Passengers and crew of OG269 received little benefit from fire and rescue services. On the day of the crash, Phuket Airport did not meet the requirements of fire and rescue protection required by international standards, the foam and water in the trucks used three days earlier in a training exercise and had not been restocked.
When an airport has a reduction in fire or rescue capacity, ATC is required to notify incoming traffic of the reduction, but no notification was made.Hampering rescue efforts was a six-foot ditch beside and parallel to runway 27 running the length of the runway.
Rescue vehicles were unable to cross this ditch, though they could have entered at either end of the runway. None did. Survivors complained that only a single ambulance arrived, and forced the healthy into the vehicle, leaving behind trapped and injured.
Additional fire and rescue from the town of Phuket arrived 30 minutes later. Their slower than normal response was due to the ATC radio call to for help from town that an aircraft that had “slid” off the runway rather than declaring an emergency situation
everyone stop bitching and arguing over what it is who it was made by i couldnt care less if im honest! i care for the people who died in the plane crash and one of the people was like the sister i never had. and our family are still grieving for her.

Interestingly, statistically speaking, commercial flying is safer than walking 2 blocks to the grocery store. There is less chance of an injury while flying than while walking that distance.
In areas where there are automobiles practically _everyone_ will be involved in at least one accident.
I don't know... I just can't help thinking that I would have rather gone without watching 1.05 minutes of this footage for you to actually not have picked up the camera and helped the other people out. Video camera would have been the last thing on my mind.
They say air is the safetest way of transport?Do the math.Compare car accidents with survivors to plane crashes with survivors.Which one would be safer??At least a car crash would/is quicker than a plane falling to the ground for 10 or so min.I guess it'd be enough time to at least call your loved ones to say good-bye.Still.I'd rather go out in a car crash than a long plane crash.
you are getting completly wrong. Planes are far much safer than cars. last year for exemple over 2.5 billions of people took planes and "only" 850 died in the entire word. Whereras in a single country(France) 4500 people died in cars accidents. It gives you an idee of how many people died in the entire word in cars accident each years. Compare it with the number of deaths in planes you'll see what I mean. Further more there are survivors in planes crash 40 for this one for exemple.
chill out ! you obviously never had a close encounter flying.cause you wouldn't say that . if you fly it will happen to you at some point.then I tell you to chill out.I fly alot and it makes me crazy every time! I hate flying!
wow..that must ov bin shit scary mate..was evry 1 ok..apart from the injusrys we see?? wat caused it and how did it land? i wud cry if that was me goin down in a plane
It happened on september 16th. The One-Two-Go Airlines flight was carrying 123 passengers and seven crew members from the capital Bangkok to Phuket when the McDonnell Douglas MD-82 skidded off the runway in driving wind and rain. It then ran through a low retaining wall and split in two, killing 90 people, including 54 foreign tourists. Wind shear - the rapid change in wind speed which can impact takeoffs and landings — was a possible cause of the accident.
Never, never, never fly on those MD-80's. How many fucking disasters does an aircraft need to be taken out of service? You guys are so lucky- my heart really goes out to you dudes.
i didn't see or hear any fire engines or ambulances responding to the scene. They should be there by that time.

you should also compare the number of cars to the number of planes. Your theory is shaking.

And this is just as it happened... To see the people's reaction to see that they survived, while there were those that weren't so lucky.
I wouldn't be suprised if Cinefilm Mayday does a documentary on this and uses the footage or something...
But God bless to those you perished.
