of undeserving people, religion is particularly guilty of this.
However someone so experienced in history should have no problem sourcing a claim so grand. Otherwise it reduces you to a conspiracy theorist

And feel free to speculate on the aspects of the universe that science has not yet done extensive study on, but remember that without facts as a basis, any theory is a shot in the dark.
